Palin is keeping a low profile on her trip to Wisconsin Friday.
Palin is keeping a low profile on her trip to Wisconsin Friday.

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is set to deliver remarks at a Wisconsin Right to Life event Friday evening, one of the few speeches the former Republican vice presidential nominee will have given since she resigned the governorship last summer.

But Palin appears to be doing her best to keep a low profile on this trip: no press will be allowed into the Milwaukee auditorium where she will speak and those who have paid the $30 admittance fee are unable to carry in cell phones, cameras, laptops, or recording devices of any kind.

Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate told the Wisconsin Radio Network he finds all these restrictions "bizarre."

"You know, for someone who claims to be a rogue and isn't afraid of what other people think it really is sort of hypocritical to not let the media, the press cover your event."

Meanwhile Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus said he's excited Palin is coming to his state, but stressed the party has nothing to do with this event or its limitations.

Palin's speech comes a day after a new national poll suggests the former Alaska governor may face some obstacles should she decide to run for the White House. According to the new Gallup survey, only about one in three Americans would seriously consider casting their vote for her.

The speech also comes a week and half before Palin's highly-anticipated memoir "Going Rogue: An American Life" is released. The Alaska Republican will commence a national book tour soon after and sit down for high-profile interviews with Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters.

She's keepng a low profile because she's going to be saying some extreme things and pandering to the far right.

Lou   November 6th, 2009 11:34 am ET

Palin is terrified of the press. Perhaps she finally realizes how ignorant she appears, and is, to the rest of the country. Too bad she won't just go back to where she came from. She will never be anything more than she is right now. I truly hope she runs for prez in 2012. After the terrible economy we will have been experiencing by then, everyone will be desperate for some comic relief and who better to provide it than Palin.

Stephen Hammond   November 6th, 2009 11:33 am ET

your 15 minutes are up...aren't they.

Johnq   November 6th, 2009 11:33 am ET

If Obama did this, the Republicans would say "what's he hiding?" They'd say he was forming some kind of secret Stalinist meeting or something.

But from Democrats, you get much more appropriate responses such as "that's bizarre." That's the difference between the parties; in case anyone is undecided and looking.

Craig Marker   November 6th, 2009 11:33 am ET

Hey Sarah!.. You will NEVER become president. Your 15 minutes of fame is overwith.

trubluNJ   November 6th, 2009 11:31 am ET

A public event and the press isn't allowed coverage? Sounds a little.. un-American.

Brendan   November 6th, 2009 11:29 am ET

Sarah Palin was not, in fact, the republican presidential nominee as stated in your above article. Do you even have an editor?

kgeukes Michigan   November 6th, 2009 11:29 am ET

You know....this lady claims to be maverick, is a liar because if she really was she wouldn't care what the press or people say about her...Due to the fact that she has to have total control of the situation tells me that she's a narcissist and she thinks SHE'S the only one who matters. Got news for ya Sarah...You don't matter to people who actually care about what's going on in the country. We will make sure that you never see the inside of the Oval Office in your lifetime and ours!!

Ron Abfalter   November 6th, 2009 11:27 am ET

Hmmm, no cameras, cell phones, lap tops and no press. What are you afraid of Sarah?

Jane   November 6th, 2009 11:27 am ET

Low Profile doesn't mean "No Press Allowed", Sarah! Low Profile means not doing or saying outrageous things that keep the spotlights on!!!

GP   November 6th, 2009 11:26 am ET

Palin is just as narcissistic as the next politician, regardless of party.

She earned a nice paycheck by going over seas and to complain about our president at length to an auditorium full of money men. The Dixie chicks made a remark about Bush during a concert in England and their career was practically destroyed. Sarah drags Obama through the mud, gets a paycheck for it, and she's a hero to the very people that cried foul about the Dixie Chicks breaking some unwritten rule.

Palin and her 'fans' are oblivious to their hypocrisy.

To all the neo-con “christian” pro-life taxpayers.

This liberal pro-life taxpayer offers this compromise.

We will add a check box to the tax return forms that allows you to opt out of having your tax dollars going to killing human life via abortion, if I can opt out of having my tax dollars going to killing human life via elective wars.

Deal?

tom   November 6th, 2009 11:25 am ET

"the party has nothing to do with this event or its limitations."

I'm certain this is because there are still enough Republicans left who realize that this backwoods drone has no chance of becoming president. Too many Americans are impressed by the fact that she agrees with their assessments of the country's problems, without realizing that she hasn't the first idea about how to solve them.

Hawaii Gal   November 6th, 2009 11:25 am ET

She is not going to run for President, it does not pay enough and she would have to actully do some hard work. If she cannot even finish her job as Gov. there is no way she could even consider being Pres. Plus, she would never even get the chance, too many Americans know she is an igorant nut case.

Kelsey M   November 6th, 2009 11:25 am ET

Once she speaks on national television I'm sure events like this will allow media. I wouldn't want the media distorting my every word and making me look bad right before my book is about to drop.

She is smart – those who can't see that are just idiots.

RealityKing   November 6th, 2009 11:25 am ET

You know, most Americans have come to realize that its very wise not to let Obama's progressively corrupt media, I mean, main stream press cover your events. Unless you're part of the agenda of course..

Joe   November 6th, 2009 11:24 am ET

"no press will be allowed into the Milwaukee auditorium where she will speak and those who have paid the $30 admittance fee are unable to carry in cell phones, cameras, laptops, or recording devices of any kind."

Sounds like a challenge in this "everything is recorded" day and age.

Hear This   November 6th, 2009 11:24 am ET

Ms. Palin cannot write coherently; that's why her book was ghostwritten. That's why everything she puts out for public consumption (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) is written by someone else.

It is dangerous for her to speak without a script; she tends to show her liabilities in terms of intellect and political awareness very quickly. i.e. – Katie Couric interview.

It is with good reason that Palin handlers do not want her recorded if she is to do any speaking off script, or, if she engages in a Q&A session.

sonya   November 6th, 2009 11:24 am ET

The woman is a complete nutjob. I'm frankly shocked 1 in 3 would consider voting for her. Just proves how many stupid Americans there are!

Chas   November 6th, 2009 11:23 am ET

Hey Big Spender   November 6th, 2009 11:23 am ET

JC   November 6th, 2009 11:23 am ET

Her insanity precedes her wherever she goes. She likes the limelight and wants more than her 15 minuets of fame. She is NOT in a run for the White House, rather this is her opportunity to make a lot of $$$ by keeping her name in front of the media. Soon she'll be hawking something on TV like soap or hamburgers. Only in America....

vic nashville , Tn   November 6th, 2009 11:23 am ET

Palin can say what ever she want to say in the face book

But “no press will be allowed into the Milwaukee auditorium where she will speak and those who have paid the $30 admittance fee are unable to carry in cell phones, cameras, laptops, or recording devices of any kind.”

Then why CNN giving a space for Pailn every day in the blog

Carla   November 6th, 2009 11:23 am ET

I don't really see anything "bizarre" about a private venue for a speech, that happens everyday. I'll bet she won't even need a teleprompter.

Palin, Limbaugh, Beck – FREAKS, FREAKS, FREAKS.
My 'real' Republican Conservative friends (those of the Conservative upper echelon) are absolutely terrified of the radical fanaticism of
these 'rogue conservatives'. They do not in any way, shape or form
represent good thinking, good policy, good government or a respectable America. They are just as dangerous as the 'terrorism' we fight around the globe. FOX News among them – presents nothing more than 'opinion' fueled by rumor and meant to stir up radical fundamentalism by 'sick Americans'.

Brad in cenTex   November 6th, 2009 11:23 am ET

Once again, obsession with Sarah noted. How pathetic.

Lowell   November 6th, 2009 11:22 am ET

Understandably, Palin's objective is to support a standard of views that would be sidetracked with her own political goals. The focus of the meeting obviously is for the cause of fighting abortion and the simply see her as a role model.

Clearly, Palin is simply singing to the choir. It’s a safe move for her book sales and lecture fees she knows it won’t get her anywhere if she plans to run for President in ’12–but she's not thinking about that right now. Everyone knows Independent swing voters hold the keys to the White House doors—not the ultra right wing conservatives. But right now all Palin is interested in is making some money on book sales and appearances. She needs to get the bucks while she can—that’s why she resigned as governor.

Robin   November 6th, 2009 11:19 am ET

I don't blame her, I wouldn't let the media in either if I were her. They only distort everything she says.

Steve   November 6th, 2009 11:19 am ET

Wow. Talk about insecurity. Who the heck would give a public speech... but be afraid to have any video record of the speech shot? That IS bizarre. If you can't stand behind what your words, or are afraid for people to hear what you have to say, then don't even bother giving speeches.

Palin has tried to make a huge deal out of being "misrepresented" by the press, when all they did was replay her own words. What she's doing now is *inviting* misquotations... and she won't have a video record to prove what she said. Very, very, very bad idea for any public figure.

jeremy.....Dallas...Texas   November 6th, 2009 11:19 am ET

Evil people will never want their evil words be put on record. I just quit this party because of right wing invasion. This is terrible miscarriage of democracy.

So a Democratic official describes Sarah Palin as "bizarre". How newsworthy is that? How about holding the presses until a Democratic official describes Obama as "bizarre"?

JP   November 6th, 2009 11:19 am ET

Obama will be very vulnerable in 2012 because his polocies will lead the country into financial ruin. The surest way to get him reelected is to have this moron Palin on the ticket. Sarah don't you get it that you are the single biggest reason we have Obama in the white house.

Eddie   November 6th, 2009 11:18 am ET

For the "uptenth" time; if Sarah Palin is such a "no-show" political whacko.......why on earth is CNN & all the other Liberal Media/Obama yes men, so darn afraid of her???

Reality   November 6th, 2009 11:18 am ET

Why would the Dems. or the press care if there are recording devices there? They should not be concerned with what she says right? Palin is supposed to be off of their radar now. Just go back and get patted on the head and lay down by the feet of Obama and Rham. Don't pay any attention to what Palin is doing. Go back to sleep folks, nothing to see here, move along, move along.

Mike   November 6th, 2009 11:17 am ET

This ladys 15 minutes of fame (way too long in the first place) is way over and done with. Who is she anyway? She should know she was only picked as McCains running mate because he knew he was going to lose so it looked good to pick a woman. She thinks quite highly of herself obviously which is healthy I guess, but quite unjustified.

Anonymous   November 6th, 2009 11:17 am ET

Limbaugh is right on target: "Democrats will tell us who they really fear. The Democrats will tell us who on our side really, really threaten them, and there's no question that Sarah Palin is that." Frankly, I find the Democrats' 2000 + pages health care plan that they concoted behind closed doors and Nancy Pelosi BIZZARE!

Lynne - Seattle   November 6th, 2009 11:17 am ET

Hey CNN,

I'm fairly sure she was the VP nominee, not presidential nominee...doesn't anyone edit the articles you publish???

Dictionary definition of rogue:

(n) An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal
(adj) Vicious and solitary
(v) to defraud

Anthony Taylor   November 6th, 2009 11:15 am ET

A correction: Governor Palin is a former *VICE*-Presidential nominee, not a Presidential nominee, as stated in the article.

Oh my goodness! I am so SICK of everyone criticizing and critiquing her "every" move. She is free to do whatever she wants to do and does not need anyone's approval, much less what people who hide begin pseudo names posting hateful remarks on the internet. Just remember all of you who are pointing your finger at Sarah, there are three pointing back at you. Examine your own life, are you perfect? Nope, I didn't think so. If you are at work typing your little comments, you are "stealing" time from your employer. So that makes you a thief. LOL.

Not Right or Left but Forward   November 6th, 2009 11:14 am ET

What is truly bizzare is that CNN seems to now think Palin was ""the former Republican presidential nominee", according to the version of th article I read. If that's the case, why did Obama even bother debating with John McCain?

iroshi   November 6th, 2009 11:08 am ET

First, Palin was not the Republican nominee for president as stated in the first paragraph of this report.
Second, Palin is hardly a rogue; she is in lockstep with the ultra conservative line and does not have an original thought in her head.
Third, Palin is a quitter with neither the courage to see a job through, nor the intelligence to have written a book by herself.
Fourth, anyone who would vote for her for president is making a statement more about their prejudices and hatred of certain groups of people than they are about what will be best for this country.

Seems to me that the Democrats have enough problems of their own instead of worrying about what this lady does. For a bunch of folks who think she's "dumb, irrelevant, etc. etc. you sure seem to spend an inordinate amount of time reading and commenting on her. You, of course will deny it, but it is totally obvious you are consumed by fear of her. If you weren't you wouldn't even be reading stories printed about her let alone making the same old comments which never very from post to post.

Susanna   November 6th, 2009 11:07 am ET

Why would we vote for her if she ran for president of the whole country when she couldn't handle being governor of Alaska?? If she made it to the white house she'd be the first female president and probably would also be the first to "quit" if it got a little difficult. NOT A FAN!! Trumped up Beauty Queen looking for bigger pageants to win, and once she wins she's done.

Paul C.   November 6th, 2009 11:07 am ET

She has a lot to say, is inspired to say it... but she should not have to put up with the media frenzy toward her and her family. You can call them the press if you want to, but a better name for them would be 'papparazi'. Lessons were not learned from Princess Diana's yearning for privacy, she couldn't find it either. Many people think that is you enter public life, you give up all other rights. That is ridiculous, a stalker is a stalker(with or without a camera). Multiply that times a national press corps that was more concerned about her wardrobe, than her accomplisments as the excellent Governor of Alaska.

As someone who recognizes the 'Sanctity of Human Life'... she is
more informed and faithful than the masses who just want to snip
at her heels every step of the way.

Sarah, I am very proud of you, and grateful that you are bringing the right to life into focus for the rest of society.

I am a Republican; Sara Palin scares me with her 'shoot from the hip' idiotic comments. Sorry, but I think the woman is a loose cannon, & NOT good for the GOP image. It is not that she says 'scary' things, just stupid, non-sensual' things... That's the reason for the ban on phones, recorders and reporters, they are trying to shield her..., Why? I ask...
I already feel embarrassed for her if she goes on the Wendfrey show or is interviewed by Walters...
When she speaks, it is like listening to an empty room....
But, I suppose it will be for the best, get it out in the open, then the GOP can get on with looking to a real candidate, like Mike Huckabee!!

grace   November 6th, 2009 11:02 am ET

Sarah, i'm not sure what your agenda is or could be. My suggestion is to stay home with your family. They need you. I am afraid that you fall into the category of one when given a bit of power, thinks he/she is powerful. Being thrust into the limelight last summer did not make you ready to deal with the problems of an entire nation. Think about it are you really aware of all the laws of the land; can you work 24hours a day, are you ready to cope with a job where your every word is more than scrutinized, can you really take the "heat"? Saying you are a ROGUE does not particularly impress most of a nation of people who are required to follow the law. Please go home.

What is wrong with CNN???? Oh just about everything – if this is "dirt" you have to dig on her and I am sure thousands of little dems will respond nicely to the call to annoint her with all sorts of names. At least she has an opinion – let her alone and maybe deal with the massacre that went on in Texas and perhaps cover those nice little east coast losses. But wait no – Sarah Palin is more "important." What a joke the liberal media has become....

If she is so secretive about this event, maybe she souldn't be doing it. This woman is a wolf in a fake sheep outfit–when are people going to wise up?

becky   November 6th, 2009 10:55 am ET

Groan. Must we have this again?

Malcolm in St Louis   November 6th, 2009 10:55 am ET

Nothing like being afraid of being quoted.

Norman   November 6th, 2009 10:55 am ET

Palin is a great spokesperson for the extreme right. The Right To Life people have the same rights as the Chioce people do. However, there cause is very anti-women and thats the facts.

Once again the GOP shoots itself in the foot.

Chaz   November 6th, 2009 10:55 am ET

I heard that Sarah only agreed to "Rogue" Wisconsin, IF she could shoot their animals from a helocopter.

Eric from CO   November 6th, 2009 10:55 am ET

The problem with Palin, is she is money hungry and wants attention so badly, she will say or do anything to get the media to put her on TV, in a magazine, etc. Otherwise she wouldn't have a job...

Ryan in Iowa   November 6th, 2009 10:54 am ET

Headline should be "Palin event not allowing pond scum liberals in with tape recorders" Its a private event, nothing wrong with that. If you want to know what she says then attend it you idiots.

Richard L   November 6th, 2009 10:54 am ET

Someone who is thinking about running for president is scared stiff that people might make a record of what she says. Absolutely amazing! Apparently being rogue means hiding.

bill   November 6th, 2009 10:53 am ET

"Bizarre" is good way to describe Palin, her action, and her philosophy on life, politics, and religion.

I'm not a Republican, but would advise that party to distance themselves from her if they want to achieve any success in the future.

M.F.   November 6th, 2009 10:52 am ET

former presidental nominee? not quite. But nonetheless, hopefully former and nominee are two words always attached to her.

katiec   November 6th, 2009 10:52 am ET

Palin is not giving speeches because no one wants her. She thought there would be a great demand for her nonsense but that has not materialized.
Absolutely do not believe your poll that 1 in 3 Americans would consider voting for her. We are not that stupid!

Chicago   November 6th, 2009 10:52 am ET

Wasn't she the vice-presidential nominee?

John in Tampa   November 6th, 2009 10:52 am ET

It's hard to believe 1 in 3 would consider her to be their leader. Alaskans elected her, and she QUIT on them. You know what they say about when the going gets tough, the tough-what, run away?

Bill   November 6th, 2009 10:51 am ET

I can't believe that even one in three voters would consider voting for Palin. She couldn't even handle being governor of Alaska....she quit.

Bobby   November 6th, 2009 10:51 am ET

I do not understand this woman's agenda. She seems to have something to prove after her not so popular run for Vice President. I really believe that her political career is pretty much over.

Gerald in Alameda   November 6th, 2009 10:51 am ET

Everything Sarah Palin does publicly is to cover up the obvious
fact that "there's no there there." She and her people know that
speaking extemporaneously exposes her ignorance, lack of knowledge and her butchering of the English language. So every event she participates in is about control. She plans to keep up this charade for 3 more years, seriously believing she can fool people into
making her a party leader. I still cannot believe John McCain did this
to his country.

Palin helps Democrats win elections   November 6th, 2009 10:50 am ET

Palin wants to confiscate the cell phones of her supporters? It is a sad day when Palin doesn't trust her own supporters to keep their cell phone. Most people need to keep their cell phones on them in case an emergency.

Ron in California   November 6th, 2009 10:48 am ET

Speaking of bizarre behavior, the house Dems need to come to grips with the fact that they work for the Citzenry. Stop all this secret stuff over the Healthcare bill. Lets us know in deatil, in simple plain language what it is they are proposing.

FAYE, NV   November 6th, 2009 10:47 am ET

Sarah don't want any these devices inside to record her non sense and incomplete sentences talking. She now knows america has realized she is in fact dumb.

Any way she quit a govern the take care of her family what happen to that?

Chris Clark   November 6th, 2009 10:47 am ET

You guy rush and fumble about to slander Palin. Looking everywhere for the smallest crumb of negative press you can muster. But you hold a blind eye to those in the Obama administration and FAIL as journalist to report on REAL news. For example, where are the stories about Valerie Jarrets slums in Chicago that she receives tax payers money for repairs but does none? This is just one of many examples of the blind eye the so called "real news" organizations like CNN ignore due to their pro-Obama stance.

WisedUP.   November 6th, 2009 10:47 am ET

This is not neccessary for any 'jigged up' comments. Palin is a lady who should be able to do as she pleases. Unlike Obama at least she knows what she is doing.

just saying   November 6th, 2009 10:46 am ET

BWAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! "NO cell phones, cameras, laptops, or recording devices of ANY kind." Maybe she should just Facebook or Twitter her speech to the audience on a jumbo-screen with pictures and stuff. My God! What an imbecile. I don't blame her though. I wouldn't want the world to see me make a complete laughing-stock of myself on You Tube either.

mike   November 6th, 2009 10:46 am ET

Who cares????? What a waist of time .

Beverly   November 6th, 2009 10:45 am ET

CNN must know something that I don't as they refer to Palin being a former Republican presidential candidate. That she was the Repub VP candidate was bad enough!

So Palin won't let anyone record her. This is pretty bizarre behavior. Perhaps Palin's been palling around with people that understand that she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and therefore she's hesitant to let any astute people possibly record her words and (gasp!) hold her to them.

Paul   November 6th, 2009 10:45 am ET

What could I comment? These types of stories prove that CNN has it's head buried up the Democrats butt. People were told that those who appear to be the front runners for GOP Presidential consideration would be attacked by the Leftists. You are proving that right akso! Since Huckabee is the leader so far when can we expect his stories? You should spend more time reporting the news as opposed to trying to manipulate it.

GOPgal   November 6th, 2009 10:45 am ET

1 in 3 would vote for Palin? That's far too generous. I'd estimate 1 in 20, at best. I am a Republican, and I would not vote for her – ever. She is unfit for high office no matter what her views may be. I am surprised that people still care what this private citizen does. Palin news is thus distracting - perhaps it is meant to be?

Mike in Dallas   November 6th, 2009 10:43 am ET

Maybe if those low-life Republicants would do their jobs more Americans would have jobs. And the CLOWN paid blogger called STILL JOBLESS IN IOWA needs to update his skills. OBAMA-BIDEN 2012

Rich from Az   November 6th, 2009 10:43 am ET

What is this dunce afraid of?

BrettThomas   November 6th, 2009 10:43 am ET

She did the same thing in China. Palin has an ability to control a crowd that is scary, add that to the "no cameras policy", she seems to be instilling at every event, and it makes for a scary situation. Palin’s politics is eerily reminiscent, in most aspects, to many early fascist movements.

sue   November 6th, 2009 10:42 am ET

She probably doesn't want saturday night live to copy her. She does not have the ability to bring the Republican party back, and in fact, she does more harm than good. She should go home and raise her family.

Diane   November 6th, 2009 10:42 am ET

After thinking hard about why I don't like Palin, I realize it is because she is George Bush. She is his policies, She is his lack of intellectual curiosity, She is his shallow understanding of policies and lack of any wisdom. She is his tendency to have his religious beliefs drive policies that effect the rest of us. Look where George Bush got us. Why in God's name would anyone want more if it?
One in three Americans considering voting for her is a very frightening thought.

truth to power   November 6th, 2009 10:42 am ET

Sarah is only about Sarah. She has never evolved beyond the manipulative and narcissistic back woods prom queen she was in high school.
It is a good thing for the nation that this pathetically un-enlightened tragically ill-informed person has been seen for who and what she really is.
Of course we have to wonder what the one in three Americans who WOULD vote for her for president are thinking.
Or if they even think at all!

Ed, Santa Fe, NM   November 6th, 2009 10:41 am ET

Her "book" is highly anticipated? By whom?

She should have titled it PALIN: BY AND FOR THE ILLITERATE

Slaton   November 6th, 2009 10:41 am ET

Doesnt anybody get it ?

She's not going to run for the white house. she's just cashing in. Why suffer on 400K a year as president when you can get book deals etc...

Id say she's really pretty smart to play it like that. All the perks without the effort.

NHPoliticalGuy   November 6th, 2009 10:41 am ET

I'm not a huge fan of everything Palin does or says, and may or may not vote for her, but at least the article here could have mentioned that her book is a huge bestseller, even before it hits the shelves.

I can't imagine in my wildest dreams having Sarah Palin as President of the United States. It sends chills down my spine. This woman is out of touch with reality to even think she has the credentials to hold this powerful position.

christine case   November 6th, 2009 10:36 am ET

First you say you will, and then you won't and then you say you do and then you don't, so what are you going to do? Oh, am I a rogue or what? CNN, why do you waste our valuable time with this twit?

mabear   November 6th, 2009 10:36 am ET

Instead of speaking at these venues, why doesn't she go back to college and get a real education? Why is she so afraid of the press. Most of them are Republicans anyway? The best thing that could happen to America would be for her to take her speech money, the profits on her ridiculous book, go back to hunting animals from helicopters and stay out of everyone's lives. We need real leaders, people who care about this country, and not some 15 minutes of fame person, who out to make money, and who does not believe in many of the values she preaches. After all, she got pregnant before marriage, and her daughter did not learn the lesson and got pregnant without marriage. Palin is married to the first DUD and he really is a DUD. But, I guess that is all she deserves.

johnrj08   November 6th, 2009 10:36 am ET

Interesting. Sarah Palin, who executes animals from helicopters and makes jokes while turkeys are being slaughtered right behind her, is a "right-to-lifer". This moron is going to tell people when life begins based upon her own delusional beliefs, which include the notion that mankind walked alongside living dinosaurs.

Chris   November 6th, 2009 10:36 am ET

She was a former Republican VICE-presidential nominee, not a presidential one.

Bryan   November 6th, 2009 10:35 am ET

Typical of ultra liberal CNN to headline this story as "Ticker: Palin event 'bizarre,' Dem says" rather than just "Sarah Palin to Speak in Wisconsin." Let's now allow an opportunity to pass to put the ol' spin on a Palin event, right, CNNinnies?

Bonnie Kimberly   November 6th, 2009 10:34 am ET

I am afraid of this women. She is not the face of the GOP I want to see. She has secrets and has thoughts that are not what I call main stream right wing. She is trying to rally a base that is fringe at best and very very scarey

Leon   November 6th, 2009 10:34 am ET

Tom Sawyer   November 6th, 2009 10:33 am ET

I believe Sarah Palin is smart enough to know that she can not win the Presidential election and maybe even the GOP nomination.

Ever since her failed quest for a beauty pageant queen crown, she has been looking for way out of Alaska.

It looks like she has found her way out!

Cashing in on her "celebrity status" among dumb right-wing rednecks in America.

Jose   November 6th, 2009 10:33 am ET

Just think of the world we would live in if she was elected President. Everyone would have to agree with her or be banished from existence. God help us all if she ever gets elected.

Greg   November 6th, 2009 10:32 am ET

Yeah, this is almost as bizarre a when Pelosi only let in approved audience members around the capitol building when she unveiled the health care animosity last week. It's totally understandable that Pelosi et al. can deny the public access to a public bulding, while it is completely bizarre that Palin has restrictions to a private event. That crazy Palin!

BillMo   November 6th, 2009 10:32 am ET

So, if Mike Tate is so interested in what she has to say, let him pay the $30 and go listen. We are repeatedly told that she is insignificant but the Dems just can't let her go. I think they protest a little too much.

What a COWARD.

Sarah Palin is nothing but a FAKE and woman who hides behind the facts and truth about HER OWN LIFE let alone her competence over an over.

As a Republican, she's NOT Competent by her own standards. She's a QUITTER and now she's hiding, going to back road cities to avoid having to face AMERICANS straight on. This proves how scared Sarah Palin is that someone is going to expose her TRUE COLORS yet again and show the world she's nothing but a FRAUD and SCAM. A pretty face with NO SUBSTANCE and NO INTEGRITY. Sarah Palin has SOLD her own children and would sell her own mother for political POWER!!!

You have to ask yourself WHAT IS SARAH PALIN HIDING and WHAT IS SHE SO AFRAID OF?

Does this sound like she is getting parnoid to you? Maybe she is going to say something that is clearly out of the mainstream thinking or is going to advocate something she will regret later like violence. I think she is trying to cover herself so that what off the cuff remarks can't be used against her later. Someone is running a campaign for her already. Why else would she do this kind of thing?

Kevin   November 6th, 2009 10:28 am ET

Joel Miller   November 6th, 2009 10:28 am ET

Just to correct what you've written above, Palin was the former VP nominee, not the "former Republican presidential nominee".

Casy   November 6th, 2009 10:28 am ET

What is it with CNN's obsession with doing so many negative stories on Sarah Palin. You guys have worked overtime to paint her as crazyy, non relevent and so forth, if this is so true......why do you keep posting stories on her?

What is the obsession?

Big John   November 6th, 2009 10:28 am ET

The height of ALL hypocracy...this moron who claims to support the Constitution and the FREEDOM OF SPEECH is actually denying free people their Constitutional right to attend her event... This is a preview of what she'll do if ever elected to any other office. NO THANKS, eight years of BUsh and his free "speech zones" was too much. Thankfully we have a real president in office now.

Pepou   November 6th, 2009 10:27 am ET

JUSTMEE   November 6th, 2009 10:27 am ET

Limiting the press? Sounds like she's taking a page from the WH press office playbook. Want to talk about bizarre? How about BO taking the press along for a midnight photo op on the tarmac with the casket of one of our fallen warriors? Now that was downright creepy!

Dominican mama 4 Obama   November 6th, 2009 10:26 am ET

Can you imagine the brouhaha that right-wing low-brow extremists would raise if a Democrat, or God-forbid the President, would make a public speaking appearance and BAN the press...AND cell phones from the paying attendees???

How conveniently GOPers like Sarah forget about things like Freedom of Speech, and Constitutional Rights, and the Freedom Information Act. The very same things their Tea Baggers like to march about. There is NOTHING in the Constitution that would stand in their way (see Dick Cheney/Shrub) in order for them to achieve their objective.

Sarah is the poster child for GOP Hipocrisy, Stupidity, and Bigotry. But she photographs well doesn't she?!

Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate's statement about these restrictions being "bizarre"-"hypocritical" is BIZARRE in itself.

Palin learned from the so-called Best in Washington. When behind closed doors, wrote the health care reform bill which only affects every American (present-future) Citizen.

Obama has set his rules at some of the events!

So Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate needs to be reminded about the politics of 2008-2009,

For politicians–it is NORMAL!

The surprise is not that only one in three Americans would consider voting for her if she decided to run for president. The real surprise is that any thinking person at all would vote for her. In Alaska she showed that she did not have the stamina to complete her term. In the presidential race she showed how ill prepared she was to be vice president. How is anything she has done to date convinced anyone she would make a good president?

Republicans: America's underachievers.

Bill Hartman   November 6th, 2009 10:19 am ET

How does this woman think of herself as Presidential, when she is afraid to have anyone, anyone, record her voice in a public gathering. Is this the way that we want our leaders to act, behave and think? She is so not ready to be the leader of the "free world" ! She speaks and acts out of fear and creates a cacophony of nonsense whenever she
opens her mouth. The wordsmith of Wasilla should go home and sit by the lake and read and read and learn to construct sentences that coming out of her month can make sense.

Sarah is so last year...

Macho Macho   November 6th, 2009 10:19 am ET

I think Palin is the Republican version of the Democrat Obama. A statistical outlier. Palin is way out to the right like Obama is way out to the left, neither of them were or are qualified to lead. Too bad for the GOP they can't figure it out, GOP Conservatism should be redefined to mean Fiscal Conservatism with a focus on downsizing Government and lose all the religious based rhetoric. They might catch a lot more of the Centrist Independents if they were to clean up and do a little house keeping.

Start educating our people instead of dumbing them down so Government elitists can control them and baffle them with BS!

WhySoHypocritical?   November 6th, 2009 10:19 am ET

Gotta laugh at the Dems whinning about this. Don't they have an economy to fix? Health care to fix? A war to win? Palin could just do what the Dems do and bus in "special" guests so everything can be scripted so everything appears nice and neat....

TiredofPalin   November 6th, 2009 10:18 am ET

Seems to be the woman has something to hide and is covering her tracks before they are made. Seems like she doesn't want people to know what she really thinks unless they pay to hear her run off at the mouth. AND she doesn't want any proof that she said whatever jibberish coming out of her ridiculous mouth.

I am not a Palin fan but Bizarre is how the media continues to crucify the woman! It is funny how people like Tate can not understand why she does not want the media or recording devices. If the media does not hear what she says, how can they comment negatively on it...

Brian   November 6th, 2009 10:15 am ET

If Palin weren't an attractive woman, she'd be so long gone by now it's hard to even describe.

Puddin   November 6th, 2009 10:15 am ET

It's obvious she is trying to hide her....shall we say...... "lack of intelligence." However, she can run, but she can't hide (it).

Jackie in Dallas   November 6th, 2009 10:15 am ET

I don't find it amazing at all that recording devices of all types and the media are being kept away. With her inability to form two complete sentences, and her rather unintelligent take on most subjects, there probably won't be anything worth recording. Those who love her and don't care that she can't speak intelligibly will love her, nonetheless, and those of us who would just rather not see or hear anything more from her will be relieved not to hear more of her inanity. And to think I was seriously considering voting for McCain before he selected this airhead narcissist as his running mate!

Kevin Evansville, IN   November 6th, 2009 10:14 am ET

These right wing nut jobs give lip service to the importance of "individual freedom" ... but if ever given power, they would strip individual freedoms. Just like Bush did. They operate in the same fashion as the totalitarian Communists (of the 1950's) that they still rail against. Problem is, they just traded one extremist ideological viewpoint for another, keeping much of the underlying totalitarian infrastructure intact.

No media. No recording devices (yeah, let's see THAT one enforced). Either she wants to be the first person to give a public speech that no one hears, or she doesn't want evidence of what she plans to say.

I'd call that bizarre.

Pete   November 6th, 2009 10:12 am ET

She's a nut. Palin and Michele Bachmann need to board the crazy train and get the heck out of this country.

Rumsfeld   November 6th, 2009 10:12 am ET

Caribou Barbie doll. That's all that she really is

SammyD   November 6th, 2009 10:11 am ET

Another Palin story, everyday you report this crap. Who cares??? Why not talk about how Pelosi is not posting her bill on line 72 hours before the vote? The dems lie again and again yet you report on Palin??? Shameful at best.

Amanda   November 6th, 2009 10:11 am ET

There are a lot of people that dislike her! I'd be careful!

Bill   November 6th, 2009 10:10 am ET

Hmm, no recordings, sounds like the communist party

Karla   November 6th, 2009 10:10 am ET

Sarah needs to go, I'm tired of her. What happened to the losers fading into the sunset after election day? The people who will be attending her speech for $30 should demand their money back on the basis of her being washed up. Her 15 minutes was over on Nov. 3rd, 2008.

Jack   November 6th, 2009 10:10 am ET

I live in Wisconsin... I thought I felt a cold, dark chill in the air today..... Thanks for the heads up!

Gentwelve   November 6th, 2009 10:10 am ET

Get used to it as Palin is slowlypreparing us towards a new America where, after our upcoming economic and social collapse, those with the guns and bibles will be the authority. Enjoy your freedom while you can.

Nobody   November 6th, 2009 10:09 am ET

Of course no media is allowed and no recording devices of any sort. She doesn't want any one to be able to quote her ... you betcha! Wink, wink. And about "her" book ... I think she misread the title and thought it really said "Going Rouge..."

Stevens   November 6th, 2009 10:09 am ET

The greatest obstacle for Palin might be the common sense of the american people. But then again, there is no country in the western hemisphere that is more religious than the good old USA.
In that regard, it is lagging behind the rest of the western world, where religion is no longer an issue.

If wishes were horses,   November 6th, 2009 10:09 am ET

Whoever is taking this woman seriously, must ask themselves twice or more. What all this bizarre of wanting to be in public eyes and yet not ready to let people know what is her intentions!

John   November 6th, 2009 10:08 am ET

Barring the media is just a good way of getting media coverage. She knows that. If she didn't "ban the liberal media from slandering her" then there's no way that you would be reporting on the story. It's pathetic how easily politicians manipulate modern media.

CNN, if you want to return to greatness, you need to focus more on actual investigative reporting and less on tabloid journalism.

PubsDaddy   November 6th, 2009 10:08 am ET

She should REALLY think about going away..REALLY..PLEASE Think about dropping out of public life..PLEASE!!

Chris   November 6th, 2009 10:08 am ET

"Bizarre"?

How about passing a 1900+ page health care bill without reading it?

RoadKill   November 6th, 2009 10:06 am ET

One in three Americans actually feel good that she is no smarter than they are. That she gives substance to thier irrational beliefs. Ignorance is bliss, anyone?

El;izabeth Ludwig   November 6th, 2009 10:06 am ET

Why does it come as a surprise to you that Plain probably could not win a national election? All you would have to do to campaign against her is run clips of her VP run – can we say vapid and vacuous. The press seems enamored with her because she is an attractive woman, but most thinking people look beyond the hemline. I have Rep. friends who are so tired of the coverage of her – they put her in the Brittany category, and for once I don't argue with them.

tonyt   November 6th, 2009 10:06 am ET

Balloon Lady will speak and those who have paid the $30 admittance fee are unable to carry in cell phones, cameras, laptops, or recording devices of any kind.

Maureen Ferraro   November 6th, 2009 10:05 am ET

It feels absurd initially that she would not allow coverage,.... but then again, who cares what she has to say...its time the media stopped giving her air time.
Maybe Palin realizes this herself and is doing us all a favour!

Minnesota nice   November 6th, 2009 10:05 am ET

That is really strange...what is she afraid of? Maybe messing up her lines or saying something she didn't mean to...or wanted to but shouldn't of...well thats never happened to her before :) People striving for political office can't have it both ways...the attention without the reporting/recording. She is so over her head it is just painful to watch...and to think some people see her in a positive light for high office is simply amazing. What's her supporters battle cry..."Lets put someone like us in charge?" Sorry, but that speaks poorly to the IQ of her supporters also. What happened to the Barry Goldwater Republicans that supported a balanced budget, protecting our environment, having a strong military and being socially responsible? If only we had William F Buckley around to defend what the Republican party was and communicate in an intelligent manner what the party should represent. The party has lost its way and now is a media circus...what a disappointment!

Greg   November 6th, 2009 10:05 am ET

Gee...I wonder WHY she doesn't want the press there. You guys treat her so fairly and all.

And of course, you had to find a way to work even more conjecture in there about her running for President in 2012...I wasn't aware she had announced her candidacy yet. If you guys use up all of the nails you're putting in her coffin right now, what will you have last for future smears.

Besides that...is it really News-worthy that a Democrat is criticizing something Sarah Palin did/said/thought? She could tell a Democrat "Good morning" and he would issue a rebuttal.

Mark   November 6th, 2009 10:05 am ET

My god CNN and Palin

Pat   November 6th, 2009 10:05 am ET

since when was this woman a presidential candidate? in the haste of getting any and all info out about this woman, one did not proofread the article! It is truly amazing how much press is given to someone so irrelevant.

Mark Overstreet   November 6th, 2009 10:04 am ET

Yep still a nut!!!!!!!!

Richard   November 6th, 2009 10:04 am ET

Why is this bazarre? Obama has done this before. You guys sure seem to have it out for this woman with your anti-Palin tag lines and innuendos. I am not a big Palin fan but I find it humourous how anti Palin an "objective" news organization treats her.

Joe the Plumber   November 6th, 2009 10:04 am ET

CNN needs to fix this story. Palin didn't run for president, she ran for VICE president.

Don   November 6th, 2009 10:04 am ET

Typical CNN. Comments open on Sarah Palin, but not about the Fort Hood massacre. A troubled man, perhaps, as I imagine most terrorists are.

Dave   November 6th, 2009 10:04 am ET

Bizarre? Why? Everything the media has done to her has been disgraceful. They have relentlessy went after her family, falsely accused her of ethics violations (20 lawsuits this year alone when she was governor) and even reported that her own child actually belonged to her daughter.
Honest/objective journalism is dead in this country, which is why we now have a marxist in the white house who hung out in terrorists' living rooms and who also attended a racist church for 20 years where the recurring theme was "GD America!".

SSP   November 6th, 2009 10:04 am ET

Who is Trig Palin's biological mom?

Forrest Gerard   November 6th, 2009 10:04 am ET

Why should any voter, Democratice or Republican, take this woman seriously as a candidate for President of the United States. Her resume is slim and she bailed out as governor of Alaska when the going got tough.

Sorry, as a life long Demo, I want any presidential candidate, regardless of political ideology, to have the academic, knowledge of govenment processes, sensitivity to domestic and international challenges and judgment to lead this great nation. Palin falls short in every category.

Kent   November 6th, 2009 10:04 am ET

This woman will do anything to get in the Media. even if it means blocking the media from her events.

John   November 6th, 2009 10:04 am ET

Palin's book has become the latest bathroom book whose pages are soft enough to use when the toilet paper roll is on its final tab.

Pat   November 6th, 2009 10:03 am ET

since was this woman a presidential candidate? in the haste of getting any and all info out about this woman, one did not proofread the article! It is truly amazing how much press is given to someone so irrelevant.

Mark Voorhies   November 6th, 2009 10:03 am ET

Why is this strange, the Democrats in Washington will not let the press or the public into their hearings this week on health care. It seems they want to control the media when it fits their needs but when a private function is not covered they jump up and down. I find this behavior strange.

tonyt   November 6th, 2009 10:03 am ET

Quiter

Sarah Palin really loves Sarah Palin....everything and everyone else drops precipitously in comparison.

Moe in TN   November 6th, 2009 10:03 am ET

She's a nut anyway so why should this be any different than normal.

kcl   November 6th, 2009 10:03 am ET

Maybe you get more press coverage if you 'deny' coverage!!
Quite cunning on the Caribou Barbie's part don't cha think?.

I oppose nearly everything Palin says, and my stance on abortion matches that of the Pres (it should be safe, legal, and rare). But in this case, I say good for Sarah Palin! Here's a cause she cares about. She's trying to speak about it without being a political lightning rod. Give her room to do this without media descending on her.

P L Smith of Tucson, AZ   November 6th, 2009 10:01 am ET

Sarah Palin has been an accident waiting to happen. Why on earth anyone would pay money to hear her talk is beyond me. The GOP would really have to think outside their box to even consider her for 2012, Writing a book does not redeem her lack of common sense. She needs to go away, permanently.

ERP   November 6th, 2009 10:01 am ET

Why does CNN continue to give prominent coverage to such a white trash nonentity? By doing this you are lowering your journalistic standards to the level of trash tabloids.

Anderson   November 6th, 2009 10:01 am ET

I'm guessing they are still allowed to tote their guns??

Kenny   November 6th, 2009 10:01 am ET

I can't wait until she is President of the United States, so she can give a State of the Union Address into her mirror because she banned the media, the general public, and anybody that didn't pay for it to attend. Maybe she can sell the rights to the cable companies and make it a pay-per-view event instead.

You can say what you want about Clinton, Bush, Obama, etc., but all of these guys could take the heat and intense scrutiny that comes with the office. This woman, however, agrees to put herself into the spotlight (for paying customers only), then whines that the media makes her look stupid. Hint to Sarah: it ain't the media that makes you look stupid honey.

bill9860   November 6th, 2009 10:00 am ET

I find it no more bizarre than the White House view toward Fox News and shunning them. Lots of goofy stuff going on on both sides.

jirryy   November 6th, 2009 9:59 am ET

Perhaps the ban on press and communication devices will be a blessing, and she won't have the usual widespread media coverage (I hope). I wish my twisted sense of humor didn't predispose me to read "highlights" from any of her public speaking engagements.

emptypockets   November 6th, 2009 9:59 am ET

Sorry Sarah, everyone knows by now your a dummy. Locking out the world from your rambling won't help.

frank   November 6th, 2009 9:59 am ET

dems just want to destroy her.....they know that if americans know the real Palin thye would vote for her...because she is normal, real....not a fake like the Pres.
it is going to be hard for palin...but she is a fighter

This is scary...1 in 3 Americans seriously think about voting Sarah Palin as President...wow I did not know we had so many fools amongst us...

Susie   November 6th, 2009 9:58 am ET

This woman should step aside from the media hype that she loves so much. As long as it is me me me me me me she seems happy. She shoud look to her own family. She says she is for ethical family values and yet her own family are falling apart. She needs to learn humility and dignity and start to give a better example to her children especially her daughters.

I believe she is a political has been and should now go away.

Chris Call   November 6th, 2009 9:58 am ET

Kevin Collins   November 6th, 2009 9:58 am ET

Hypocritical, that's for darn sure. Of course, this shouldn't come as a surprise in light of Palin's history of flip-flopping. She was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it; she was in favor of end-of-life counseling in April 2008 yet spoke against it this year; and so on.

carol   November 6th, 2009 9:57 am ET

The media does not need to be there because she has nothing to say.

Joe, Chicago IL   November 6th, 2009 9:56 am ET

Obama sealed all his records/reports/essays from his schooling and teaching days.

Why can't Palin request a media cutout at a private function?

One other question...why is the media and the Dem party so obsessed with her, when we are fighting a WAR, UNEMPLOYMENT BROKE 10% and they want to SOCIALIZE 30% of our GDP?

all the news that's fit to omit   November 6th, 2009 9:56 am ET

Time for he daily CNN Palin posting where the liberals wake up at the crack of noon, look in their mailbox for a check and when there is none, they take out there anger on Palin who is far more successful than any of them will ever be.

No fan of Palin, except I respect her for dealing with the vicious slings and arrows by so called feminazi's as she doesn't fit in their little girl box that she supposedly should be in.

CNN how about the NEWS story where Bart Stupak a DEMOCRAT and 40 or so other DEMOCRATS are trying to get language put in the bill that will not allow for ABORTIONS to be covered and Ms. Pelousy is hammering them for doing so?

Who is not a news organization Barry?

Lisa   November 6th, 2009 9:56 am ET

She's interviewing with Barbara Walters?! Hahaha. She will get crushed in that one. So she claims to be "Rogue" and "Mavericky" but hides from the media (at this event) and also refuses to visit BIG cites during her book tour. Hmm, hey Right Wing Nuts – how can you possibly want her for President? Someone who hides from half of America, turns her back and won't listen to people who disagree with her. Everything would be HER way or the highway. And you think WE are scared of HER. She seems to be the one scared. LOL

MatthewDetroit   November 6th, 2009 9:55 am ET

Why dont the Dems stop worrying about Sarah Palin and Health Care,

And.. Start worrying about unemployment which is now 10%....

What have you saved or created today Barack.... Nothing.. Exactly.

Face it guys, no matter how much you guys try to demonize this woman and try to diminish her relevance, she's not going away any time soon.

Jeff   November 6th, 2009 9:54 am ET

Your article here referes to Ms. Palin as the "the former Republican presidential nominee ." You people in the news business need to get your facts straight. I don't recall Sarah Palin having run for president.

Joe in CT - not Lieberman!!!   November 6th, 2009 9:53 am ET

If she really wants to keep a low profile, she should move to Point Barrow and stay there!

Dennis Brower   November 6th, 2009 9:53 am ET

No matter what she does, it's labled as bizarre, weird, different, unusual. No doubt that if she didn't have any media limits, she would be criticized for being a glutton for attention, using the pro-life movement to push her agenda. She just can't win with the liberals so she doesn't bother. Way to go Sarah. Just do things as you see fit.

The Truth   November 6th, 2009 9:53 am ET

Major obstacles huh? Like she will never win.

Yes that is a major obstacle.

Dennis, DC   November 6th, 2009 9:52 am ET

Isolating herelf in a bubble, shutting out scrutiny, just like GW. I'm sure she, like the extremist conservatives who support her, would prefer to govern by fiat on behalf of a few, rather than by reflecting the values of American populace as a whole.

Chuck   November 6th, 2009 9:51 am ET

It is probably best we don't hear what she has to say. I am sure we won't be deprived of any wisdom...

Mark   November 6th, 2009 9:51 am ET

1 in 3 people would vote for her! That is considered low! To me that suggests 33% of the people in this country would be comfortable with her in the White House. Look, my politics are probably more right leaning than left, but even I recognize she's a nit-wit who should have stayed behind the anchors desk reading a tele-prompter.

I genuinely think people in this country are getting progressively less intelligent with every passing year.

Roger   November 6th, 2009 9:51 am ET

So the guy thinks its bizarre. Wow!!!!!! I'm glad he told us that. I mean no one could have ever figured out Palin is bizarre without him telling us that. Hey Tate where were you last year at this time? Didn't palin show us how bizarre she was out campaigning?

John   November 6th, 2009 9:51 am ET

Palin is stupid and evil. She represents the fascist far right conservative wing of the republican party. She and her handlers will not allow anyone to record anything she says or does because once her true beliefs become know she will be revealed as the AH she is.

Tracy   November 6th, 2009 9:51 am ET

"Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.. the former Republican presidential nominee...."

Presidential nominee? Anyone there a fact checker? Remember John McCain? Palin was the VICE presidential nominee.

sue   November 6th, 2009 9:50 am ET

The libs keep calling her names. Their attempt to character bash, as usual. Sarah really gets their dander up, doesn't she.

Teddy Monroe   November 6th, 2009 9:49 am ET

Why is CNN so obsessed with Sarah Palin? Every day there's an article about what she's doing? Cover the news please. You are always late to the party because your resources are spent following an obsession.

GOPer   November 6th, 2009 9:49 am ET

Let me guess: No cameras, phones or recording devices at her book signings. This woman is a joke.

mjm   November 6th, 2009 9:49 am ET

10.2 unemployment and all the Dems can do is bash Palin.

I know she's hot, but quit stalking her.

She never said she was running for anything.

American Expat   November 6th, 2009 9:48 am ET

What a laugh! She does not want anyone to have a device to capture the gaffs she will probably dish out! She does not have even a remote chance of ever becoming president of this great country. Some of the American people may be dumb, but that is a very, very small segment. The people know a looser when they see or hear one!

Rick W   November 6th, 2009 9:48 am ET

She has a better chance of getting a seat on "The View" than she has at getting one in the White House. Have you ever REALLY listened to what she says? This is a scary woman folks. All of you ladies out there that like her Cupie doll face and "AW SHUCKS" demeanor remember one thing. If Sarah had her way you'd be back in the kitchen with ankle biters at your feet instead of advancing your carreers. That's Sarah's answer to the unemployment problem. How seriously do you think foreign leaders would take the United States with her sitting across the table relating one of her Alaskan frontier witticisms?
You had your fifteen minutes of fame Sarah. You should go back to Alaska now, it's darn near moose season.

Juan   November 6th, 2009 9:47 am ET

Sarah Palin needs to return home and really keep a low profile.

susie   November 6th, 2009 9:47 am ET

Palin couldn't do any worst than Obama.

Sharon   November 6th, 2009 9:47 am ET

Sarah Palin is a coward and only wants money. She can't stand the heat, which is really why she is not in the kitchen. She is a QUITTER! Any one that will quit will never be a winner.

Suzan   November 6th, 2009 9:47 am ET

Her telling the media that they are barred from her appearances, and that the people cannot have cell phones or cameras is kind of like the Leaders of Communist countries telling their people what they can and can not say or do or think or what they can believe in and what they can't.....If this woman every got into the WH this is just what she would do and that is take all our rights away.......controll the Media like Iran controlls their Media........she is more dangerous to this country than any Terrorist...........Really what it boils down to is she is afraid of the Main Stream media, she is afraid of facing their questions, knowing full well she can't answer them with logical answers.......if she can't face the Media of this country what would she do having to face the Leaders of the World and World Media.....LOSER AND QUITTER

Shay   November 6th, 2009 9:47 am ET

Palin is bizarre! She is sickening! Why do the Republicans continue this love affair with an airhead???????????? I guess they don't have anything better!!!!

MS   November 6th, 2009 9:46 am ET

A democrat saying "it really is sort of hypocritical to not let the media, the press cover your event"? After what the White House did to Fox News? Seriously? Like Fox News or not, even rest of the press agreed it wasn't right.

Pat   November 6th, 2009 9:46 am ET

So Sarah Palin doesn't want the government to get between you and your doctor, unless you're a pregnant woman.

Andy   November 6th, 2009 9:46 am ET

Even though Palin acted like she was a Presidential candidate as indicated in your article...in fact she ran for the VP post which I am pleased she did not win.

Vivian Losser   November 6th, 2009 9:45 am ET

Well CNN, she is not a "former Republican presidential nominee", but keep up the good work on trying to discredit her as a viable future one (< dripping with sarcasm).

Jeff   November 6th, 2009 9:45 am ET

What do you expect from this twit? All she is doing is preaching to her choir.

Edward Veidt   November 6th, 2009 9:45 am ET

Why is Palin afraid that people will take note of what she says? How can she be so bold as to speak at a public event, yet so insecure that she demands that no one outside the event be told about it?

Shadysider   November 6th, 2009 9:44 am ET

She's a nutjob. She knows mainstream America thinks she's whacked out, and anything she says is going to be put on youtube for everyone's entertainment. Her views are so out of joint with the vast majority of America, and the fact that she is trying to hide it could be an indication that she is going to say things that would create an atmosphere of hate, ditrust, and outright racism. Except that she already did that on the campaign trail.

Bob   November 6th, 2009 9:44 am ET

Looks like Sarah is afraid of her own words or actions showing up on youtube or similar. My eighteen-year-old daughter is more articulate and knowledgable than Sarah. Face it, Sarah is going to rake in as much money as possible. McCain punched her earnings ticket last year. If America ever elects her to the White House then America is too dumb to continue to be a global superpower.

Terry, TX   November 6th, 2009 9:44 am ET

Why should she allow the media....Pelosi didn't have an open gathering when she unfolded her 2,000 page takeover of the medical industry in a recession. California please vote anybody...anyone...whoever...to take her Senate seat ....the good citizens of Nevada seem to be taking care of Harry Reid for the Nation. Sarah Palin....in no longer a government employee....she can do anything she wants. Lay off her.

Ed, Santa Fe, NM   November 6th, 2009 9:44 am ET

A Wisconsin cheese is smarter than this boob.

Terry from West Texas   November 6th, 2009 9:44 am ET

I suspect Ms Palin's mental stability, frankly. Everything I have read suggests that she is, at the least, a bit strange. For one thing, she and her staff are concealing her massive ignorance of almost everything. Anyone who can't think of a book she's read or a newspaper she reads is certainly out of touch with the outside world. Secondly, she seems vengeful and wants to punish those who have opposed her by using her power (as governor, for example) against them. This is certainly petty. Thirdly, she and her husband have relationships with political nut-groups who want to secede from the US.

This woman is a loose cannon. If she is ever elected to anything else, God forbid, we are likely to find out just how batty she really is.

Mike Warner   November 6th, 2009 9:43 am ET

I hope Sarah continues her march towards the republican presidential nomination! That way we will have a democrat in the white house for many years to come!

Debby   November 6th, 2009 9:42 am ET

Oh shut up Tate you are probably pro-choice so its really none of your buisness. Liberals are a piece of work.

Gary in PA   November 6th, 2009 9:42 am ET

In my opinion, it's all about money. Her speech can be edited and then sold to the highest bidder. Editing will prevent the public from seeing all her mistakes, too.

FeelingMinnesota   November 6th, 2009 9:42 am ET

God bless McCain for unleashing this nut on the world. I can't wait until 2012. The Republicans are going to crash and burn with Palin in the mix.

steve in ohio   November 6th, 2009 9:42 am ET

O.K. CNN...enough already! Is this a news organization or just 'All things Palin"? Are you trying to prove she's an idiot? If so, when is enough? Al Gore is an idiot and we don't see every other story on the ticker about him. There are several idiots in the current administration, just pick one and run with it. These people are, at least, in a position to affect the direction of the United States. But no, let's fixate on Sarah Palin. Let's write every other news story about Sarah Palin. There must be a reason for this constant attention on a woman who doesn't even hold a government position. Well actually, there are two.

First, she gets your base riled up. EVERY story about Palin maxes out on the comment board. Write about her endorsement-max out the comments. Write about where she is today-max out the comment board. Write about what she ate for lunch yesterday-max out the comment board.

Second, she scares the hell out of you guys and the best way to keep her from being a hinderance to your agenda is to keep the pressure on. Gone are the days of agencies reporting the NEWS, instead of orchestrating the reporting in order to serve personal agendas. You guys are pathetic.

Bob   November 6th, 2009 9:42 am ET

She wasn't a "presidential nominee" as the article states.

Will the press please stop giving Ms Palin the time of day. She has nothing to do with public policy. She's out right now making money (and there is nothing wrong with that). So let her make her money and live her life. What she does or does not do is NOT news.

What is she hiding? If I were a supporter of hers and paid my price of admission, I would be highly insulted that I could not even get photos of her. I have great photos of political rallies – from George H.W. Bush and Bob Dole to Hillary Clinton (so don't think this is a dem vs. rep thing). She is continuing to prove herself as nothing more than some nut job who is not quite "Rogue" enough to speak freely in front of a bunch of supporters without the fear that she might say something stupid and have it appear on YouTube.

Why give her any credence? Is she trustworthy? I would not walk two steps to buy her book. She is on a money making venture – egotistical she is.

First Hong Kong...now Wisconsin. Is Palin afraid of the public actually hearing what she herself has to say as opposed to the filtered material that her publicists approve for her blog and Twitter pages? Clearly she is not ready for prime time if she can't be seen in public.

This is not news. Why the story on Palin every day. 90% of Americans dont care.

Please dont tell me the good ole boys are already shuning palin

Truly a no-brainer here. This wannabe manipulator is keeping a low profile because she has little or no profile. I say we get Katie Curic (sp?) to ask some questions.
