'I don't care what Dick Cheney thinks,' Biden says

Biden says he's not too interested in what Dick Cheney has to say.
Biden says he's not too interested in what Dick Cheney has to say.

Washington (CNN) – Vice President Biden on Friday fired back at criticism from his predecessor, former Vice President Cheney, that President Obama is "dithering" over his decision about whether to send up to 40,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan.

"I like Dick Cheney personally but I really don't care what Dick Cheney thinks and I'm not sure a lot of Americans do," Biden said in an exclusive interview with CNN. "Look at the policy they left us, look at the policy of neglect they left us in Afghanistan, look at the policy we inherited in terms of their foreign policy...I think the President is doing exactly what any president should do."

October has turned out to be the deadliest month of the war so far, and Biden said the president needs the appropriate time to get the strategy right. He said the situation on the ground has changed because the Taliban is "taking advantage of a chaotic election process that took place in Afghanistan."

Biden added, "Any thoughtful president should be sitting down saying, 'Okay what is the strategy we have to employ with these changed circumstances?' And then look at the tactic that will best accomplish that. The President has great faith in the military."

Cheney has no contact with reality. He is incapable of any insight. He proceeds as if nothing happened prior to his mess that Obama inherited.
He deservedly has a place with Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity and Coulter as the leaders of the Republican philosophy.

Cheney may not possess any tact. but at least he has the guts to speak out against our unqualified campaigner in chief. Biden, on the other hand, is as false as his bad hair implants. He is just another "all talk and no action" liberal.

The current situation in Afganastian and Obamas indecision point to the truth that the American people elected an untried Junior politician and now we are stuck with this inexperience in the white house. I just want to know how many more of our young men have to die before this president makes a decision. The White House is not the place to be trying out their training wheels. Perhaps they should listen to someone more experienced. Biden is a joke. Everytime he opens his mouth he makes George Bush look like Einstein.

If Cheney is so intellingent relating to the war that he and Bush called, he should have run for President. Instead, we are forced to listen to his rants and raves as to what he "thinks". Biden is correct, give the American people a break. Cheney needs to go home, take care of his lesbian daughter and shoot a few animals on his ranch and give the rest of America a "breather".

"Rarely do we find MEN who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think."—Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from "Strength To Love"

I believe that Dick Cheney is one of those people.

IMO Dick Cheny should be prosecuted for war crimes. What he and his party have done to this nation is a crime. I blame him, Carl Rove and W for what is happening today. The recession, the wars everything. He needs to zip it and go back to where he belongs and he can take his nutty daughter with him. PLEASE!

    Anat,

You should go back to school and learn how to spell and write proper grammer before you start making comments that Joe Biden is not intelligent. I think you must be referring to the Republican party with your suggestion that the liberals become like children and throw tanturums when the are criticised. That is exactly what they do on a daily basis.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Doubt if you will understand what this means!!

I'm sorry, but didn't this Bozo and his boss run for these jobs?
I am so tired of hearing the "We inherited" garbage.
What a bunch of total imbeciles.
    May God help us all.

If Cheney is so irrelevant, then why do the Democrats worry so much when he (or any Republican) criticizes them? In 3 years, Biden along with his boss will surely be irrelevant!

Joe Biden has been in Washington as long as Retired Cheney has been there. Entire careers at increased perks and benefits they have both shared. It is both sad and funny that they are really both fools in the public limelight and we get to watch them call each other irrelevant. Bring on the pink slips America for the people that should really deserve them.

As a Canadian observer & a liberal it pains me to see how the Democrats are allowing these square headed Republican types such as Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity & such to keep running their mouths & spewing anti-american rhetoric about your administration. These stiffs are pseudo journalists at best with virtually no credentials to have an opinion on anything.

In regard to Cheney & Bush we went through this same crap in the late 80's & early 90's with Brian Mulroney & we did the same thing you folks did which was kick them out of office in 93 & like Bush-Cheney he single handedly destroyed his party & it took them 15 years to bounce back. As far as that arrogant, war mongering draft dodger Cheney is concerned don't waste your time worrying about him because he'll never attain higher office again so his opinion means squat. BTW here is a quick way to shut him up – make a quick call to the Hague, I guarantee that will shut him up real quick.

John, you are hopelessly naive! go up little boy......

What constantly amazes me is that anyone, including Joe Biden, would claim to personally like Dick Cheney, whether or not he cares what he has to say being beside the point. I’m old enough to remember when Truman was President and can say with all honesty that no President, including Richard M. Nixon, undermined and harmed the very character, nature and welfare of this country as did one Vice President named Dick Cheney. Without ever being elected to office, he envisioned himself as the uncrowned king of America and was given free reign and the power to act upon that delusion; one that he apparently is still acting under.

While Biden says he doesn't care what Cheney says is definitely a step in the right direction; it’s too bad he wasn't able to publicly admit the reasons why. At least in this regard the American people are way ahead of our politicians because they definitely know why they aren’t listening.

It is about time that the Obama and Biden understand that they are in control and have been for 10 months and every day they spend more on junk and tell us how great they are. They need to stop blaming Bush and Cheny and start taking responsibility for what is going on.

To Enough: Who basically says come on Obama and Biden...do something....our soldiers are dying!
Are you kidding me? Why are they dying? Because Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld put them there and now you have the audacity to blame Obama? Get out of Afghanistan and get out of Iraq. Why are U.S. soldiers even there??? There is no good reason. I couldn't care less what happens to their civilians. Look at what's happening to American civilians. Unemployment at his highest (thanks to Bush)...Recession/Depression (thanks to Bush). He couldn't manage a baseball team or an oil company. How did you expect him to manage a country? Just pathetic.

I care about what Dick Chaney says. If Obama and Biden don't like the policies in place from President Bush then change them. Obama and Biden have been in office 10 months and all they are doing is apologizing to the terrorists. I think they're being played and for the first time I'm afraid for our country. I'm afraid for our safety.

He's a criminal. Plain and simple. He should be tried and convicted.
