Inaddition every officer selected for o4 and above and Enlisted being selected for E-8 and E-9...

I think a very thorough background check of every federal employee, including the military recruits is necessary, for a number of reasons. Targeting only Muslims makes the assumption that all Muslims are extremists, which is false. Those of you on here who are preaching hate against Muslims and are stereotyping them are only making the situation worse. Its not a matter of political correctness, it's about fairness and equality. As a democrat who voted Obama in office, he has already fouled this one up. Remember, his administration reduced terrorism to the following term, "man made disaster". President Obama at Ft. Hood said, it was not terrorism. The major was not charged with terrorism but murder. This report has no effect on terrorism because the administration does not use this as a national policy.

I dont believe the man that shot 38 people at Fort Hood is solely responsible for those tragic events. When things of this nature occur ,conspiracy looms in the minds of our people. A distrust that has grown within most americans stemming from unrighteous acts by our goverment. That distrust or closure will only begin to dwindle when righteousness in our government prevails.

What's needed is a federal investigator to lead the probe. The last thing we need is the Army investigating itself, especially in light of the unconscionable cover-up they did with the death of Pat Tillman.

Rather than political correctness, I suggest the real problem is that, because the Army has so few psychiatrists to deal with PTSD and other problems of soldiers (and particularly Muslims) when returning from combat, they were reluctant to get rid of him unless they were convinced it was absolutely necessary.

By the way, all of Blackwater (now Xe) are terrorists as well. They should be de-funded and locked up for war crimes.

But yes, when Napolitano said that some service members may be a lone wolf, she also might known something that we didn't know about Major Hasan. I am not taking Napolitano off the hook. I just hope next time that if some agencies know something about a certain individuals to do something about it, rather than wait until something drastic happens.

I am a staunch democrat, and I am for the whole profiling thing when it comes to preventing attacks on america, including tis one. This wasn't a case of political correctness run amok, it was outright imcompetance by the agencies tasked with keeping americans safe.

I am absolutely opposed to profiling and discrimination. This guy was throwing up red flags all over the place. Political correctness and the irrational fear of offending people allowed him to continue to descend into insanity and homicidal tendencies. Most Muslims are law abiding, peaceful people; this one was not. His deplorable actions were not a function of his religion but products of a deranged mind and warped zealotry.

As a veteran, I must say that the army failed those soldiers. Considering the era of terrorism we now live in, the army and every establishment that has large number of people assembling or working in them should have armed security, plain or uniformed clothing, ready to protect it from such sudden mayhem. We should stop being naive about our security and be more proactive. Instead of waiting for the usual police officers to arrive, armed security should be always present in schools, colleges, day cares, etc
