'I don't care what Dick Cheney thinks,' Biden says

Biden says he's not too interested in what Dick Cheney has to say.

Biden says he's not too interested in what Dick Cheney has to say.

Washington (CNN) - Vice President Biden on Friday fired back at criticism from his predecessor, former Vice President Cheney, that President Obama is "dithering" over his decision about whether to send up to 40,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan.

"I like Dick Cheney personally but I really don't care what Dick Cheney thinks and I'm not sure a lot of Americans do," Biden said in an exclusive interview with CNN. "Look at the policy they left us, look at the policy of neglect they left us in Afghanistan, look at the policy we inherited in terms of their foreign policy...I think the President is doing exactly what any president should do."

October has turned out to be the deadliest month of the war so far, and Biden said the president needs the appropriate time to get the strategy right. He said the situation on the ground has changed because the Taliban is "taking advantage of a chaotic election process that took place in Afghanistan."

Biden added, "Any thoughtful president should be sitting down saying, 'Okay what is the strategy we have to employ with these changed circumstances?' And then look at the tactic that will best accomplish that. The President has great faith in the military."

Maybe he just needs water boarded. Speaking of Cheney how much did the Public Treasury have to spend on this old bird's health care when in office? Why do the Republicans want to leave off the public option but when presented with a personal opportunity to sign up themselves they flock to it like flies to s**t?

How much do we as taxpayers pay for each elected official's health care plan?

Until our people can figure out what "winning" looks like, something I am hearing very little about, I don't think we should be sending the Taliban 40,000 more targets.

Take your time, Mr President, if that is what is required to get it right.

Biden has the intelligence level of a yo yo and his use of the word "think" is an example of the level the political scene has fallen to. He would have difficulty understanding Dick and Jane so his comments on Cheney are laughable.

Thank you, Mr. Vice President, for pointing out the obvious. Those same troop requests and supplies requests had been on Mr. Cheney's desk for nearly 7 years! We have had no set goals and no set initiatives, and no set strategy until we come up with those. Thanks to President Bush and Vice President Cheney, those got pushed to the back burner and ignored while they invaded another country - one without ANY ties to the 9/11 attacks.

What many of you are failing to consider is that we don't have 40,000 troops to send to Afghanistan without stripping other vital defense locations. Even if we did that, to properly train them for the situation in Afghanistan (which is extremelly different from being in Iraq, or any other military posting), and the logistics to get them to Afghanistan would mean that those troops will not put "boots on the ground" there before spring of 2010.

We have an all-voluntary military, folks...we are limited by how many volunteer. You feel that strongly, YOU volunteer. I've already done my service, during Vietnam. What about you? From the day you volunteer, it would be a minimum of three months (including prelims, basic training, and minimal specialist training) to get you to Afghanistan, and that would be as basic Army troops with no serious specialty training. We don't do that anymore, for a reason. The only other choice is to re-institute the draft. Let's see how enthusiastic you are when your draft number is 12!

Wow J.P. – that's an interesting point of view, based on fairy tales. i'm still pondering the irony of whinning about whinning... Even if Biden wasn't whinning, he was saying that Cheney doesn't matter. And you know what? He's right.

Why did it take 8 years for them to come up with a solution to this war? Why were they not this pro-active when it was their administration???

Cheney is a disgrace, as is any Republican that served in the last administration and is now bad-mouthing Obama.

Robert Erickson, I lived in the mideast for many years. People in the middle east are of the mindset that if you were not there, this bad thing would not have happened to you. Translated, that means if little georgie and deadeye dick hadn't gotten us into this quagmire, we wouldn't have dead soldiers.

Former vice president Dick Cheney has abandoned any modicum of creditability and is now ducking as much accountability over his past comments and actions as he and his daughter can.

All attempts by Dick Cheney to re-create his legacy from being the worst possible US Vice President that America has ever had the utter disgrace to have, is going to fail badly.

Quite simply, Dick Cheney is the most reviled, infamous and utterly disgusting man in Republican political history and that is saying something!

    Say it is so, Joe!

It is about time you said something about the 5 time draft-dodger trying to tell ANYONE about strategic military action, since the dick only cared about KRB, Halliburton and dollars when he started these two wars.
