U.S. unemployment rate climbs to 10.2 percent

And we are still bringing 125,000 foriegn workers month and have 12 to 20 million illegal immigrant workers and their families still in this country. Just think of all the jobs available if the laws of this great country were upheld. The real number of unemployed and under employed is even higher. Put a freeze on foriegn workers and enforce the laws so illegal immigrants cannot find jobs. E-Verify is the most accurate system the government has ever developed. (99.6%)

Didn't our sorry excuse of a president guarantee that if the stimulus bill passed that unemployment wouldn't go over 8%? This guy is an inefective sham and as soon as we can get him out of office the better we all will be...IMPEACH OBAMA NOW...save our country !

10.2 percent without counting the other 10.2% that have exhausted their benefits or taken any part-time employment they can find. Reality would be more like 20+% and climbing. What is the Democrats response to assist small businesses in creating jobs? Push a climate change bill that will cost us all about a 20% increase in everything we consume, push a healthcare reform bill that will further crush small businesses and the tax paying middle class, and push a mandate for paid sick days.

Oh yeah, they are the right track!

Not to worry folks, we are now close to the tipping point, wait till that 20% gets tired of eating beenie weenies for dinner every night while the elitists in Washington eat steak!

Great job Obama!! Your lie to pass the pork filled stimulus to keep unemployment below 8%..................Obama has no clue what he is doing, spending/printing money we don't have, making policies that will cause businesses to leave this country and the ones that stay to NOT do any hiring. Great job............clueless Tax and spend Democrat. Any republican would have had the economy on the mend by now, this recession is lasting longer than it should because of Obama!

It has been 11 months it is far beyond the time for this administration to take ownership for the country's state and stop blaming backwards.

And to those who say we have had 8 years of getting us into this... You and I both know that is an exaggeration and at this point is a moot point as things are getting worse not staying the same and not getting better.

The blame someone else mentality is what is making us a weak country, people need to take possession of their problems and work as hard as they can to improve things and that goes for the Government as well. This needs to apply to all parties and all people on all levels of Government. I am a former Republican and now I am an independent... Enough of the 2 parties and people following party lines.

Obama promised that it would go no higher than 8 percent. Something is not working.

10.2 % unemployment that's all you have to report. Again how do you impact unemployment with trillions of dollars of pork...cash for clunker at $24,000 a car....the takeover of our medical industry....bailouts.....and taxing businesses in a recession ...it just ain't working....DUH.
These White House solutions just ain't working...and the buck stops there..

The reason our unemployment is skyrocketing is because most jobs are being offshored to India and elsewhere where labor is cheap. How about we close our borders like Japan did and stop letting companies offshore jobs left and right and rein in the ridiculous salaries of CEOs who honestly do nothing.

Ok CNN, it's time to quit hiding the facts of the Obama FAILED stimulus package and start doing some real reporting. Remember when we were told we HAD TO PASS this unread bill in just Three short days or our unemployment rate would rise to over 8%. This bogus stimulus has now been shown for what it was intended, payback to Obama's contributers onthe taxpayers backs. And now today, the house will vote on another UNREAD health care bill that will be a government takeover of one-sixth of the economy.

YOU CANNOT CONTINOUSLY INCREASE THE WEEKS OF UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS! Some one has to finally do something positive about the economy and jobs. Forget health care for now , people on the hill need to set jpriorities.

Between the stratospheric fiscal debt load, the impending health reform efforts, impending end to Bush's tax cuts, mob vitriol over corporate profits, and proposed energy taxes this administration is clearly eroding business confidence and hiring.
We don't need to grow more government jobs; we need private sector relief in the form of tax credits and lower capital gains taxes, as well as a clear voice that in America we seek to grow our economy and raise up living standards for all by that route, rather than taxing successful endeavors at Euro-levels.
Stop government growth and vigorously support individuals and business.

But I thought the stimulus was creating or saving jobs!! Take the rest of the stimulus which clearly hasn't worked and pay for healthcare for the 12 million un insured. There you go. Then change the law to outlaw "pre-existing conditions", put restrictions on the amount premiums can go up. There you go. Instead crazy pelosi needs 2000 pages to screw up this country.

Where is the "free market" in all of this. Oh! must be counting all the money they have made not hiring more workers and making those who have a job do more for less.

Think of how much more money the employer's would have if they had single payer non-profit universal health care instead of for profit insurance/ affordable energy not dictated by big oil. See Republicans how things really do interconnect. Then more jobs could be available unless the employer decided to keep all the money for themselves.

Fear/hate/obstructionism will not solve the problem.

Only we have Obama, aka the most unqualified president ever, and the Democrats instead of Reagan, aka one of the greatest presidents of all time (no matter what liberal nut jobs say).

Let's see who gets better results.

Tax and Spend, or tax cuts for all and fiscal responsibility.

When Bush was president, Democrats used to blast him for a 4.5% unemployment rate. Obama has been President for a year and the rate is now 10.2%!

It's safe to say that the Spendulous package was a complete disaster!

Oh great bring on the repugs who will blame it on government spending, healthcare reform, and whoever/whatever else is marching to the beat of Sarah Palin's drum! Yes unemployment is at 10.2 percent but let's rememeber that 89.8 percent of Americans are working!!!
