Palin is again saying the new health care bill will establish 'death panels.'
Palin is again saying the new health care bill will establish 'death panels.'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin is returning to the two words widely credited with helping to spur angry town-halls on health care reform over the summer: "death panels."

In a Facebook post over the weekend, the former Alaska governor launched into a torrent of criticism about the recently-passed House health care reform bill, including the notion "bureaucratic panels" will ultimately decide who lives and who dies.

"We had been told there were no 'death panels' in the bill either," Palin wrote in the post. "But look closely at the provision mandating bureaucratic panels that will be calling the shots regarding who will receive government health care."

Palin initially backed the death panel claim early last August in comments that sparked many of her supporters, and critics of the health care reform bill as a whole, to publicly express their disapproval at heated town-hall forums across the country.

The words "death panel" are nowhere to be found in the bill, but the phrase soon became among the most searched on Google, and President Obama directly rebutted Palin's claim a week later.

In her recent Facebook post, Palin didn't offer further evidence of the establishment of death panels. The non-partisan FactCheck.org has refuted her argument.

"The fact remains that the bill wouldn't require patients to receive counseling sessions, nor would it require a doctor to offer one. Rather, it modifies Section 1861(s)2 of the Social Security Act, defining what services Medicare will pay for. So if a patient receives a counseling session from a doctor or health care practitioner, he or she doesn't have to pay for it – Medicare will," the organization wrote.

I fail to see the difference in a Death Board of Directors and a Death Panel....oh right – the executive compensation.

Never could figure out if she jus lies, doesn't know any better or a combination of both. Whatever it is, she is a nationa disgrace and an embarssment to anyone with an i.q over 75. She's smart in a way, though as she's making a mint with all this. Shame Jerry Springer's show is long gone, the Palins would have been perfect.

Jim   November 9th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

This woman never misses an opportunity to portray herself as a completely uninformed moron.

Michael   November 9th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

...""bureaucratic panels" will ultimately decide who lives and who dies".

Dear Ms. Quitter...who do you think controls your (oooopppsss, I mean OUR) healthcare now?

Could it be "bureaucratic panels" whose main concern is making a profit, not whether the best decision is being made for the patient?

Phillippa   November 9th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

I am so tired of her fear-mongering and lies! She does not know what she is talking about (but what else is new?). The woman spouts an endless stream of drivel, of gibberish.

Anyone who believes a word out of her mouth is just as dumb as she is, probably.

And yes, if you think the INSURANCE COMPANIES aren't "death panels," then you're wack! At least with a public option, we won't be at the mercy of these callous criminals–the insurance companies–any longer.

Unless, like Republicans do, we choose to let big business trump human concerns.

dave   November 9th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

what in God's name do you think insurance companies are that refuse to cover a cancer patient because of pre existing conditions?...DEATH PANELS!
Why is this woman such a "woodhead"

Phil Korista   November 9th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

This is very simple-does she have evidence that backs up her claims? No. So, if there is no evidence, than we should conclude that there isn't a death panel. And we are talking about patient -doctor counseling, not buerocrats doing this. If I was dying, knowing that my illness was terminal, I'd want to decide how I'd like to die- I wouldn't want to be left in a coma. I'd want to die peacefully so my family and friends could grieve, and move on knowing that it was what I wanted. I'm sick and tired of the fear mongering. I'm not afraid, I'm not ignorant, and any fear monger should search their souls.

Listen up GOP-this is who you agree with, hence, your party has no credibility...

Former Iowa Boy   November 9th, 2009 12:34 pm ET

Sarah Palin is a nut-job. Its that simple. Lie, obfuscate, mislead, distort– take your pick– these are the Hockey Mom's running mates.

chandra   November 9th, 2009 12:33 pm ET

Let us not worry about this fringe group. Majority support health care reform. The 10% which depends on the insurance and healthcare indusrty for their living are opposed to this and let them be.

Senators – get this done right away and move forward with better heatlhcare for all in USA.

Jim M   November 9th, 2009 12:33 pm ET

Someday, when the liberal media tired of ridiculing Ms. Palin, they will realize she is one of the very few to risk ridicule by speaking the truth.

liberal in west texas   November 9th, 2009 12:33 pm ET

I know this has probably already been said, but here it goes–insurance companies use "death panels." This whole argument that the GOP is clinging to is based on a peer-reviewed article that was co-authored by Ezekiel Emanuel that advocated using a patient's age as ONE factor in deciding whether he should be given access to a limited medical resource (organ transplantation as an example). As with most things written or said that have any political bearing, this has been taken completely out of context by the GOP. The bill that passed in the House allows for a "public option" but it remains to be seen if that aspect will make it to the final draft. I would argue that anyone who takes Palin's argument at face-value is simply taking a shortcut to thinking.

HBO   November 9th, 2009 12:33 pm ET

Let's put the blame where it belongs... JOHN MCCAIN is responsible for giving this stupid woman voice of any kind. Letting a fool talk only encourages him or her. The bigger the fool the more encouraged to babble foolish things they become.

Will it ever stop with the Sarah stuff?

Jim, San Antonio   November 9th, 2009 12:33 pm ET

This woman is totally out of control. It's too bad there's no such thing as death panels because she would be the first one in line!

Joe   November 9th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

It would be best if CNN and the other media outlets stopped covering ever stupid thing that idiot says or types. She is only still relevant because they make her so.

mjm   November 9th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

For those of us who know how to read, Palin is 100% correct.

Not only that, but for those of you (LacrosseMom) who believe 45000 people die every year because they lack health insurance (not true), this bill leaves 3 million uninsured. 45000 will still die (not really) because the Democrats failed in covering eveyone with thie bill.

Do they know exactly when this new health care option goes broke?

Armey was so right on about what he said in an eailier post.

Shelli   November 9th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

The thing that scares me is there are people in this country who actually listen to this idiot. To those people: Sarah Palin is a moron...she is lying...there are no death panels....sheesh...

Ryan   November 9th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

Funny thing is, there is only one state in the union that has anything that could reasonably be construed as a "death panel." A statue in Texas (ironically signed into law by then governor George W. Bush) gives hospital administrators the power to pull the plug on patients on life support who are no longer considered "viable" if the family cannot find a new facility to care for them.

T Adams   November 9th, 2009 12:32 pm ET

I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the HATE.HATE.HATE spewed on this woman by the lefties on this site!!! You people are truly pathetic! Everyone has their own right to interpret this bill anyway they see fit based on facts. I suggest the vast majority of whiners pull their heads out of their rears and READ THE BILL!! Face the fact that your opinions have been crafted for you and everything you blame on this woman and the GOP, you are guilty of ten fold....Talk about fear mongering, think about what trial lawyers would lead you to believe about insurance companies!! This is America after all, so any person should have the right to never buy insurance, and then when they get sick, walk into the office one day and expect a private company and their policy holders to absorb all the costs of their treatment, and then further absorb the costs of their malpractice litigation! Call this bill what it is, which is an advancement of an already corrupt and bankrupt social welfare system run amok. Makes good sense for my kids!! NOT!! Stop looking to me and my kids for your handouts!!

Dennis B. Morse   November 9th, 2009 12:31 pm ET

Yes there are death panels but we call them accountants with the insurance companies. I had a friend that died because they would not give him a bone marrow transplant and he had to wait a year before the could get treatment but he dies after eleven months.
So death panels do exist and they are with the health insurance companies so look closer at what already is in place and stop trying to bring up the boggie man Shara.
Dennis

Michael   November 9th, 2009 12:30 pm ET

I'd like to know what the GWCTTH (Governor who couldn't take the HEAT) thinks the insurance companies are doing everyday. They review the case, say it was a pre-existing condition or that the maximum for that case has been spent. The patient with the terminal illness is "sentenced to death" when they drop the patient from their rolls. Death panels are something the insurance companies thought of long ago. But, this woman never was one to let the FACTS get in the way of her rhetoric!

Kate C   November 9th, 2009 12:30 pm ET

Will this woman not just Go Away???? I guarantee I'd leave this country in a nanosecond if she ever steps foot into the White House. We do not need FEAR ruling us, we need brains, and she is sorely lacking them. I don't for a second believe this is about "republican" versus "Democrat", this is about lobbyists and their money.

Time to move forward past fear and into action. Please. This country cannot take any more fear-based government.

so   November 9th, 2009 12:30 pm ET

She is right!!! The government won't be able to sustain the American people for long... It may not be known as a "death panel" but there will be a panel to overlook medical files. Not everyone will have the same treatment and now that it isn't in the publics hands we will have our choices made for us. This is not good people, not good at all!

Hugh   November 9th, 2009 12:30 pm ET

Page and paragraph please? God what an idiot she is, making an interpretation and staement like that. No doubt that is why the AARP decided to back it, apparently you get suicidal as soon as you retire.

Liberal Democrats led by Pelosi just passed the worst healthcare bill ever according to the Wall Street Journal and you are writing about Palin!! Palin is not a repsentative in Congress or the Senate so who care what she thinks. Lets hear about that schmuck Chet Edwards who got a free pass to vote against the healthcare bill from Pelosi. Edwards has always talked about voting for it. What a hypocrite.

Steve   November 9th, 2009 12:29 pm ET

She quits when the going gets tough, she destroyed a Presidential campaign, and she makes up lies about a health care reform that will help millions of americans who are currently at the mercy of the REAL death panels, the Insurance companies and their 'previous condition' travesty. I will never ever understand why the Right are so determined to stop the poor and the oppressed getting what every american should have. Did I just answer my own question?

Sarah Palin is a terrorist and anti-American, and should be treated as such.

Yep.................she would not let in free food.

yep............she would let people starve and die.

Al from Denver   November 9th, 2009 12:28 pm ET

Please CNN, we the main stream citizens are sick and tired of hearing the ignorance spewing from a truly uneducated, hate spewing individual who is milking her 15 minutes of fame for everything it's worth. The majority of us come to CNN to get the real news, not the biased garbage that Fox reports. Why do we have to be subjected to stories about and individual who has obviously sold her soul to the highest bidder. She is a quitter and a role model to only those who believe the nonsense and ignorance she posts on her Facebook wall. Please, stop giving this uninformed, fear mongering, money grabbing individual a forum for sharing her nonsense.

scott from michigan   November 9th, 2009 12:28 pm ET

The real "death panels" are the insurance companies themselves. Think it through, who decides on your claims? Who decides if a treatment is "experimental" or to costly to pay for? Who is making a profit off these decisions? What bothers me the most is that American citizens miss this point, it's the insurance company making the decisions about your life and death. Now we are faced with mandatory health insurance, a huge windfall for the insurance companies and guess what, if the health reform goes through with the provision that no one will be rejected because of "existing health issues" then we will see the insurance companies raise their premiums to cover the cost. I want the public option, I want the choice OF a co-op, I want the right to shop across state lines for insurance, I REFUSE TO ALLOW THE INSURANCE COMPANIES TO CONTINUE TO MURDER PEOPLE IN THE NAME OF CAPITIALISM!!!

Bubba   November 9th, 2009 12:28 pm ET

George James   November 9th, 2009 12:26 pm ET

As a politician, you can become popular through idiocy and stupid behavior.Take the examples of Sara Palin and Michael Backman.

Doug   November 9th, 2009 12:26 pm ET

The truth is in the language of the bill, which nobody will see until after it has been voted on. The house passed their version, 220-215. The Senate will take it up at some point. If they pass the senate version, it will then go to committee, and even Charlie Rangell told John Boehner before the vote, there is no guarantee that the amendment that prohibited Federal funding for abortion will be included in the final bill, just as Boehner was pointing out.

The "Death Panels" brought up by Palin don't refer to something actually called a Death Panel, rather the result of the legislation requiring that Seniors will recieve less medical treatment and services, and as the President stated in his ABC lovefest for healthcare, that seniors would have to take pain medication instead.

Now that's compassion.

Seniors need to stand up and tell their senators to vote down the healthcare debacle.

I-D-I-O-T.

lamuella   November 9th, 2009 12:26 pm ET

at this point, Palin isn't interested in politics at all. She's trying to make money from her brief brush with fame, and we're all helping her do it. She'll pop up every few weeks and say something to appeal to the tea party base, so that they buy her ghostwritten book, or pay for her to come talk at their function. She's a nobody, of no importance other than her fame. CNN, do us all a favor and ignore this bloody woman. If I cared for one second what she wrote on her Facebook page, I'd go to her facebook page. Or hit myself in the temples with a framing hammer, as it would have a similar stupefying effect

DianeR PCFL   November 9th, 2009 12:26 pm ET

A United States Death Panel already exists. It is called the Association of Health Insurance Providers (AHIP). Under the protection of their anti-trust exemption, they are free to establish monpolistic insurance rates, impose recission on their consumers at will and refuse insurance to anyone they determine would lower their profit margin. Their actions are known to kill at least 18,000 Americans a year. Based on her words and opposition to healthcare reform (the House version removed insurance company antitrust exemption), Ie would say that Sarah Palin, the Alaskan Brood Sow, supports the existing US Death Panel.

Palin refered to a death panel.

Earth to Sarah: Death panels are real, and they exist! The current system actively slaughters it's members, and they profit from it. We need to get rid of ANY business that makes a profit by sentencing people to death. Finding reasons to murder people is a sin!

And for those who do not think affordable health care is a right? Guess what, that's why it's in congress. Because it WILL be when we are done. Chew on that!

old timer   November 9th, 2009 12:15 pm ET

Sahara Palin is right on with this death panel. This health care overhaul is nothing but troble to Americans. It is time to vote out all these people who back this program.
The leaders of ARRP must go also. If the people who believe that the health care program in its present form is what they want, they will have a rude awakening when they get older and must let some one in the governement decide what is best for them.
Obama has broken this country and it is time for the people to stand up and be counted,,,,,, We must stop this health care bill as it is wrIitten now. I agree changes are in order but this bill in its entirity is very bad for every one who lives in America
DONT LET THE GOVERNENT MAKE THESE KIND OF DESICIONS FOR YOU

How are her supposed 'death panels' any different than the CEO's of current private insurance companies deciding RIGHT NOW if people they cover will be allowed .. yes that's 'ALLOWED' to have the treatments they need, cancer treatments or transplants.. I"m talking children here too not just the elderly who are CONSTANTLY denied care by today's private health care system based on age.. so please Sarah tell us.. how is today's health care death panels any different, other than today's are based on how much the 'care' will cut into the insurance companies profits?? The amount of misinformation and ignorance in this issue is astounding!

Oh come on, tell the American people what the roles are of the elected commissions in ALL the sections "stated in in the health care bill". We don't want one rebuttal, we want the rebuttal for ALL sections mentioned in this passage of 1900+ pages of the healthcare bill and what roles these elected commissions will play. I believe we do understand the terms "and/or", "shall", "may", etc.

I guess it is true that "one does not get something for nothing".

Casey   November 9th, 2009 12:13 pm ET

Wait, so let me get this straight. According to Palin, the possibility (I'm not willing to believe Mrs. Palin without reading it myself) that the bill would mandate that "bureaucratic panels [call] the shots regarding who will receive government health care." is the equivilent of "death panels"? Ignoring the fact that this legislation doesn't create "government health care", but rather creates a government run INSURANCE option, Palin is not claiming that if you're not given government run health care, you're being sentenced to die. That doesn't sound like she has a lot of confidence in private insurance providers. I guess she's a now a proponent of government-funded universal health care. Wow, who whudda thunk it?

Chas in Iowa   November 9th, 2009 12:13 pm ET

Insurers who won't cover an existing condition- while making billions in profits! Those ARE DEATH panels! How many many Americans have died because of them.

This woman is continuing to divide our country as she did last fall during the Presidental Campaign. She is too ignorant to know that we spend a lot of money for our elderly citizens to have the best quality of life possible. I know Medicare paid tens of thousands of dollars for my parents and in-laws health care that we would never be able to afford.
She does not have to worry about health care because she and her family get free health care from the state of Alaska because her husband is of Eskimo heritage. Her son with downs syndrome is entitled to a SSI Check from Social Security because of his disability.
This is a woman that needs to keep her hate and lies in Alaska and take her supporters with her. I will not post another comment in reference to Palin. I feel truly sorry for her chidren because they have to fend for themselves because their mother is crazy.

Fear. That is all I hear coming out of the mouths of Republicans lately. Be afraid. Your government can't be trusted, be very afraid. Yell and scream out your fear, slander and despise your own president, vote us back into office...and then what? You don't have to fear the government anymore because look at how well WE took care of you for the last 8 years?
My mother died of lung cancer 20 years ago. NOT ONE OF HER DOCTORS WANTED TO TELL US SHE WAS DYING. No one counseled her about her options. No one told us we could have had hospice care or a hospital bed for her room at home until her last two weeks of life. She could have been so much more comfortable, so much better informed. She could have had choices. Shut up, Sarah.

maybe sarah palin should stand before a death panal.

Beth   November 9th, 2009 12:06 pm ET

So Sarah, tell me a little about these Death Panels. Who will be serving on them? Will the government be hiring potential applicants for this job? For example will the emloyment notice read " The US Government is now hiring potential applicants for Death Panels. The applicant must have at least 10 years of experience making life or death decisions. Please apply through Monster.com or through your local head hunter.' This is so rediculous. There are no Death Panels Sarah. Just give it up.

B   November 9th, 2009 12:06 pm ET

In our current system (which is not even top 25 in the world) we have death panels, but the people that are on them are not public officers, rather CEOs who get bonuses when people lose coverage and die.

UK doesn't have death panels...MAN I am starting to hate this country because idiots out there will eat up with this IDIOT PALIN is spewing...

CatDem   November 9th, 2009 12:06 pm ET

Come on! Has this woman's 15 minutes not expired already? Nothing she says or does is newsworthy anymore. Leave her on the side of the road where she belongs and move onto more worthy subjects.

C. Farrell, Houston, Tx   November 9th, 2009 12:06 pm ET

Thank you Sarah Palin for your ignorance and inability to read and understand what you are reading, we already know education wasn't and isn't high on your list. Instead of writing a book, Palin needs to read a book. Palin is a liar and uses lies for her own gains because she is too lazy to read and her husband is too lazy to work. She and her husband both are pandering for money after both quit their jobs. What responsible parents would both quit their job when they have young children to support when many Americans have lost their jobs. I wouldn't give she or her husband a dime when I do and will support children and families who are honest hard working people.

RT   November 9th, 2009 12:06 pm ET

Here's a few more words to describe Ms. Palin's inane "death panel" delivery: deceitful, deceiving, deluding, delusive, delusory, demagogic and disingenuous...feel free to add more.

Dennis   November 9th, 2009 12:05 pm ET

Imagine Palin as old as Pelosi for a moment. Now with the added wrinkles and "old lady" good looks does the public take her seriously anymore? She's a flake, with a nice body. Look beyond all that people, especially you women out there! Unless your the most conservative of women, the party of "NO" wants you to go back to being June Cleaver. Wake up America!

Anne E.   November 9th, 2009 12:05 pm ET

This woman is such a cat-toy.

tommygunn   November 9th, 2009 12:05 pm ET

A sound budget takes commitment not QUITTERS and HATERs.

That is one beauty of this country, everyone can express their thoughts.....

Why don't Republicans want Americans to have affordable health care? I just don't understand.

CNN I do believe you have an extremely obsession when it comes to Sara Palin....No wonder you are last when it comes to viewers....People are sick of you covering Sara Palin every movement......

Aunt Bea and Opie   November 9th, 2009 12:03 pm ET

Right now, those life and death decisions are being made by Corporate Fascists, working for the Death Assurance Companies themselves, who are paying Sarah a fortune to be their spokesperson.hahaha

Ken   November 9th, 2009 12:02 pm ET

What a shame that at such an important milestone, the first reaction of the Rabid Radical Republican Right is to go back to trying to frighten Americans with lies and distortions.

It's disgusting.

GaryB   November 9th, 2009 12:01 pm ET

By Palin's reasoning, that means that the insurance company boards that approve or deny procedures or coverage are private, "for profit" death panels. I guess death panels are OK with Palin as long as someone is making a buck.

George Bush - Worst President Ever   November 9th, 2009 12:01 pm ET

And then she threatened to hold her breath and stamp her feet until the bad men made the health care bill go away.

ANGIE   November 9th, 2009 12:00 pm ET

sarah you lying, empty headed moron. go away. go back to school. do something other then spread lies. you are a quitter. you quit for the love of money. you want to fit in with the rest of the lying fear monger repugs. so go somewhere and shut the hell up.

Lori, Houston Texas   November 9th, 2009 12:00 pm ET

Oh, shut up Sarah Citizen. You are not helping anyone by repeating this tripe. Your behavior has shown you are not interested in working together with anyone – even the McCain campaign – to "form a more perfect union". You are not part of the solution but part of the problem.

Begone before someone pours a bucket of water on you!

John from Maynard, MA   November 9th, 2009 11:59 am ET

This woman is unbelievably stupid. We already have death panels and they are called insurance companies. What does she think happens when people are denied treatment by insurance companies and they die.

victim of democrat hypocrisy   November 9th, 2009 11:59 am ET

Maria   November 9th, 2009 11:59 am ET

Sarah: Who do you think makes these decisions now? Wouldn't we rather have a government panel, who is accountable to us, the people, make these decisions than a corporate panel, who is accountable to stockholders, making our life and death decisions? The idea that we have so much choice in health care now has clearly and emphatically been proven wrong. Stop the deception, Sarah. We're not falling for it.

patNY   November 9th, 2009 11:59 am ET

Mike (VA)   November 9th, 2009 11:58 am ET

My hope is that when she appears on Oprah to promote her book, Oprah will ask tough questions and expose he lack of knowledge. The rest of the book tour will be with very sympathetic hosts.

George   November 9th, 2009 11:57 am ET

She should be an expert at death panels. She probably is being paid by death panels to shoot off her big ignorant mouth. Insurance companies ARE the death panels. They have people lying on the streets like worms after a summer rain. Well they get bonuses for denying claims. That money goes into their pockets and into republican legislator's pockets. Kill em all Sarah!!!!!

Steve in CT   November 9th, 2009 11:57 am ET

And people call her dumb. the dumb ones are those who are being snookered by this shell game. Pay attention, people. They're already looking to take from Medicare. Who do you see as the targets. the elderly are already maxed out financially and now this. She's 100% right. If you support this pray you die young.

Judi   November 9th, 2009 11:57 am ET

When Palin can't win with a logical, intelligent debat, she always resorts to LIES! It works! So, who can blame her? Scare the people into their hole again and let the rich reap all the benefits.

jaye   November 9th, 2009 11:57 am ET

Long as the news media gives her a "pass" and dosen't make her prove her lies then she'll keep on saying those horrible lies and spreading her filth.
I suppose when she starts burning crosses at her rallies she'll get a pass on that, too.
Shame on CNN for being so weak.

terry,va   November 9th, 2009 11:56 am ET

It's in the bill. Call it what you want, but end of life discussions/decisions can be determined by someone other than you and your family. She is as right as Joe Wilson was about abortion being covered. Obummie LIES, LIES AND LIES and grandma dies. Plain and simple.

Judi in Los Angeles   November 9th, 2009 11:56 am ET

If you quote a text, such as the quotes coming from the opposition on the health care bill, then a footnote is needed as evidence to validate the quote. That's the way it works. So why do we keep hearing all these quotes with no footnotes?

Because the quotes coming from the opposition are lies! It's that simple. If I'm wrong, then let's see those footnotes!!! At least that way we would know you acturally read the bill, now that we have an official one. Go for it, guys. Back up what you say with proof!!! Respect comes from proving what you say, not by turning up the volume and threating violence.

Death Panel Sarah   November 9th, 2009 11:55 am ET

This proves I really can't read!!

Robert   November 9th, 2009 11:55 am ET

She's a moron and she lost. I'm glad she has no actual power over anyone. The thing that scares me is that there are people out there that actually value things that she says. How could anyone want to be informed by a person that doesnt even know what news papers she reads? Palin, why dont you and all your party of no members go jump off a cliff! She's from the same republican party whose solution to all of our problems is to do NOTHING. Useless! If she is going to lie about something, tell her to stick to lying about why she quit her job. Leave the real issues to the people that know what they are talking about and have actual solutions to try and fix them.

Death Panel Sarah   November 9th, 2009 11:54 am ET

Angie   November 9th, 2009 11:52 am ET

*headdesk*

I blame Sarah Palin for all my headaches. Yeah, some conservatives say some stupid things some times...but most will back off when they've been publicly proved wrong. Sarah Palin clearly isn't one of those conservatives. It's funny and sad at the same time. It makes open and honest discussion of health care reform impossible.

Gordon Ross   November 9th, 2009 11:51 am ET

What is interesting is that Ms. Palin seems to be backing her own death panels.....she supports the Republican backed themes of only making sure those with the money have the insurance they need. Making sure insurance companies continue as they do now. She supports the idea of those that can't afford good health care should die while waiting, which is what is happening now. Maybe she's too busy to notice while instructing her nanny what to do with her baby.
Ms. Palin IS A DEATH PANEL in her own right. She has her health coverage and could care less about the rest of us. Thanks Sarah, always right there when we need ya.....

TM   November 9th, 2009 11:51 am ET

Well we can add LIAR to the list if words to describe Sarah the QUITTER.
Somebody needs to tell her that just because you put it on Facebook DOESN'T make it true.

RAG   November 9th, 2009 11:50 am ET

Who cares what this liar says?

Linda from Minnesota   November 9th, 2009 11:49 am ET

She's as nutty as ever. There will be no death panels. Every hospital should discuss end of life so the patient can make their own decisions. Do you want to go to hospice? Want to try everything? Want to have your pain managed? End of life – everyone should discuss and have it written down (its called an advance directive) so the families can honor a patient's wishes about their care.

PacificView   November 9th, 2009 11:49 am ET

The Death of Credibility Panel has a standing opening for Sarah.

Brook E. Mantia   November 9th, 2009 11:49 am ET

And what does she call the profiteering insuance bureaucrats who have been deciding who lives or dies depending on how much money they can suck out of you RIGHT NOW??? Does she have ANY IDEA AT ALL how many grannies, grandpas, moms & dads, kids, aunts, uncles, cousins & poor folk in general they have ALREADY pulled the plug on? She obviously can't be taken seriously.

Democrat in MD (CNN please post. Thank you!)   November 9th, 2009 11:49 am ET

Why...why...WHY does this woman continue to spread LIES about this bill????If there were "death panels" set up by it, why would the AMA (do no harm...) & the AARP (which speaks for millions of senior citizens...including me) endorse it??????

Robert   November 9th, 2009 11:49 am ET

Who cares what that idiot has to say!

felicia   November 9th, 2009 11:48 am ET

I'm so sick of palin i hope levi spill the beans about whatever he's hiding about her. Because she is just getting beside herself and needs to be brought down a notch or two.

Chris   November 9th, 2009 11:48 am ET

I wonder if Palin has ever read "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". The more we hear her and her Republican colleagues make baseless and blatantly false accusations, the less likely we are to believe them concerning anything. Once we don't trust a thing the Republicans say because simply because they're Republicans, Democrats will be able to exist completely unchecked, and regardless of your political affiliation, that's not a good thing for Democracy.

Mike   November 9th, 2009 11:48 am ET

Spreading ignorance as usual.
GOP operates by whipping up fear and anger, at any cost, by any means, including blatant misinformation.

The sad thing is, it works much of the time.

There are many issues to tackle now, but for the future of our country, we need to shore up education. That's the only way to protect democracy and guard against such manipulative politics.

Sandy   November 9th, 2009 11:48 am ET

Hey Sarahs right on! The goverment is going to dictate what treatments we will have. That enables the goverment to dictate who lives and who dies. Wake up America Tell me what the goverment has run that is effecient and cost effective. Uhg the Post Office Fannie and Freddie Social Security Medicare ect.

Ray   November 9th, 2009 11:48 am ET

Does anyone care what this individual says/thinks? She is entirely irrelevant. Period. There's got to be other news that is more credible as well as more relevant that you could report.......

Ethan   November 9th, 2009 11:48 am ET

Facebook! Hahahahahahaha! Why doesn't she talk to all of America? Why doesn't she have a serious discussion on the issues?

Other than die-hard fundamentalist Christians who have shown that they'd rather stick to a political ideology than behave as a Christian (feed the hungry, heal the sick), WHO WOULD TAKE HER SERIOUSLY? She is a fraud and a bad joke on the American style of democracy and governance.

We need to get back to real governing. Something the Dems do very well and the Neo-confederate conservatives hate.

It is long long long overdue that we return to a serious, hard look at issues that effect everyone, and not just hot-button pet causes of the most extreme-right (which equates to about 20% of the American people).

Linda from Minnesota   November 9th, 2009 11:47 am ET

She's as nutty as ever. There will be no death panels.

NVa Native   November 9th, 2009 11:47 am ET

When she attacks our President with lies and deceptions, and then some one counters her slander with truth, then she always claims to be the "victim". What a disgrace she is to the millions of women who strive every day to treated fairly and equitably while dealing with sexism in the work place.
She can't handle her elected position and quits, then blames it on some one else.
She is a disgrace to all hard working Americans.

The only people who talk about "fearing" Palin are the ones (tea-baggers) who adore her.

S.B. Stein E.B. NJ   November 9th, 2009 11:47 am ET

Palin is showing that she is an unthinking ideologue. Has she stated that she read the bill (any part)? I would like her to state where she found this because otherwise, she is just a plain non-thinker speaking for the GOP. That only makes the party look more foolish.

Kim   November 9th, 2009 11:47 am ET

Why won't this woman go away!!!!!!! Alaska is not far enough, she needs her own planet! How can she critique the Health Care Bill, when she doesn't even know the three branches of our government, and their roles!!!!!! She is truly a disgrace to humans! Sarah Palin, the missing link!!!!

Tom in FL   November 9th, 2009 11:45 am ET

So any attempt to regulate utilization in health care constitutes a "death panel"? Utilization review is already widely done by insurance companies, hospitals, and other health care institutions. Republicans call it "managed care" and skim money off the top to do it, but when Democrats try to do it for free they're running "death panels". What planet is this silly woman and her supporters living on?

Nathan   November 9th, 2009 11:45 am ET

So whats the difference between gov't officials deciding who to cover or not to cover and the health care industry corporations, which are (as far as i know) NOTORIOUS for cutting care for people with pre existing conditons and in many cases not even giving people the full coverage they pay for?!?!

When will this Palin lady fall away back into the Alaskan woods?

I mean just hawk your book and get out of politics!

Don't you have a teen single mom to watch out for?

jeff jackson, alabama   November 9th, 2009 11:43 am ET

She did not lie about the reason for the board. She
was only wrong in calling the board a panel.
Now let's see who really lies. Obama said there
would be no mandates on small businesses
concerning the government health care plan.
Read the plan and you'll see who lies.
Just put your opinions aside for a time and
actually read the darn health plan before you pass
judgement on people.

Dale   November 9th, 2009 11:43 am ET

She's absolutely correct.

a party will pay if this bill is successful. WHy not leave it up to the people of America?

Why not place it on the 2010 mid-terms and let the people vote on it. I don't know about anyone else but I'm sick of the politicians voting behind closed doors on anything that effects us people. We should have more say.

They are making all of our calls and taking our powers. Put "Same sex marriage" and "Health Care" on the mid-term ballots and let the people decide.

reinstate the fairness doctrine   November 9th, 2009 11:43 am ET

Mike Dallas   November 9th, 2009 11:41 am ET

Saint Sarah of the Silly claims to have a direct line straight to God, and is doing "God's will" which apparently includes lying about health reform.

If she represents "christians", will one of you page, email, tweet, post to God's facebook wall or whatever method you use to communicate with God, and get that whole "rapture" scene scheduled?

Once all you "christians" are gone, we heathens can deal with the four Horseman, the plagues and floods, all would be a reprieve from having to deal with you freaks!

dham in Michigan   November 9th, 2009 11:41 am ET

doesn't anyone remember a couple of years ago when insurance companies were throwing new mothers out of the hospital 24 hours after giving birth

Congress had to pass a law to allow new mothers 48 hours of hospital care. (in those bad bad European counties new mothers can stay in the hospital up to 3 days)

Why do nuts like Palin think insurance companies are so great -

Why does the GOP think the profit motive is the secret to good health care? Maybe because making money off of sick people is morally repugnant? Republicans make money from death (war) and disease. go GOP!

tjaman   November 9th, 2009 11:37 am ET

Aviate   November 9th, 2009 11:37 am ET

We already have death panels, Sarah. They're called insurance companies. Evidently your expertise on health care is as deep and extensive as your mastery of foreign policy. Can you see a hospital from your house, too?

Palin should really go back to preparing for her hard-hitting, no-holds barred interviews with Hannity, Levin, and O'Reilly.

Tom Kociemba   November 9th, 2009 11:37 am ET

The only Death Panels that exist are the ones by, of and for the private health insurance companies. Because people cannot get health insurance 44,000 died last year. How many 9/11's is that per year Sarah? What do you think we are stupid or uninformed? You are an insult to thinking people.

yuri   November 9th, 2009 11:36 am ET

We respect freedom of speech and expression, but Palin's puerile and perfidious parades and performances, typically fit the category of hell-raising demogoguery. Beck and Backmann boldly back these kinds of hogwash, with renewed belligerence, in order to spew venom, and vitriol.

As for the Dems, we, for one, seem uncomfortable w/ the penalty of 250000 USD and 5-yr. jail sentence, for refusing to insure. That seems pretty stiff, and it will be nice if they can do something else.

chuck   November 9th, 2009 11:36 am ET

When will we stop being concerned about what Sara Palin says? She was 2nd fiddle on the bad end of a doomed ticket for President in 2009. This woman is a quitter! Why is she still considered news? If there are still people out there that care about what this woman says, I will make sure to pray for the renewing of their right wing minds. Here's a suggestion, Republican's pick a real candidate already!

Jack Adams   November 9th, 2009 11:34 am ET

As her book is getting released, she needs to stay in the news with more such words. While first amendment is a boon, sometimes it is a curse that we have folks like Palin abusing it for their own selfish needs.
Does she have a alternative solution for the healthcare issues that we are facing.. No... But she sure can call names!!
Can CNN stop providing her the publicity that she so deperately seeks?

nadine   November 9th, 2009 11:34 am ET

Palin quit on the people in Alaska just to type of facebook attacking healthcare. She doesn't have America best interest, only when it's loading her pocket with $$$$'s!

beth   November 9th, 2009 11:33 am ET

Poor, poor Sarah. Maybe she shouldn't have quit her job and she would still have her government health care. This loser understands NOTHING about the proposed health care plan and she should just shut up. I

dotty   November 9th, 2009 11:33 am ET

Why are you wasting space and time on Palin's every comment? Why is what this absentee mother, wannabe "star" even listened to? C'mon, give us a break from Sarah's mouth!

Susan in NC   November 9th, 2009 11:33 am ET

Silly, silly Sarah - "death panels" are nothing new - we have them now - they're called insurance companies!

Carl   November 9th, 2009 11:33 am ET

Palinites love Palinisms and she is full of them. You go girl. Palin/Limbaugh 2012!!

Sam Sixpack   November 9th, 2009 11:32 am ET

If you just check out Peter Orszag's July 17, 2009 letter to Nancy Pelosi about the "Independent Medicare Advisory Council," you'll see Palin is telling the truth. What is stunning is that so many supposed "news" outlets choose to be part of the cover up.

Miguel   November 9th, 2009 11:32 am ET

Oh God! Here we are again with this "death panel" nonsense! That is just one reason why Sarah Palin will NEVER, EVER, EVER be President! She is just too stupid! Anyone who believes this death panel bull is either lying to the public or just too stupid to now the difference. No one in their right mind would ever allow seniors to be subjected to death panels. Yes, we should treat seniors much better than we already do, but as someone who lost their father to Parkinson's Disease, I am offended by Ms. Palin's ridiculous remarks. I'm waiting for her 15 minutes of fame to be over!

ross berg-buffalo ny   November 9th, 2009 11:32 am ET

As a former Palin supporter I must say that she continues to be on her own self-destructing campaign. The bill the House approved has nothing close in it to what she's claiming!! The fact that Medicare will now be in a position to pay a Doctor for a consultation session whereas before it couldn't is good news for seniors who in many cases will want this advice!!

Palins statements are nothing short of shameful political self-serving attention getters! She should be ashamed!!

Holly H   November 9th, 2009 11:32 am ET

I wish Palin would just shut up and go away already. It was bad enough when she was campaigning for VP. Seriously. she couldn't even finish her responsiblities as governor. Yet she preaches to everyone about its supposed to be done. Can anyone say quitter, go back to Alaska...fast.

Andrew Halloran   November 9th, 2009 11:32 am ET

Why in the world does this person still matter? Republicans, if you are ever to recover and have a "big tent" again, you need to distance yourself from this albatross and stop being the party of the ignorant and the paranoid.

Laurie   November 9th, 2009 11:32 am ET

For God's sake shut up you fool!

gwen   November 9th, 2009 11:31 am ET

Who cares what this stupid woman thinks – she has proven time and again she doesn't know the facts, doesn't care to learn the facts and just spouts out lies to her crazy tea bagger base who don't care about facts either. The provision in the original bill to help people facing end of life decisions by being able to make appointments with their doctors to discuss this and have it paid for by medicare was a wonderful addition to help patients and their families deal with a hard time in a dignified, united manner, most doctors and AARP back this!!
sarah palin and the republicans should be ashamed of their lies and how they hurt americans!!

Please stopr censoring...thx S Callahan   November 9th, 2009 11:31 am ET

Sarah you confuse me so much...you put yourself in a panic over national healthcare....where is you faith in ACTION? God is bigger than this...please stop trying to incite fear..that is far far from the true God of all Gods. You should be encouraging your followers to pray..isn't that what is commanded of us. Stop this...you are misleading people.

Steve   November 9th, 2009 11:31 am ET

As long as there are not "Stupidity Panels", Sarah has nothing to fear.

Joe   November 9th, 2009 11:31 am ET

Please stop giving this silly twit free publicity. Nothing she says or thinks is newsworthy. This is an important topic that deserves debate on the facts, not the pronouncements of a narcissistic sociopath.

PEC   November 9th, 2009 11:30 am ET

She didn't have to. If CNN would stop being lazy she has already backed up where her claim is from. Oh CNN isn't talking about the Facebook that they were called out on for bad journalism. Can't accuse somebody of anything until you confess your own mistakes.

joc,alabama   November 9th, 2009 11:30 am ET

Sounds like she can't comprehend

not alone   November 9th, 2009 11:29 am ET

Hey chick!! health care corperations already have DEATH PANELS give it a freakin rest will you and get you facts streight some folks accually believe what you say./ponder

Brandon   November 9th, 2009 11:29 am ET

I wish someone would find a death panel for you Sarah.

CBR   November 9th, 2009 11:29 am ET

It amazes me that Sarah Palin is so open and free with her comments but she does not have a contact site so that citizens can write her.

A government panel is not a death panel. Right now insurance companies have people who decide what insurance will or will not cover. Many cannot even go for to a specialist without prior permission from their health insurer.

It would be so nice if the facts were not twisted to match someones' ideology. A principle is a basic truth and implies integrity. If these are Sarah's principles I would like to have a sit down and discuss them with her. Denying others what you have given to you is not a principle.

Obinna   November 9th, 2009 11:29 am ET

This Quitter should crawl back to the hole than making unnecessary comments. Does she think she has a chance in 2012? I think her chances to unseating Obama is .99999999999999%. Quitters are losers of course. As far as I am concerned she is a losser!

Kurt from Canada   November 9th, 2009 11:29 am ET

Absolutely shameless.

Canada has universal health care. We live longer than Americans. So do most Western European countries that have some form of significant public health care.

You would be well advised to accept our, "death pannels" since they appear to give us a few more years on this planet than your current free market system.

frisky   November 9th, 2009 11:28 am ET

Keep talking Sarah so everyone can see for themselves what a loon you are. Keep talking!

Chris   November 9th, 2009 11:28 am ET

Keep the brain-washing up Palin and the sheep will listen unfortunately I guess. It is sad that even though the insurance companies act as the death panels, forcing doctors to choose not to help when a patient can't afford operations and such. I feel terrible that our system supports this sort of evil, but if healthcare reform is not given as a result of this, then there truly is no hope for our union. It would be a win for greed, and the death paneling of insurance companies will continue. Sarah is no Christian; Jesus never defended greed, he healed the sick, not denied them care. The AMA and AARP endorsed the House bill, so let's see what happens in the Senate; I have my fingers crossed on it passing.

W Spivey   November 9th, 2009 11:28 am ET

This women needs to return to her former profession of prostitution, for she is certainly giving it to the world.

ps   November 9th, 2009 11:26 am ET

Hey Sarah, panels for profit health insurance companies decide what care is given and what isn't all the time – give me a non-profit panel any day.Go back to protecting the country in Alaska by keeping your eye on Russia.

Scott   November 9th, 2009 11:26 am ET

The actual issue is who decides who gets care and who doesn't. At present, the insurance companies make this decision, and if the health care bill passes similar decisions will have to be made, but this time by government workers for those using the public option.

So the question really comes down to who do you trust with your care? With whom do you have the greatest recourse if you do not agree with the decision? Cigna? Blue Cross? or the government.

The problem is that there simply isn't enough money to keep everyone alive forever, so decisions are made. They are being made now, and will have to be made under whatever system we choose. So who would you choose to make those decisions? Over whom do we the people have the most sway?

Charlotte   November 9th, 2009 11:25 am ET

That wack job, for all her fake pretense to being Christian, sure doesn't pay much attention to the Ten Commandments. Isn't there something in there about not bearing false witness.....in other words quit being a liar. The woman is evil just by being so self-centered and stupid, and not caring what heinous crimes she is committing against the needy through her pandering to the cruelest and most selfish of Americans.

Justin   November 9th, 2009 11:25 am ET

By Palin's standards, we already live in a world of death panels. They wear suits, stand between us and our doctors, can say "NO" to our treatments, and ultimately can condemn the sick to death. They work for the health insurance companies.

Ed in Reno,Nevada   November 9th, 2009 11:25 am ET

Does this woman know the meaning of the words shut up?

Fair is Fair   November 9th, 2009 11:24 am ET

As predicted, a Palin story to distract from the fact that the HCR bill passed by the house is DOA in the senate.

Right on cue.

Josh   November 9th, 2009 11:23 am ET

Can we please stop talking about her? Since when is the villiage idiot so note worthy? Send her a dunce cap (call it a Maverick Hat so she'll participate) and a two legged chair, put her in a circular room and ask her to sit in the corner and we'll never hear from her again.

Big-K (DC)   November 9th, 2009 11:23 am ET

I believe Paulin if given the opportunity could not comprehend the health care bill even if it was explain to her.If she didn't have a left wingnut writing her blogs for her. She would be talking loud and saying nothing like she always do when they allow her speak on her own.

henry   November 9th, 2009 11:22 am ET

Oh shut up you clown. And to think she would be our VP. Good representative of the GOP.

Ken   November 9th, 2009 11:21 am ET

Why CNN and other news organizations continue to give this woman publicity must be for the revenue she generates for you. She's obviously demented.

Brian   November 9th, 2009 11:21 am ET

Why is it bad that we want to provide people with free counseling when they're sick? Many people come to grips with reality while lying on their death bed and they just want to talk to someone about the impact their death will have on their family, both emotionally and financially. I think providing this service for the sick is critical.

SH in TX   November 9th, 2009 11:21 am ET

Insurance companies have "Death Panels" now. They decide who lives or dies by refusing to insure people who are sick and need healthcare the most, or cancelling policies of people who put in a claim. They also classify many life saving procedures and medicines as "experimental" so they can refuse to cover them.

Palin needs to shut up and go back to Alaska. She has no idea what she's talking about.

Joan, NY   November 9th, 2009 11:21 am ET

Pailin is such a dope. Even Lady Ga Ga carries more political weight.

CommonSense09   November 9th, 2009 11:20 am ET

Palin is basically out for money, money and more money! Acting like a true republican; out for her self only and will say anything for attention! Wow and just think she could have been the vice president, which could have been the "Death Panel for the Country"....

Sue, Vienna, VA   November 9th, 2009 11:19 am ET

What doesn't this woman understand?! Her remarks regarding "death panels" has been discredited over and over again by a plethora of knowledgeable people. And does she really believe that AARP and the AMA would back such an act! She really is a frightening individual.

Mark in AZ   November 9th, 2009 11:19 am ET

"non-partisan factcheck.org" ???? Gimme a break.

factcheck.org is an arm of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, funded by the Annenberg Foundation. Annenberg funded the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Who headed that up? Why, Barack Obama and Bill Ayers!! Wow, it's such a shock that factcheck.org would then claim that Palin's "death panel" charge is inaccurate. /sarc

It's a good thing the Senate committee made a big deal of removing these "nonexistent" death panels from their version of the legislation.

Tom in CA   November 9th, 2009 11:18 am ET

Does anyone really care what the Alaska Air Head says?

... no-critical thinkers ....

Big John   November 9th, 2009 11:18 am ET

Sarah and her vile comments urging votes against health care are the "death panels". The republicans just don't want the uninsured to have health care. Many who need it and can't afford it are unemployed and /or homeless and the republicans don't care about these people.
The democratic party cares about all of the citizensand just wants those who don't have health care to be able to get it. Go crawl back under whatever rock you came from Sarah and stop spewing hate.

robert diogenes   November 9th, 2009 11:17 am ET

GET THE FACTS BEHIND THE NEWS! Does Ms Palin consider Medicare ruled by death panels? Would she like to see Medicare discontinued? Should seniors buy their own insurance ? Talk to a few seniors and get their opinion> She maybe surprised. Her comments are absurd.

Its too bad the Republican people have become shills for the insurance industry. The insurance people have had many years to provide low cost full coverage insurance policies but have never done so. If they had perhaps the house bill would not have been necessary.

Terry from West Texas   November 9th, 2009 11:17 am ET

It is difficult to decide whether Sarah Palin is lying or not. Obviously, the whole "death panel" nonsense is not true. Everyone who can read knows that.

What is difficult is to decide whether Palin knows she is repeating an untruth. Lying must be intentional. If someone asks me to name the capital of New Mexico and I reply "Albuquerque" because I really think that is the capital (it is Santa Fe), then I am not lying. I am mistakenly stating what I really believe to be the truth.

In Palin's case, I am not at all sure of her mental stability. She might actually believe that anything she says is actually true. She seems very confused about what is real and what is not.

When a crazy person tells you that the devil is talking to him, he's not lying because he really believes the devil is talking to him.

Willa-PA   November 9th, 2009 11:17 am ET

Shut up Sarah!

Mark in Atlanta   November 9th, 2009 11:16 am ET

Death panels are not a figment of Palin's imagination. They are real. You can find them in the back offices of every "for profit" insurance company, dilligently trying to figure out how to deny coverage to anyone whose health needs might be too costly for their bottom line. As for the panels actually mentioned in the bill, they are troubling, but not for the reason Palin sugest. As anyone who has read the bill knows, their purpose is to figure out who is eligible for the gevernment program. Thye have nothing to do with making decisions about treatments. Thye are troubling because, far from forcing everyone into the public program, the bill placs tight limits on who will be allowed to select it if they want it.

Sheri   November 9th, 2009 11:16 am ET

Why is she still on this "death panel" "bureaucratic panels"? First off it's in the bill because of the Republicans, secondly she backed the same thing in Alaska? For the Sarah cheerleaders who will naturally post We are afraid of her" no, it's when somebody is hypocrite and lying, it needs to be called out!

Randolph Carter, I'm no expert but...   November 9th, 2009 11:16 am ET

Because insurance companies would never do anything like that. You Betcha! Funny, Sarah, you supported end of life counseling when you were governor, even declared a special day for end of life counseling awareness in Alaska. Why the change of heart? Have a nice day!

Wes B.   November 9th, 2009 11:16 am ET

Dear Sarah:

Please stop with the lies. You are just making yourself look (more) foolish.

Sincerely,

Casey   November 9th, 2009 11:16 am ET

Maybe it is time for reputable New organisation to stop reporting on the lunatic and advise her to go see a Psychiatric doctor... but I doubt it because the media is a sick as Palin is.

Blutarski   November 9th, 2009 11:15 am ET

The health care bill also does not "provide 36 million people with health insurance". It only mandates that you or your employer purchase it. It is not a gift from the government, it is an unfunded mandate. Granted, there are some provisions for unemployed persons, who can not afford insurance, but it is not anything close to 36 million. States that make it illegal not to have auto insurance have not provided auto insurance to millions of drivers have they?

Joanne ont canada   November 9th, 2009 11:15 am ET

Palin's a nut case w/ no brains! She is in my opinion the least intelligent human on this earth!!! Nothin but irrational psycho babble spews from her mouth! Deeply distressful this woman is!!!!!!!!

Fan   November 9th, 2009 11:14 am ET

Sarah is a disgrace to this country. She should keep her mouth shut and concentrate on dividing the GOP party.

Doorguy   November 9th, 2009 11:14 am ET

I take it that Mz Palin has NEVER had to deak with Health Care Insurance. Talk about your "death panels". Maybe my father would be alive today id the US had health care like they do in Europe and Canada. Why does OUR country have to be the ONLY for profit health insurance country in the world? I bet if Mz Palin would have the health care that my father had, shed be more open to goverment sponsered health insurance. But she doesnt have to worry about that, WE tax payers pay for her health care

Mike   November 9th, 2009 11:14 am ET

Paraphrasing the movie, Blackdraft: Sarah, that light in the corner of your eye, that's your career dissipationlight, and it just went into overdrive.

Ms. Palin's 15 minutes of fame is quickly wearing out. She spent what little political capital she had trying to get northern NY to elect a candidate that knew nothing of the district just to get a conservative elected is now grasping at old straws. She knew she got some free publicity by lying about the death panels and hopes to have it happen again.

I am glad that they provision she hates is in the bill. I have experienced the consultation she hates with my own mother. No doctor told us what to do, just laid out the prognosis and the options..we dedcided. There is nothing wrong with allowing the doctors to get paid for these meetings.

Sarah, it's time for you to hang it up. Make your money as a partisan hack on a book tour but leave the facebooking to the professionals.

ghostwriter   November 9th, 2009 11:13 am ET

How about forming an exile panel. I would recommend exile for Ms.Palin , perhaps to the sunny Priblof islands

John K   November 9th, 2009 11:10 am ET

If she isn't careful, Ms. Palin could give beauty contestants a bad name. And, did we ever get an answer as to which newspapers reads?
Just like O'Reilly, it is just amazing how someone who says something untrue, the facts prove it to be so, and then instead of shutting up, they go repeating it. And worse, these folks have followers! Like the line in the movie Life Of Brian, where one asks another "Are you sure he's the Messiah ?" To which the reply was "Oh I'm sure, and I should know, I've followed a few!"

chelle   November 9th, 2009 11:10 am ET

Now if she would only return to Alaska....don't the people of the USA deserve better than these partisan lies and distortions – from both sides of the House?

southerncousin   November 9th, 2009 11:09 am ET

She is right. All of the liberals lied. First they said it did not exist. Then they took out the language, then they put it back in. Liberals all lie. Obama one and done,

Patrick   November 9th, 2009 11:09 am ET

Geez, really guys? Is it so hard to understand? If you read the statement from Palin herself–"mandating bureaucratic panels that will be calling the shots regarding who will receive government health care"– clearly defining her intended use of the term, it should be so obvious to you that the FactCheck you cite addresses a completely different argument. Repeating it over and over doesn't make it relevant or valid. Palin used inciteful terms, but to dscribe something she feels is. Many agree, that a government that has that decision making power is unacceptable.

Beverly in NC   November 9th, 2009 11:07 am ET

This wannabe nobody is still trying to pretend to be important. No Republican wants her anywhere near her and Americans have figured out that what comes out of Palin's mouth is primarily stupidity and lies.

Sorry Palin – no one believes in death panels except nuts like you.

Ohio D   November 9th, 2009 11:06 am ET

Bear in mind that I am a democrat... So before you call her an idiot, a liar, whatever; have YOU read the bill yet? Then you don't know. You take some persons word for it (either side) when 99% of them haven't read the whole thing either. I hear the thing is over 1000 pages of complicated and highly interpretable lawyer wording. How fast can you read that? Don't pass judgment until you KNOW otherwise. Then have at it!

jules   November 9th, 2009 11:06 am ET

So, is CNN going to reiterate that the "death panel" claim is false, or just leave this up here as if Palin has any credibility at all and isn't lying through her teeth?

The bill is not perfect...but the death panel thing is a lie, and as journalists you should know it. Why keep giving her coverage?

Bridget   November 9th, 2009 11:05 am ET

Dear Sarah,

Insurance industry = current death panels

Signed, America

Bugl3t   November 9th, 2009 11:05 am ET

There are many instances where programs like medi-cal or cmsp (county level) don't pay for counseling – even if the need is CAUSED by the medical treatment given that they DO pay for, for example, a patient with Hepatitis C who undergoes peg-interferon + ribavarin treatment (essentially chemotherapy) is made dog sick to CURE the virus for which the doctor will proscribe anti-depressants, like prozac or zoloft... that the program WILL pay for... but not a non-medical intervention like counseling.

Take a pill... that way big pharma sells more product.

Palin's an idiot. Since when has she EVER had facts for any of the ridiculous ramblings that fall out of her uneducated, uninformed, and un-Christian mouth?

katie r   November 9th, 2009 11:03 am ET

This woman needs to get educated and stop her scare tactics; these have already been debunked. I have never seen such a narcissistic sore loser and who cares but her followers what she puts on her face book; I don't feel she has full knowledge to write anything let alone speak about it. This again is not for Palin but I am against anything that this administration does or attempts to do. Just another way to keep her face in the press or media.

sandy   November 9th, 2009 11:03 am ET

I routinely post on Sarah Facebook page. Trying to correct the information given there. It is scarey to see some of the stuff her followers write. Down right scarey!

Yeah well, Palin is a twit. Ignore her.

Mark S.   November 9th, 2009 11:02 am ET

Why Sarah, why, why do you lie?

Francois Perreten   November 9th, 2009 11:02 am ET

To put forth such an outrageous notion that the health bill equates to a "death panel" shows that Mrs. Palin underestimates the ability of the American people to see through her tactics of trying to instill fear into ordinary citizens to advance her own political agenda!

Mrs Palin should realize by now that the electorate has realized that her grasp of issues is quite virtually non-existent. This is the same woman who has critized the press to no end and now has agreed to speak at the upcoming Press dinner which coincides with the relase of her book.

Sarah has but one agenda! Her own!!

Felly   November 9th, 2009 11:02 am ET

Oh, like those bureaucrats. Got it.

It barely passed the house. It will not get passed in the Senate.

We need reform, but this is not it. This will kill the insurance industry, put millions out of work, and possibly bankrupt our country.

Tram   November 9th, 2009 11:01 am ET

Death panels have existed for years. They're called "insurance companies." They take your money, charge you an outrageous amount and then actively look for ways to NOT pay a claim. How many people have suffered because the insurance company wouldn't pay for surgery even though the individual had bought medical insurance? How many times has someone died because the insurance company wouldn't pay for extended care even though the individual had paid his premiums?

Insurance companies ARE death panels. Palin really doesn't have a clue.

victim of republican greed   November 9th, 2009 11:00 am ET

There are three factions fighting for the leadership in the GOP; the right wingnuts (made up of Palin, Armey, DeMint, Bachmann, Inhoufe, Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity etc), the lugnuts (made up of Mc Cain, Pence, Boehner, Cantor, etc) and the nimrods (made up of Bush, Cheney, Rove, etc).

None of the options looks very good, though.

Mike in LR   November 9th, 2009 10:56 am ET

Of course they're death panels. Counseling sessions is not what Palin referred to. It will be the judgement of a government panel as to what care you will get. Statistically speaking whether you're worth the cost of a procedure or medication. This is death by statistic and it is most surely part of Pelosi's plan. I understand it's not politically correct to say so but that doesn't change the facts. Anyone senator for this plan is a loon and will be turned out in 2010.

Bill   November 9th, 2009 10:56 am ET

wow this woman is a nut case. I just don't understand why people still think that she is the savior of the GOP. If I was a republican, I would be embarrased that she is representing the party. I mean seriously look at her track record.

Bridge to no where...
Trooper gate....
Going Rouge (such a joke).....
Quit as the Gov. so she could hit the book circuit to cash in...
Insane comments like this.....

Seriously why is this person still around?? Can anyone please explain to me why people are so enchanted by her?

jane   November 9th, 2009 10:56 am ET

when are you going to stop reporting the worthless things this woman says - i suppose when the rest of us stop being entertained by them. whatever happened to bonafide news?

Michael M, Phoenix AZ   November 9th, 2009 10:56 am ET

So, instead of complaining about the provisions, then why doesn't she and the other Republican's and those against the bill PUSH FOR making sure the people who wrote the bill and voted for it amend it to include all government employees, including the Congress, to have the same thing we get! Simple solution isn't it?

Bertina   November 9th, 2009 10:55 am ET

Palin is so stupid she doesn't realize she signed for death panels while she was governor.

Al-NY,NY   November 9th, 2009 10:55 am ET

Since Fido has nothing better to do, she needs to keep her face in the news on a regular basis. Even some of her own (GOPers) have refuted this idiotic rant.

jim   November 9th, 2009 10:54 am ET

everyone KNOWS there are no death panels. yet she continues to claim there are. this person will never get my vote for any public office. she is a disgrace to humanity.

once again, i ask, when will the republicans try to be part of the solution instead of being part of the problem.

andy   November 9th, 2009 10:53 am ET

In her recent Facebook post, Palin didn't offer further evidence of the establishment of death panels. The non-partisan FactCheck.org has refuted her argument.

____

Shocking. Something Palin says that turns out to have no evidence to support it? Should we be surprised?

stuart   November 9th, 2009 10:52 am ET

Shes an idiot...she is probably cheating on her husband.

Tania   November 9th, 2009 10:52 am ET

"But look closely at the provision mandating bureaucratic panels that will be calling the shots regarding who will receive government health care."

Is there anyone on this green earth who believes that Palin actually wrote this herself? Does she know what each of these words means? Is this her sentence structure?

Joshua College Station Texas   November 9th, 2009 10:52 am ET

Fear tactics.

Anything to get health care reform to fail!

For Republicans, it's not about health care, it's about political control. They just want to "break" the president. All their talking points are tactics, and they are NOT TRUE!

haren   November 9th, 2009 10:51 am ET

CNN now we are sick and tired of writing in this tickers to oppose this stupid lady.

Maryann Rose   November 9th, 2009 10:51 am ET

For Pete's Sake, Sarah!!

Here is your death panel:

Republicans deciding that 14,000 Americans per month can die for lack of health insurance.

Yomittnv   November 9th, 2009 10:50 am ET

Lies and deceit aren't very Christian, Sarah

debbie   November 9th, 2009 10:50 am ET

CNN why are giving t his PRIVATE citizen headlines? I realize that idiots are always interesting but this one has long since worn out her novelty.

andrew s. rostolder   November 9th, 2009 10:50 am ET

this woman should be put in the rubber room with the book she didn't write.....

Danny   November 9th, 2009 10:50 am ET

Psychos. Nothing but psychos.

To put it in terms you can understand (yah you in the Bible belt and Christian districts who keep voting these idiots into office because of their "faith" and "family values"), the GOP is the "anti-Christ". They don't care about you. Just their power. You think Sarah cares whether or not there are death panels?!? She will have health care and treatment options regardless of what happens in the US. If she cared so much for her people, who did she abandon the governorship of Alaska?!? Because she's tired of politics as usual? Please. She is the epitemy of politics as usual. Pathetic.

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   November 9th, 2009 10:48 am ET

She's such an idiot. We already have death panels in America Sarah. They're called the insurance companies. When an insurance compnay denies you for a pre-existing condition, what the hell do you call that? Someone put a sock in this baffoon's mouth.

Kathy   November 9th, 2009 10:47 am ET

The truth is not something Sara Palin is familiar with.

PALIN 2012 !!   November 9th, 2009 10:46 am ET

Obama is just not in synch with this country. America needs another change – but this time, one the country can live with.

Boyd Phillips   November 9th, 2009 10:45 am ET

She is such a stupid idiot!
