Exit poll: Economy concerns New Jersey voters most.
Exit poll: Economy concerns New Jersey voters most.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -
The economy was the most important issue on the minds of New Jersey voters Tuesday, early CNN Exit Poll data showed.

Nearly a third of the voters heading to the polls in this off-year election pitting Democratic Gov. John Corzine against Republican Chris Christie, 31 percent, said the economy was the most important issue, while 26 percent said property taxes, 20 percent indicated corruption and 18 percent identified health care.

Soaring property taxes and a high profile corruption sting that snared state and local officials have been important issues in this year's election.

More complete data will be released later in the evening. Polls close in New Jersey at 8 p.m. ET.

Response to GOP lies:

"mother of all taxes coming down the pike": Obama will allow the Bush tax cuts to the wealthiest 1% to expire. IF you earn....... $500,000 or as a couple earn $1,000,000 your taxes will go up. As Jesus said "to whom much is given, much is asked."

"driving away businesses" really? It was during the GOP's watch that America's manufacturing jobs went overseas.

"as everyone's standard of living and opportunity to work will decline": During the Bush presidency the AVERAGE American family's income lost, $1500 dollars a year. During 2008, the last year of the Bush presidency we lost........ 2.6 MILLION jobs.

The GOP has been a disaster for Americans.

And how did the NJ Democrats respond? They were sending out robocalls for Daggett thinking this would help Corzine!!! Yup, and they got caught... I am praying Corzine gets voted out, I can't afford all the "good things" he is doing for us anymore...

just think about it people! The GO Party will cut taxes for the wealthy, raise taxes on the porr and middle class, and last it will be just as wprse as it was under Bush 43! No more republicans that are the part of NO. they even booted a moderate republican out of their own party! sore loosers

Barack reads his lies, Unions Thrive and the Economy dies.   November 3rd, 2009 5:47 pm ET

Newsflash: Excessive spending and the mother of all taxes coming down the pike from Corzine and Obama, driving away businesses, concerns them most, as everyone's standard of living and opportunity to work will decline, except for the liberal radicals that are part of the Marxist inner circle..

If only we could choose "none of the above".
