Palin's upcoming book tour will take her to Iowa, the early proving ground for presidential hopefuls.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin's heading to Iowa.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee's upcoming book tour will taker her to Sioux City, Iowa, on Sunday December 6, according to an announcement posted on the Barnes and Noble Web site.

Palin will kick off the tour in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 18, one day after her book, "Going Rogue: An American Life," is released.

Iowa's caucuses traditionally kick off the presidential primary season and any appearance in the Hawkeye State by a Republican who may be considering a run for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination sparks speculation.

Sioux City is in the heart of the conservative northwest part of Iowa.

Palin isn't the only possible Republican White House hopeful making an appearance in Iowa. Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and 2008 Republican presidential candidate, visited three bookstores in eastern and central Iowa on Sunday to sign copies of his new holiday themed book. And Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty was in the state Saturday to give the keynote address at a major Iowa Republican party dinner.

She should listen to the people that sell the books and follow their path but then she is a Maverick. I hope she will stop in Minnesota and pick up Michelle Bachmann so they can both go and jump off the same cliff together.

Kevin in Ohio   November 10th, 2009 10:43 am ET

It is simply amazing that CNN follows this woman's every move. The ONLY possible reason for a lead article every single day is to satisfy the fix for hatemongering left wing radicals who hate her.

Sarah Palin has an extremely high opinion of herself. Tooo bad her cerebral flux doesn't equalize with this misguided illusion. Dear Sarah,

When the road got tough, and you alienated BOTH sides of the aisle in Alaska, you bailed (blaming the Dems) and went for the almighty dollar. If, God forbid, you were to be elected, what are you planning to do when the American public finds out how much of a fraud you really are? Are you going to panic and leave us out in the cold?

Regards

Doug   November 10th, 2009 10:18 am ET

Attention Democrats............Here comes Sarah! Don't judge the people that go to see her, rather watch the crowds and energy she creates. She is hazardous to your political health. The Health care bill that just passed the House will cause you great harm in the coming elections, and She will use your votes against you.

Love her or hate her, CNN loves to write about Palin.

Hypocritical, intolerant, and often uninformed liberals hate Palin because they feel threatened that an average American can derail their power-hungry, government controlled, nanny state agenda. Need proof? Read the boneheaded comments.

Mitt Romney in 2012. (Wish we had him this year)

Mariann Pepitone   November 10th, 2009 10:15 am ET

I am glad to hear that Palin will be on tour with her book and I am sure it will be a big seller. Palin is a drawing card and I am sure when she appears on the Oprah show there will be a big crown waiting to see her. She is a very smart woman who has accomplished the goals she set out to get. There is also an abundance of jealousy towards her and it mainly is coming from the younger college students who would like to accomplish the same goals but know that will never be. I would like to see Palin as either president, VP or senator. She is a strong willed individual and the republicans need her.

Mike   November 10th, 2009 10:14 am ET

As a staunch Republican PLEASE stay out of it Palin! The Katie Couric tapes will run non-stop and embarass both you are the Republicans. You were interesting for about three days and that's it..

Mike   November 10th, 2009 10:14 am ET

I pray that Sarah Palin keeps it up and captures the Republican nomination in 2012. That would be the one of the best things that could ever happen to our country. We need to stand together and get back to the conservative principles that the USA was founded on. We are giving the country away – the country we have worked so hard to build is being given to the poor and minorities who only know how to take, take, take. We are being stretched to the breaking point by the Obama policies which take as much as they can from honest, hard-working, faith-based people and give it away. What does that get us? A discontented, lazy rabble instead of a thrifty working class

AmyP   November 10th, 2009 10:13 am ET

I hope Sarah Palin runs in 2010, it would be the ultimate gift to the Democratic Party. All they have to do is sit back and give her as much room to think she's the GOP's "Messiah." The more she thinks she's qualified to be President, the more she'll guarantee an absolute WIN for Democratic Party.

There's something to be said when our elders say... "Giver her enough rope and she'll hang herself." Sarah Palin is all about POWER and GREED. That's the real Sarah Palin, a woman who will say anything and do anything for POWER.

Luke Brown   November 10th, 2009 10:12 am ET

Good for Palin. I am hoping she runs for office of the president. We need someone in power that can run this country and make the right decisions regarding the wars we are fighting. Obama needs to pull the troops out of Iraq and end that war like Nixon ended the Vietnam war. Palin speaks her mind and she is well aware of what is going on in the WH. Michael Steele RNC chairman is in the same category. He also speaks his mind. We need more republicans to win seats in the senate and house becaise no change is being done with the democrats or Obama.

How does she not understand that quitting her job as governor indicates she cannot stand the pressure of running for president? There is no way she could get the nomination, and all she would do during the primaries is distort the truth or outright lie. This is a desperate act by a desperate individual.

David   November 10th, 2009 10:01 am ET

I guess the truth comes out a year later.Seems that media clothes story was all lies. She never went on any shopping sprees, her staffers did though.Palins staff ripped off the price tags on those clothes, because she complained they were too expensive. How come no reporters interviewed her staff but these two, who actually traveled with her? Then theres that story she didnt know Africa was a continent crap the media said.Gee did they fail again?I think so,because they left out these 2 facts with that story. Her parents are school teachers, she invested with her states PDF fund into African countries.Seems when it comes to Palin, the great media love to report with their anonomous sources. Then they fail to point out how ridiculous these false claims really are.

She is a vile, dishonest hypocrite who shields herself with values and religion. Her resume is peppered with dishonesty, she has not finished any job that she begins, and she is generally a poor excuse for a human being. Isn't there better evidence that suggests a build-up to run for President than heading to Iowa ona book tour? Should she have skipped the state instead? Marc Condos   November 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

How is it that you've deemed everything that Palin does to be newsworthy? Are you so ideological that you have to trot her out like a mascot representing conservatives? I'm amazed given the REAL news out there, that you consistently seem to find Sarah's book promotions to be newsworthy.

Her book tour is across small town America cause she knows it is a waste of time to advertise in big cities; welfare recipients don't waste their handout money on books when there are Ipods and video games to be bought!

sean   November 10th, 2009 9:49 am ET

Already heavily discounted to $9 (from $28 retail), it appears Sarah is headed for a big flop. Marketing away from the population centers won't help. With management skills like this, its probably a good thing she isn't in government any more. Republicans: use this woman at your own peril.

Grahame   November 10th, 2009 9:49 am ET

Mike   November 10th, 2009 9:48 am ET

You go girl. I hope I can get your autograph on the copies of your book I am buying.

Fred the Moderate   November 10th, 2009 9:48 am ET

Please run. You give us an even greater chance to beat the daylights out of your party. We won by 11 million votes last time. With you, we will win by at least 22 million, keep the congress and senate and finally influance the S Court.

Only a fringe nut job likes your brand of politics, or so says my Republican friends. They are Rockerfeller Republicans that can't stand you.

I just hope Limbaugh is your running mate. Man won't that be a loser ticket

simp   November 10th, 2009 9:47 am ET

LOL. Why Why Why? are we still talking about this nit wit? Even if this idiot runs for president who in their right mind would vote for her? Palin has not interest in this country, she is a money hungry moron. All you people who keep saying the liberals are afraid of her are truly out of touch. Every single one of us should be afraid very afraid, this nit wit no more capable of being president then mickey mouse, she is a loud mouth quitter.

WHAAA??   November 10th, 2009 9:45 am ET

Lord help the lower 48!

texas conservative   November 10th, 2009 9:45 am ET

Sniffit   November 10th, 2009 9:45 am ET

Sarah Palin used to be as popular as Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, but I think it's funny that she's as hated as Spencer Pratt & Heidi Montag now.

Edna J. Gullatt   November 10th, 2009 9:45 am ET

I am an avid reader, but I will not be reading this book. Sarah Palin is not a rogue. She is an embarrassment to women. This book was not written by her, it was written by a ghost writer. She went to journalism school; she should be able to write her own book. And, no, I am not a liberal, and I am not afraid of Sarah Palin. I am a well-educated woman who knows an unintelligent woman when I see one. I gave her the benefit of the doubt when John McCain picked her, but she showed the country that she was not worthy of becoming vice president of the United States. I have never seen such hate and venom from someone and am ashamed of what she represents. Maybe she will make a great deal of money from her book, but at $4.95 a pop, we will see.

Diane P   November 10th, 2009 9:44 am ET

Everyday!! Come on CNN...you're quickly becoming Fox lite...leave Sarah Palin for Fox & Dick Armey!! Intelligent thinking people don't care about her enough to read about her on a daily basis.

Chris @ Atascadero   November 10th, 2009 9:44 am ET

I'm so thankful that CNN is keeping us all up-to-date about Sarah Palin.

All of us middle-right thinkers and observers, astute citizens and patriots are very excited to have after over twenty years a real model of conservatism on the national and world stage, and we are so thankful to CNN for providing her with a megaphone.

Yes I understand that CNN really doesn't like her, and as often as possible casts her in a negative light, or uses little "ticker" stories like this one to scare democrats, but just look at what Rush Limbaugh did with AM radio. CNN, like AM radio is subject to the free market, whether they like it or not, and seeing how their ratings are lower than MSNBC in many instances, capitalism may have its way with CNN also. Just imagine CNN competing with Fox News' Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hanity and Glen Beck with the "Sarah Palin Hour". I'll be watching.

just saying   November 10th, 2009 9:44 am ET

Dear God. Please help Palin win the 2012 nomination. Thank you in advance. Amen.

TM in CO   November 10th, 2009 9:42 am ET

Why do you keep wasting space on this person? She is one of the reasons that John McCain lost

JC   November 10th, 2009 9:41 am ET

I think EVERYONE sees through Palin's public image now - she QUIT as Governor of Alaska to sell a book and jumpstart her publicity for a potential 2012 run. She said she wanted to spend time with her family and yet she's been off traveling, stumping for sconservatives, doing book promotions, and giving speeches while her newborn son and new grandchild stay home without her. Nice family values. She also wasted no time in setting up her own PAC. So much for being a Maverick - Pacs are the ultimate in old-school Washington politics as usual. What a hypocrite.

ANGIE   November 10th, 2009 9:41 am ET

but then again the repugs do like liars.

ANGIE   November 10th, 2009 9:41 am ET

oh please!. i can't believe the repugs still think this idiot is news and possible candidate for president. I wouldn't vote for her for dog catcher.

MaryJo Bruce Surprise, Ariz   November 10th, 2009 9:39 am ET

Go Sarah, If everyone wasn't so threathened with her things would calm down. People, get on with your life, look for a job, take care of your own. Read, read, read all that you can on both sides. Don't get carried away with someone whos a great orator, you think is hansome, etc. Read, go by records. Use your mind for once, check things out. your on the internet anyway. Look stuff up, make good decisions. Dont follow everyone else thats talking loud and saying nothing. Read!!!!

Kate   November 10th, 2009 9:38 am ET

Writing a Book and going on Book Tours is the NEW MANDATE FOR REPUBLICAN CANIDATES........they think this must be mandatory for being President........if you sell books you are quailified in the Economy, Health Care, Foreign Policies.......Palin can sell all the books she wants but this doesn't make up for the QUITTING her State of Alaska, her inept interviews, still trying to Scare the people of this Country with her Death Panels, the more the media keeps her in the News the more the GOP loses credibility........

Michael   November 10th, 2009 9:38 am ET

I can't believe anyone would go to see or hear her. She just isn't bright enough to hold political office. She couldn't even complete a term as Governor of Alaska. Why are we wasting time with her?

mario mtl ca   November 10th, 2009 9:37 am ET

Who pay for that

Bob Pacific Grove, Ca   November 10th, 2009 9:36 am ET

The loser and quitter going "rogue" in the most conservative part of Iowa......Gee, she's really making a difference, isn't she?.........

Dave Wasserman   November 10th, 2009 9:36 am ET

If the press did not give the " Mouth that roared" any space maybe she would fade into the wood work. I am tired od seeing her face and reading about her.

It is time to rememberjust what got us into the mess that we are in. The Republicans constantly spending and dishonest attitude that she represents have all but put the US in a pot.

bob in LA   November 10th, 2009 9:36 am ET

Stop giving this woman publicity! She is not news. Other people have written books but they dont get this coverage.
Polls sow 3 in 10 poepel think she is under qualified to be president, so she is surely no threat for that job.
Palin is old news.

Mike   November 10th, 2009 9:36 am ET

Please I'm begging CNN, on my hands and knees to stop the coverage of this FLAKE! As long as she stays out of Ohio, I suppose she can travel to looserville.

larrywi   November 10th, 2009 9:35 am ET

For someone who isn't supposed to be a person of interest, she sure generates a lot of interest! Personnaly, I don't see her making a run for the WH, not as President anyway, there will simply be better qualifyed candidates. Wait a minute, did I just say that there had to be qualifications to become President! Well slap my face and call me stupid!

Emma   November 10th, 2009 9:35 am ET

Sarah Palin is an embarrassment to women world-wide. We need a viable woman candidate for President, not an idiot masquerading as intelligent. Palin will set women back for decades if she continues her crazy attempt at becoming President.

I would vote for an alien before voting for her!

Tram   November 10th, 2009 9:34 am ET

You got trouble, my friends,
Right here in Sioux City.
Trouble with a capital T that rhymes with P that stands for Palin.

You surely got trouble,
Right here in Sioux City,
Gotta figure out a way to keep stupidity from wailin'

Texas Annie *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*   November 10th, 2009 9:33 am ET

First of all, I figure someone else had to tell Sarah how to spell "rogue" and explain the meaning to her. And I totally doubt she actually wrote any of this book– she can't put a coherent paragraph together, let alone an entire book

Secondly, WHY does the media even give this woman the time of day??? She is NOT qualified to hold ANY elective office. (I suspect most Alaskan voters regret having ever put her in office to begin with.) She continually proves herself to be uneducated & uninformed & uninterested. She is concerned with advancing herself personally– and that is the sum total of her politicial agenda.

SURELY the Republican party can find a better candidate than this woman. I have ZERO respect for her and wouldn't vote for her under ANY circumstances.

Jack in Florida   November 10th, 2009 9:31 am ET

WHO CARES?????? Stop promoting this moron by your constant coverage.

Jenny   November 10th, 2009 9:30 am ET

Come to my town; don't come to my town. It doesn't matter: You've already got my vote for president!

Tell it like it is...and make our presidential office known for support of our troops–not the lack of it, like the current admin.

Reny   November 10th, 2009 9:29 am ET

This moron is fooling no one. We all knwo she will try to run in 2012 and she will be shredded. I can't wait for her to announce she is running. It will be hilarious watching her get trounced by her fellow repub presidential candidates.

P. D.   November 10th, 2009 9:29 am ET

It doesn't matter if Sarah goes to Iowa. Her chance of running for Pres. is shot. The moment she quit being Govenor sealed her fate. Add the fact that her family problems are going to escalate now that Levi Johnston is suing for custody.

Jim   November 10th, 2009 9:28 am ET

SkiDoc   November 10th, 2009 9:25 am ET

O.K., libs, get that vitriol flowing. You know – "why does CNN pay so much attention to her?" or "all beauty no brains" or "ask Katy Couric about her readiness to govern." It doesn't matter. Sarah will just steamroll over her detractors, and those wretched NOW ladies will once again watch her trimph. You betcha! Go Sarah!

Susie   November 10th, 2009 9:24 am ET

Anyone that buys this trash must be brain dead.

Why doesn't this woman begin to act her own values like looking after her family and being a true mother to her morally neglected children. It would appear she has no ethics and definately is unable to deal with emotional problems. No tact, no discretion, no honour, no dignity just a loud mouth. In fact a walking disaster.

God bless America. We deserve better than Sarah Palin.

tomm   November 10th, 2009 9:23 am ET

How embarassing.... I feel sorry for Sioux City..........

The Dude   November 10th, 2009 9:23 am ET

Please let her run in 2012. That would be the gift that keeps on giving. Not only would it be the funniest campaign in history, she would hand the Democrats an easy victory. How can I contribute?

RTB   November 10th, 2009 9:23 am ET

Isn't she a bit over extending her 15 minutes.

ross berg-buffalo ny   November 10th, 2009 9:22 am ET

Well so far the Dems wish has been granted that Sarah stay in the national spotlight. Now they've got to keep their collective fingers crossed that she doesn't wander into any situations where she has to think on her feet as we know how that turns out!!

With a LOT of good luck she'll stay on stage until the '012 cycle and maybe even be on the Republican's national ticket??? Hard to believe that the Dems could be that lucky!!!

Ladydiodes   November 10th, 2009 9:21 am ET

No one is going to vote for this loser 2012, she has had her 15 minutes of fame, and its now time for her to take care of her children, that she hasn't seen in months.

FAYE MOGHTADER   November 10th, 2009 9:21 am ET

she must be very grateful to john mcain, whom brought her to the public arena, who would have heard about her.now she is cashing on the fame, her disfunctional family are all interesting for people.
only in america, some one like her gets news coverage.i will never buy her book or listen to her,she lowers my iq.

Former Iowa Boy   November 10th, 2009 9:21 am ET

Ah Sarah Palin and NW Iowa– the two were made for each other. That part of the great state of Iowa which has elected Steve "dumber than a stump" King to the House of Representatives will no doubt wet themselves to see the Sarah "the nutjob" Palin blather on despite fact that the truth seldom passes her lips.

D. D.   November 10th, 2009 9:18 am ET

She needs help. Isn't there a journalist/researcher who can assist her? She is not very indepth in her statements that make her look like a national buffon much to the standards of Michelle Bauchmann, Ann Coulter, Carrie P. and Gretchen on Fox News- attractive but shallow none the less. She is pitiful but getting very wealthy nonetheless.

Dems scared of Palin?   November 10th, 2009 9:18 am ET

I still fail to understand why all the hate and vitriol for Sarah. If Dems and CNN think she is so stupid and irrelevant, then why the daily articles? Seems fishy to me, I think they try to attack and destroy those they are afraid of the most....

Tom B   November 10th, 2009 9:18 am ET

This fight for relevance without doing anything of substance is getting rather annoying. I personally blame Spencer and Heidi together with the media.

Kris   November 10th, 2009 9:17 am ET

She's a bafoon! Please just go away!!!!

victim of republican greed   November 10th, 2009 9:15 am ET

Not Right or Left but Forward   November 10th, 2009 9:15 am ET

Oh, thank the heavens – I'd gone almost 17 hours without a new article on this nobody appearing on CNN!

What a waste of bandwidth! Doesn't CNN have something other to write about besides her? There are 49 other states whose governors are doing something constructive – even if they're chasing women (or men) or trying to find work on reality shows. Palin is NOT news. CNN has become her personal advertising network – doing everything they can to get her followers to flock to their website. The otehr day they even referred to her as the former "presidential" candidate – which I'm sure was news to John McCain. GET A GRIP – SHE'S NOBODY.

When Palin ran for V.P. I thought she didn't have enough experience but after having Obama as president for a while CLEARLY Palin would have served us better; not as V.P. but as president.

Taylor   November 10th, 2009 9:05 am ET

Can CNN let a single day go by without some headline news article about Palin updating her facebook page or visiting a bookstore? CNN is obviously pandering to the radical leftists whose hatred of Palin and all things Republican has no bounds.

Torin   November 10th, 2009 9:05 am ET

Caribou Barbie can't wait to get on the campaign trail. She loves to be adored by her followers. What conservatives see in Palin escapes me. She will surely put her hat in the ring to become the Republican nominee for President in 2012. You betcha!

There are a lot of people and many issues that deserve coverage more than Palin. She cannot handle an easy job in Alaska and though she may be able to read her comprehension is poor.
Could we get on to a new topic?
Maybe some coverage about the way people are dealing with the economy, how is education, ..... How are people working together to make the world a better place.
CNN is a news source – you should be able to get the idea.

Todd   November 10th, 2009 8:58 am ET

Please please please please start reporting actual political news. not even the republicon part of beck, hinity and Chairman Limbaugh wll be stupid enough to even consider this woman in 2012. By then her looks will be fading and she has absolutely nothing else to offer. She is the local sports gal pretending to have something to say. My God enough of her already. Cover huckleberry hound or any of the other goops who at least have a chance of standing to lose to Obama in 2012. She will be long long gone by then.

So we have FORMER GOVERNOR Palin who probably cannot even read half the words in her new book and Governor Huckabee – one of the most articulate people I have ever heard. While I do not agree with the politics of either, I know which one I would rather meet!

I am still looking forward to when she appears on Oprah and is asked to read a section of her book when she probably doesn't know even how it starts! How's that for "gotcha reporting"?

Why would anyone in Sioux City turn out for a woman who pals around with Chinese Commies?

aproudmemberoftheunpatrioticmob   November 10th, 2009 8:49 am ET

The CNN obsession with Palin is unbelievable. Fox is supposedly the pro conservative, pro Repulbican voice of America and it does not give hardly anything about her. Is the reason CNN does because it gives the libertards a chance to show their hatred and hostility rather than going postal in society?

Mlhall   November 10th, 2009 8:48 am ET

run a state how is she going to run a country

Alex in California   November 10th, 2009 8:38 am ET

As a Republican, Sarah Palin cannot be the future of the Republican Party if our party is to prevail in the next election. This candidate has proven she is a quiter and only cares about herself. There is no way in hell I'd ever consider voting for her. When individuals like her are presented as a viable candidate for the Presidency, joining the Independant Party sounds more appealing each day!

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   November 10th, 2009 8:34 am ET

Blah blah blah. CNN, you seriously need to stop posting articles of this failure. Her book will be a failure just like her governorship. No one likes a quitter or a person who violates ethics laws. If she wants to promote that crappy book of hers, she better stick to the rural redneck parts of the country. God forbid she steps foot into a metropolitan city. She wouldn't last 5 seconds.

We Won Get Over It   November 10th, 2009 8:28 am ET

Could it be possible to get her lost and she end up in the melting north pole. Oh no, we can't do that she might screw up Santa Claus and his toys since she doesn't believe in any of the social services.

Bob in Kansas City   November 10th, 2009 8:26 am ET

When will Americans realize how dangerous extreme conservatism is to a free society. Have we not learned anything from the temperance movement, the prohibition movement, the McCarthyism movement and the current nazi anti-medical procedure movement?

JonDie   November 10th, 2009 8:25 am ET

Her book should be titled: "Going Grifter – An American Lie."

Mike   November 10th, 2009 8:23 am ET

Good for her, I hope she comes near my home town so I can have her sign copies of her book that I have ordered for myself and gifts for others.

Wow keep it up Sarah!!! If you are all the GOP has, its gonna be a fun 2012. OR are you going to join the Florida teabagger party. It will be interesting to see the GOP being 2 parties. Thanks GOP!!! Thanks Sarah!!!

I'll bet that Palin hasn't read her book yet.
