Washington (CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's sharp criticism of the media won't stop her from breaking bread with journalists next month at a dinner here in the nation's capital.
The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee will be the GOP speaker at the Gridiron Club and Foundation's annual winter dinner, the organization announced Friday.
House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Massachusetts, will be the Democratic speaker at the Dec. 5 event.
Palin's appearance at the Gridiron dinner will come a few weeks after her new book, "Going Rogue: An American Life," goes on sale.

Enough! Get her off the news.
Funny how CNN leaves it open for endless comments about Palin or any other conservatives but closes the ones for Healthcare quickly.
(Sorry, just can't resist...)
What's the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom?
Pit bulls don't quit...
Keep digging Sara, you may get to china! I love your looks, I think that got you a long way. Have you seen Russia from your porch lately? How is Mr. MacSame? I will buy the Playboy if you are in it!
I dislike Ms Palin as much as anyone, but folks, calm down. Don't let her get the best of you. Some of you are going to have a stroke. Ms Palin will disintegrate by herself soon enough. Just give her time.
IF and I says IF she actually shows up
Comic relief? Not funny at all. The scariest people are those so incompetent and dense that they do not realize they are. Hubris. (but they wouldn't know what that is)
Fasinating! The same people who are calling VP Biden an idiot are also the very ones who believe Sara Palin is intelligent and qualified to be President. Incredible!
She needs the money and her book is in book-stores every-where.
While the left continuously self deludes itself over its intellectual superiority and how stupid Republicans like Palin are, I see nothing but Soviet/Mao style mindless sloganeering being reflexively spewed forth with nearly epileptic efficiency (with approximately the same level of highly organized cerebral activity and insight as the epileptic in mid-convulsion) by the left on this blog.
CNN, with their tanking ratings, is a joke...and Saracuda's Tsunami is coming.....this will be fun
It's amazing how many libs here keep repeating that they aren't afraid of Sarah Palin. Me thinks the leftists do protest too much. That's the tune they choose as they whistle past the graveyard. Gov. Palin has chosen faith, family, femininity, pro life beliefs, motherhood, attractiveness, and a host of other things lefties hate. Those are among the very things they've spent generations telling their Amy Carter clone daughters were recipes for failure. And, if I'm not mistaken, she didn't even have the common social graces to attend the Ivy League, or abort her special needs child. For shame.
Think I should attend. I need a good laugh, but in reality I would probably just get sick! For anyone to pay attention to this woman & admire her is a total insult to those women that have truly succeeded in their lives and have some kind of standards!
Palin isn't worth the media coverage...her fifteen minutes are up, and no Sarah, you can't have another minute!
So do you suppose "baked crow" is on the menu???????
Can you say Hypocrite? I knew you could... Sarah, can you spell it? No? Too complicated??? Maybe if you learned to have an opinion that had value, we might listen to you. But, the only way you get press is to express extremeist, racist, ignorant opinions. Because you know, that Katie Couric is sure a tough reporter. That question about which newspapers you read was a realy tricky one. Do you know how to read, Sarah?
She'll cancel and then deny that she ever signed on to be at this function. It's what she does - she's a liar who couldn't even hold her own a journalist, let alone take any of their questions without looking extremely stupid. So it will come out that the person who planned for her keynote appearance will have egg on his/her face and Palin will laugh herself silly. Then again, she's too much of a coward to say anything that is intelligent so maybe its best she stays away.
The hatred of the looney, radical left wing-nut Obama supporters is hilarious. From the name calling to the outright lies, it shows the bigotry and hatred our President inspires in his followers as he continues to work to divide the people of this country for his own power. Obama stated that unemployment would not rise over 8% if the unread "stimulus" was passed. Palin stated that the "stimulus" would NOT curb rising unemployment. The false illusion of Obama's intelligence is starting to show as Palin is proving much more knowledgable about the economy than the pretender in chief we were fooled into electing for President.
See you Sarah in the White House 2012!
At least there will be no media boycott on Gridiron Bowl 2009, get ready for bowl season, and it's real early
served with barf bags I hope!
Okay "tea partiers" I have a question- actually 2 questions,
1st Question I get why the insurance companies are against this (after all if UPS or Fed Express could get rid of the Post Office and charge whatever the hell they want for sending packages I could understand them wanting to do so). I also get why the GOP leadership is against this bill as well (one need only lokk at how long they were out of power after being against Social Security) But why oh why are regular people against this?
2nd Question. If it really is about te money wher the hell were you guys when George W Bush decided we should spend 12 million dollars an hour on a war against a counrty that never attacked us? It has been a while but when W took office we were looking forward to surplusses as far as the eye could see. But that didn't seem to bother you did it?
She probably won't show up. Or she'll quite half-way through.
This woman will do anything as long as she is the center of attention!
I can't wait for Palin becomes president in 2012.
If Obama passes the public option health care then Palin can expand health care rules so that we can deny health care to all communist, totalitarian minded people.
And if Obama passes the fairness doctrine, then Palin should aggressively force CNN and other left media to "balance" their reporting with the conservative point of view.
