Palin discussed Levi Johnston and the Katie Couric interviews in her sit-down with Oprah.
Palin discussed Levi Johnston and the Katie Couric interviews in her sit-down with Oprah.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin and her almost-son-in-law Levi Johnston have been in a war of words for months, but the former Alaska governor told Oprah Winfrey in just-released clips of the highly-anticipated interview that he is still "part of the family."

While not directly saying whether or not Johnston is invited to Thanksgiving dinner, Palin said her family still has affection for Johnston.

"It's lovely to think that he would ever even consider such a thing," Palin told Winfrey. "Because of course you want - he is a part of the family and you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing. And he needs that, too."

Discussing her new book, "Going Rogue: An American Life," on Winfrey's famous couch, Palin said she and her family want to make peace with Johnston and move past the dramatics that have unfolded in the media over the last year. Johnston was once engaged to Palin's daughter, Bristol, and is the father of Palin's grandson, Tripp.

"I think he needs to know that he is loved and he has the most beautiful child, and this can all work out for good," Palin said. "It really can. We don't have to keep going down this road of controversy and drama all the time. We're not really into the drama. We don't really like that. We're more productive."

Palin also called her interview with Katie Couric during the campaign a "bad interview," but said the campaign staff encouraged her to continue to do others after that.

"The campaign said, 'Right on. Good. You're showing your independence. This is what America needs to see and it was a good interview,'" Palin said. "And of course I'm thinking, if you thought that was a good interview, I don't know what a bad interview is because I knew it was a bad interview."

Palin's full sit-down with Winfrey will air on Monday, the day before her memoir hits bookstores.

Seems she is sugar coating the Levi connection from this bit of what is to come. You can tell by these few comments that they haven't spoken in quite awhile.
But I particularly loved the "We're not really into the drama..." and "We're more productive". What planet is she on?
Maybe she doesn't read these posts. Nah, she's too narcissistic to ignore anything written about her.

Antonio_elizabeth-NJ   November 12th, 2009 4:20 pm ET

The woman is unbelievable. Not in a good way.

Lynne   November 12th, 2009 4:20 pm ET

When is CNN going to cover Palin's once again false claim about her conspiracy about the new coins? Even Fox News called her on this!!

Julius   November 12th, 2009 4:18 pm ET

We're 'not really into the drama' – says the drama queen.

aa   November 12th, 2009 4:18 pm ET

Palin you destroyed your image already... soooooo please leave us alone

WI Cheesehead   November 12th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

Palin thrives on ignorance. She came to Milwaukee the other day to address a "pro-life" group. Of course politics got in the way and she went after President Obama, mocking his signature phrase "Change we can believe in" and suggesting he had authorized moving the words "In God we trust" from the face of a new $1 coin to its edge. FACT, the coin's format was re-engineered several years ago by Republicans in Congress and signed into law by President George W. Bush.

Tim, Seattle   November 12th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

HA HA HA HA!!!

Really? The Quitter Twitter isnt in to drama? HA HA HA HA HA

They call me "tater salad"   November 12th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

Last time I checked, Sarah Palin is not a politician nor does she hold any public office and neither does Oprah!........ Shouldn't she be in the entertainment column?

Sharon   November 12th, 2009 4:15 pm ET

Yeah, and Santa Claus is real. Levy better watch himself, before she announces to the world that he is a terrorist or pals around with terrorist. No, he is part of the death panels!! Basically, she lies or hallucinates- whichever floats her boat on any particular day.

Charlotte   November 12th, 2009 4:15 pm ET

HAHAHAhahahahahahaaaa!!!! Tina, get your specs out and get ready for a deluge of material, SNL's ratings will go through the rooftop. Meanwhile, Oprah has completely lost what minor credibility she might once have aspired to.

theotherguy   November 12th, 2009 4:15 pm ET

I'm sure he would know a lot more about his child if he were allowed to see him.
I think Palin is only saying she wants to get past all the drama because he said that a lot of things were going to come out about her in his own book.

TerryMD   November 12th, 2009 4:15 pm ET

How can she say she's not into the drama, when she is the source of all drama?

Karl Hungus   November 12th, 2009 4:13 pm ET

So she abandoned her post of Governor of Alaska to go on a book tour? That's responsible. And just what the American public deserves.

Naldo   November 12th, 2009 4:13 pm ET

Everything she says is the opposite of something she said before.

Mark C. Williams   November 12th, 2009 4:13 pm ET

No drama? If you say so, but my observation, among others, is Palin is all about trailer trash drama. She does nothing different than I expect for an uneducated person.

Chris C   November 12th, 2009 4:12 pm ET

"...you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing." haha, yeah right.. that's politician speak for we want him to shut up.

Chuck   November 12th, 2009 4:10 pm ET

"Not really into the drama" OMG!!!!

JB   November 12th, 2009 4:10 pm ET

Not into the drama, my arse. This woman feeds on it. And if I were Levi, I'd stay the heck away from that house. We may never see him again. Wait ... that's not a bad thing either.

HD   November 12th, 2009 4:10 pm ET

This woman is such a fake. She just tells her followers what they want to hear and acts like a underdog for the people. Clearly she is not and her treatment of Levi Johnson, the father of her grandchild is proof of her horrible hypocrisy. It would be nice if the media could focus on some real issues that concern the country and not this political soap queen.

mijnoss   November 12th, 2009 4:09 pm ET

I love Sarah Palin. I hope she is our next President.

SamSunny   November 12th, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Really? Wow, Levi must be getting to her. I don't buy that Sarah is all that forgiving. I would advise Levi to be very careful.

RSB   November 12th, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Sarah, you are in to drama (especially when there are cameras involved). Didn't you think talking about death panels and saying the president palled around with terroists was dramatic? Not to mention lies! I'm sure you think by going on Oprah's show it will help your book sale. Heck, in your mind you probably think she'll make it part of her book club.
From what I hear it's only five chapters which tells me it doesn't take much to go rogue.
While you'e doing this, who's watching your kids? Who's paying for your health insurance these days?

TiminDallas   November 12th, 2009 4:05 pm ET

Glad I've got something more important to do Monday, like clean the bathroom and kitchen.

Four and The Door   November 12th, 2009 4:05 pm ET

Sarah Palin is really a gracious, intelligent woman. I look forward to her continuing participation in Federal government and the strong influence she can have in getting this country back on track.

don abel   November 12th, 2009 4:03 pm ET

Palin is fantastic she is a smart women who never got in to politic's realy but she know's beter then obama what america should be like , and we american people realy need and want !

Brilet   November 12th, 2009 4:02 pm ET

The Palin's live for drama. I don't understand why she is still around. I can't believe I voted for this woman!! Her and her family have become a complete embarassment.

Alex   November 12th, 2009 4:01 pm ET

Well of course he's considered a member of the family – he's made a "dash for the cash" almost as fast as Sarah. All is forgiven if he's bringing in the bucks. Depending on how much money Playgirl pay him, Ma & Pa Palin might just try to get their daughter to marry him after all.

Stephanie   November 12th, 2009 4:01 pm ET

I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin at all, but I give her much credit for holding her head high about this Levi character. He really just needs to do what's best for his son, and it's great that Palin takes the high road even if Johnston doesn't.

Saracuda's Tsunami begins Monday :)

Perecorp   November 12th, 2009 3:57 pm ET

Hey Sarah:

Talk about what you know....pigs, lipstick and your secessionist traitor of a husband.

rick   November 12th, 2009 3:56 pm ET

That may have been the first intelligent series of sentences I have ever heard Sarah Palin speak. While I still believe my dog Bootsy would make a better President than she would. I will give her credit for trying to do the right thing in this situation.

Buckhorn   November 12th, 2009 3:56 pm ET

How can anyone believe anything that comes out of this woman's mouth!
And some people would vote for her for President. What a sorry mess that would be.

Logan   November 12th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

Why does Sarah Palin threaten you so much that you have to make such comments? Are you that dependent that the thought of being independent and standing on your own two feet (without the aid of government) brings out such insecurities? Maybe it's time to grow up! Pay your own way. Stop being a leech off of taxpayers. What does freedom mean to you?

Mary Lou   November 12th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

This woman went to Oprah's interview very well prepared to NOT tell the truth, but what would make her look good. The looking good is only in her own mind and the mind of her trainers.

She fools no one but those who blindly cling to her every word and they are getting fewer as time goes on.

It is still obvious she has not taken any English courses to improve her grammar.

Buckhorn   November 12th, 2009 3:55 pm ET

What a hypocrite!

Elle   November 12th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Funny how Palin is now calling the Katie Couric interview simply "a bad interview" when during her campaign she accused Couric (and the rest of the media) of treating her badly. Maybe she needs to hire someone who can help her keep her stories straight.

steve   November 12th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Why is this woman still newsworthy ?

Pam   November 12th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Oprah and Palin separately are bad enough, I can't imagine watching the 2 of them together for an hour. Pure torture!

MJ   November 12th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Please, please, make this woman go away. As Bugs Bunny said 'She's a maroon'.

Bill P   November 12th, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Palin lives for the drama.
Without the drama she is nothing.
And the drama is what brings in the $$$.
If you do not want drama, Sarah, go back to Alaska and quietly raise your kids.
We will not come looking for you.

joe   November 12th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

How did she got to be the governor of Alaska? she do not sound educated and intelligent to me but anyway this is America, the land of opportunity.

Miriam Korshak   November 12th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Why am I reminded of a Trojan horse?

Nick   November 12th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

Betcha she'd love to rip Levi into pieces. On Oprah's couch however, she pretends to be a loving wants-no-harm hockey mom, to drive up sales of her book.

Eric   November 12th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

There she is, Miss America 2012 in all her glory. Now the only thing she has yet to do is promote her own sex tape. Look at what it's done for the likes of Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and her protoge Carrie Prejean. She'd get her own reality show and could leave the troubles of government behind.

Jim   November 12th, 2009 3:50 pm ET

"We're not really into the drama. We don't really like that." Give me a break. More of her lies. She is all about drama, money and self. Just once, some honesty please. Service to America, not so much.

Ray Jackson, Ms   November 12th, 2009 3:49 pm ET

Oh please Levi let someone mic you up and record what she really says to you face to face so we will have even more proof of what a liar this woman is.

bill   November 12th, 2009 3:48 pm ET

sarah palin has an extremely high "C" factor

Mike in NJ   November 12th, 2009 3:47 pm ET

So, I wonder if she will stand her ground, like GWB, and say things like "It was a bad interview," but never, "I was completely unprepared."

Serious times. Serious problems. For Serious people.

Mrs. Palin, please have a seat and let those who can deal with these issues, and who won't quit when things get difficult, as you did in Alaska. You were the Governor of a State, Madam. That is the 2nd highest Executive Office one can hold in the United States. And you QUIT.

NOT ACCEPTABLE. Enjoy your life. Step AWAY from political leadership – you have proven unable to handle it. Have a great day.

karen   November 12th, 2009 3:47 pm ET

Good for her. I am glad she will be out there on her terms. The people
that condemned her before even knowing her will get a chance to hear what she is really all about. What she has done for Alaska as Governor. I bet some people that said she had no experience are eating their words. She was running for Vice President and look what inexperience has gotten us with Obama.

kr   November 12th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

CNN if we wanted to know what Palin said during her interview with Oprah we would watch the show. This is twice today you have loaded this woman into the political tickler; she is old news. If she should happen to run we will hear about her enough. There is other news that is worthy of this page; please report and it would be nice to get a break from Palin. I know you will delete this but your blogs are full of bloggers who feel the same way. What is CNN's attraction to this self-centered woman anyway; there has to be one. If you expect a lot of people to believe her comments about Levi than you are taking one side. I do not believe anything the quitter has to say she has been caught in too many lies and she is a quitter; she will quit on anything if it dosen't serve SARA. She only likes the attention of the media not the pressure of the debates, Oprah and Walters are a piece of cake related to seasonal debator and news reporters.

lucy   November 12th, 2009 3:46 pm ET

"We're really not into the drama. We don't really like that. We're more productive." Wow. I'm speechless, Sarah.

Sarah Junior   November 12th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Palin Fan   November 12th, 2009 3:44 pm ET

Sarah Palin is awesome. She's like the little engine that could, but she can't. It's amazing that anyone could take her and her political dreams seriously. The only place her and her family should be appearing on television is Jerry Springer.

Something about Sarah Palin unnerves me. She is such an ignorant, hypocritical and divisive person. She'll put on the all-american happy face just to hustle her book. YUKKK!!!!

Danny   November 12th, 2009 3:37 pm ET

Fellow Democrats. If you want to get CNN to stop reporting on Ms. Palin's every movement, stop submitting comments about her. Once they stop getting hundreds of comments, pro & con, which show that many people are reading the articles, they'll stop posting them here.

SH in TX   November 12th, 2009 3:37 pm ET

I'm pretty sure what she meant to say about Levi Johnson was : "If I had him sitting here right now, I would strangle him with my bare hands for having the nerve to tell all of America the truth about me and the rest of my family."

Meka   November 12th, 2009 3:36 pm ET

Patrick   November 12th, 2009 3:35 pm ET

Please. Sarah Palin is the antonym of productivity, using fear, haste and demagoguery for strictly political purposes.

TheUndecidedMajority   November 12th, 2009 3:35 pm ET

This lady is such a dolt. Sure they all still love Levi (including Bristol I'm sure) and she would just take him under her arm after all that has happened. I knew she was a psycho but it only takes her to open her mouth to confirm it for me. I am sure all of the articulate insights *laugh* and intelligent viewpoints *cough* her book will have will be riveting but in the end I will keep my money and wait for the Cliff Notes that come out via news articles. However, now that I think of it maybe I will buy it because it will be good for me to laugh (probably to tears)!

Sarah Palin is sooooo transparent – she is all about the drama – just a good ale american girl (right)

Michael   November 12th, 2009 3:33 pm ET

Interesting! "While not directly saying whether or not Johnston is invited to Thanksgiving dinner"....that's not a very 'God-like' thing to elude to Sarah.
Did she talk about how her teenage daughter got pregnant under the roof of someone who claims absitnence is the only acceptable form of birth control? No, because it would show that her way of thinking ultimately is so flawed that even her own daughter who's likely been raised hearing such things her entirely life didn't even take it to heart.

What a sham Palin is!!!!! I wonder if she read her book?

Erin Perkins   November 12th, 2009 3:33 pm ET

He's probably too busy shooting pornographic pictures to spend time with family on Thanksgiving. Am I the only one who developed an extreme distaste for pistachios after Levi started appearing in commercials? I'm not a Palin fan by any stretch of the imagination, but Levi is a pebble in America's shoe.

Frozone   November 12th, 2009 3:33 pm ET

Not into drama? Well whoever writes Sarah's Facebook blog sure loves to kick up drama.

Dennis   November 12th, 2009 3:33 pm ET

We're more productive? Just is what is that suppose to mean? Spreading your lies, hate and discontent? Pretending to be a Christian, when you're not.

As a Christian, I have a hard time trying to convince the unsaved that Christianity is what they need for their lives when we have examples of Sarah Palin and others espousing their holier than thou attitudes.

Why does CNN keep wasting time and energy on Palin. Who cares what she thinks? The only reason Oprah even is talking to Palin is that she thinks it will increase her (Oprah's) net worth. Palin is a has been. No one cares what she thinks, what Levi thinks or what anyone in Palin's family thinks. Let her stay in Alaska where she belongs.

Is CNN becoming Entertainment TV now?

Albie   November 12th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

You may not be a fan of Sarah Palin, but Levi Johnston is a supreme media hound who is both thoughtless and egotistical. In his quest for fame, he has attacked for the sake of celebrity. The sad thing is the media seems intent on giving him the limelight he craves just like it's done for Jon Gosselin.

Mike A   November 12th, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Sarah Palin is totally self-absorbed and self-serving. She is a sociopath who belives everything she says even when faced with irrefutable proof of her blantant lies (death panels anyone).. She is cashing in; it's time for everyone to ingore her.

Dave Levi   November 12th, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Mike   November 12th, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Does she still think that she has foreign policy experience because she could see Russia?

Roger   November 12th, 2009 3:26 pm ET

"A bad interview"?

It was a disaster for her. It pretty much turned the tide on any further support from your average American voter.

She couldn't name a single newspaper that she read.

She couldn't name a single court case that she'd like to review (just after the Supreme Court decision that disappointed the state of Alaska, reducing the compensation for damages from the Exxon Valdez oil spill disaster).

When asked about the proposed Big Bank bailout, her rambling response was so muddled and confused, SNL used it in their skit verbatim. No comedy writers needed there.

"Fiscal Responsibility?"

Do a search online as to how Wasilla got their new sales tax, and a Big New Hockey Rink for a hockey mom and her contractor friends.

"Fiscal responsibility" should be more than just a sound bite aimed at the opposition.

ERP   November 12th, 2009 3:26 pm ET

Of course Palin and "son-in-law" Levi are not "really into the drama", they're really into the white trash tabloid soap opera. Scary that a significant number of Americans still continue to consider this woman a serious candidate for the Presidency.

Reny   November 12th, 2009 3:26 pm ET

He probably has some great dirt on her and she is trying to hush him up.

C.K.   November 12th, 2009 3:25 pm ET

I can only imagine how silly Palin felt finally admitting she had a bad interview, well, several bad interviews. I'm glad to see she was honest about that. I still do not have confidence in her that she could or would ever be fit to be VP of the U.S., or even the POTUS!

The only thing I wish we could collectively "move past" - is Palin herself.

Why would anyone listen to this dimwit?

The world is a very complicated place.
We need people in power with the view of the big picture.

Do we need someone whose husband was a member of an Alaska secession group?
Do we need someone whose Minister believes in witch doctors?

We need someone who can see a library from there house.

Seriously, Palin isn't even really that "hot". Sure, compare her to all the grumpy old men that make up the majority of the GOP and she is, but really..... However, Conservatives never really did have good taste. Or any taste for that matter. They're mesmerized by shiny trinkets.

I believe most conservatives don't care if Palin is right or wrong when it come to the greatness of America...as long as she's for THEM. (I'm happy Jesus was a liberal or we all would be in for it)

ken sanders   November 12th, 2009 3:18 pm ET

I for one am not interested in this Lady's personal life. I think she is an opportunist trying to milk as much attention and money out of all this that she has by no means earned. She is too shallow to be given much responsibility. That is my opinion.

Josef F   November 12th, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Did she jump up and down on the couch and act crazy? Or is that just something she does in every single other media outlet in the country?

Pegasus   November 12th, 2009 3:18 pm ET

It's lovely to think that he would ever even consider such a thing," Palin told Winfrey. "Because of course you want – he is a part of the family and you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing. And he needs that, too."
****************************************************************************
What is she talking about with this statement that doesn't make sense? And she knows darn well she could care less about Levi. He's not a part of that family...he's only a part of that baby. As usual, Palin is full of dooky. And she is still trying to earn brownie points.

Ernestine   November 12th, 2009 3:18 pm ET

She wants to make peace with Levi now, why? is because everything that he is saying is true about her. Because if it were all lies she would be suing him already.

kevin   November 12th, 2009 3:17 pm ET

please go away sarah, come back if you have something real. ok.

JM   November 12th, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Sarah Palin is a joke, please stop talking about this twit like she matters to,... well, anyone one of importance. she is a Right wing religous nut, she is a quitter, and a liar. Pleas, please stop encourageing this moron, and start reporting the NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

suefromALASKA   November 12th, 2009 3:16 pm ET

This isn't politics! Put articles like this one under the "Smutty Trash" heading!

This is ian ignorant woman wanting to be something better without doing the hard work to get there.

John   November 12th, 2009 3:16 pm ET

Sarah is all show and no substance. But I'm not complaining. The more people that go for Sarah, the less that go for Bachman, and she actually scares me because unlike Palin she wants power more than money.

Lou   November 12th, 2009 3:16 pm ET

Wow, that is one interview I cannot wait to MISS.

larry   November 12th, 2009 3:16 pm ET

Sorry for the all caps, but – THIS WOMAN IS THE BIGGEST LYING PHONY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

chuck   November 12th, 2009 3:15 pm ET

Maybe she would prefer to distance herself from the dramatics of his new modeling stint.

jk from Ohio   November 12th, 2009 3:14 pm ET

You are not into drama? Yeah, right. Why do the most annoying women on the planet get the most air time? Palin and Prejaen (the ex- beauty queen brainless wonder) and the ugly wicked witch Michele Bachmann should not be household names. They should be ignored until they vanish into their own egos.

HBO   November 12th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

Hmmm... Did Oprah go soft on this woman? I mean everybody knows that Palin is nothing less than a DRAMA QUEEN. So, for Palin to say "we're not really into the drama" is nothing short of a bold-faced lie. That's all she does is create drama!

C. Farrell, Houston, Tx   November 12th, 2009 3:11 pm ET

Palin needs to read an English book instead of writing a "drama" book. Makes you wonder if she ever opened her English book in class or just thumbed through the pages as she appears to do with everything.

Bob of Lompoc   November 12th, 2009 3:11 pm ET

"He needs to know he is loved". "We're not into drama".

Good grief lady, do you think he wants to be loved by YOU ?

You're not into drama ? You are more of a complete phony than I was ever aware.

Please, disappear from America. Take your new wealth, from the book which could never have been written except for that stupid move by McCain nominating you for V-P, and move to Argentina, with the rest of the few Nazis who remain alive.

You are a disgusting human being.

carlos, THAT one   November 12th, 2009 3:11 pm ET

Levi is 1000 times more credible than this getting old lady, where did the looks go?

barry g   November 12th, 2009 3:10 pm ET

I still don't get what the press and the public see in Palin. By the way who is at home watching the kids?, as a republican co worker asked me the other day!

Alfred H.   November 12th, 2009 3:10 pm ET

I don't believe her. I believe Johnston. He has no reason to lie. She does. What a phony.

Shana   November 12th, 2009 3:10 pm ET

Well, it's about time something sensible came out of her mouth. Perhaps she finally listened to the lone adviser pleading with her to stop reacting to the ruminations of an irresponsible youth.

smac   November 12th, 2009 3:10 pm ET

I'm not buying it, if she is not into drama why respond to his comments?

AmyP   November 12th, 2009 3:08 pm ET

I Love Sarah.......always the bigger person. Can't wait to see more of her and that will be hard with CNN as they are so OBSESSED with her. She is a true force and Barach should be worried.

Kathleen   November 12th, 2009 3:08 pm ET

I do not believe her for one minute. She has put out so many incorrect statements that I cannot believe the media gives her so much attention. Why would anyone want to buy her book?

BenBear   November 12th, 2009 3:07 pm ET

Please – the Queen of Drama is "not really into the drama?"
The woman who has yet to complete a job she has chosen to take?

Garry from Kentucky   November 12th, 2009 3:07 pm ET

I wonder if Oprah will plug her storybook and, I do mean storybook. It should be in the children's section of your local bookstore. Actually it should be on the markdowns.

Wonder what this peace effort with the estranged son-in-law is all about? I smell handlers behind it. I am sure Palin would rather take him wolf hunting – and, he falls from the chopper!!!

TexasTea   November 12th, 2009 3:07 pm ET

Although I think it's all about preserving her image, I'm glad to see that she's not saying negative things about Levi. He's an immature child not worth the energy. Now, Sarah could benefit from a good communications class or something, she needs to learn how to better frame her words and sentences.

canadian pov   November 12th, 2009 3:06 pm ET

Oprah's guest yesterday (the victim of the chimp attack) is a far more beautiful and decent human being than Palin could ever be. I hope that someone as well read as Oprah would ask the idiot if she knew that "going rogue" was not a positive trait? Being Canadian and can sit back and take a chuckle at the ridiculousness of the celebrity culture that envelopes the US but when people like Palin can get so close to actually having power in the WH - the whole world must shudder in disbelief.

Jeff Brown in Jersey   November 12th, 2009 3:05 pm ET

Here is our daily dose of Sarah...yawn...

Conservative Independant   November 12th, 2009 3:04 pm ET

The problems between them will go on until nobody offers the lad money to keep it going. Meanwhile his son suffers for the sake of daddy not needing to work like a real man and provider. He needs to man up and get a steady job. Continuing to read script from those making money from using him isn't being a real man. Bristol could have done so much better than this slug. As for all those griping about more Palin stories just stop reading them and you won't have an issue.

CLT   November 12th, 2009 3:04 pm ET

I don't agree with her politics, and the fact that she remains in the media daily, but I do respect the fact that she is offering Levi the Olive Branch....

sherry   November 12th, 2009 3:03 pm ET

Sound's to me like Sarah's a little scared at what Levi could let the world know about her. She probably has a few skeleten's in the closet that she does'nt want revealed. Trying to play nice nice now has me wondering.......Hmmmmm......

killbucket   November 12th, 2009 3:03 pm ET

Palin said. "And of course I'm thinking, if you thought that was a good interview, I don't know what a bad interview is because I knew it was a bad interview." -What was she trying to say? That sentence would get you tossed from English class. I cannot WAIT 'til Monday.

gekonge bwosano   November 12th, 2009 3:03 pm ET

suefromALASKA   November 12th, 2009 3:03 pm ET

Sarah is the Drama Queen.

She really is into drama. Her entire reign as governor of our state was based on drama. She didn't accomplish much, but she made sure much drama accompanied every word and action.

She still continues to spew hatred toward Levi Johnstone.

Yasmin   November 12th, 2009 3:02 pm ET

Don't you have something better to report ?????

Larry   November 12th, 2009 3:02 pm ET

not into drama?

What are you into Palin?

val   November 12th, 2009 3:02 pm ET

I am so glad that Oprah is a smart woman educated woman, because I am reading this mess and the whole thing sounds like a lie and if it sounds that way to me while reading it I couldn't imagine the hard time Oprah was having trying to keep a straight face.

Jose   November 12th, 2009 3:01 pm ET

What a BOLD FACED Lie!!!

"We're not really into the drama."

Yeah, that is why she is on OPRAH!!!! To downplay it all.

Michele   November 12th, 2009 3:01 pm ET

Wow, she talks a good game, doesn't see? Too bad her actions have spoken far louder than her polite, caring words here on national TV. On Oct. 28 she called Levi "mean spirited and malicious." Sure sounds like she wants to give him a big hug and forgive him. Oh wait, Sarah is for no apologies, no forgiveness. Somehow she missed those lessons in her conservative church. If anyone is buying this "I'm such a warm caring human being" nonsense, they deserve her. She is a cunning politician who is trying to sell books. It's almost comical to hear her say that she doesn't like drama: she thrives on it, or she would have done what she said, quit her job and taken care of her family. But no, out she goes, never to set foot in her beloved Alaska again. Betcha they have Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant, on her PAC money.

vette gal   November 12th, 2009 3:01 pm ET

Palin said. "We don't have to keep going down this road of controversy and drama all the time. We're not really into the drama."

Yeah, right! Then how come she instigates the controvery and drama that surrounds her? Because that's the only way she can stay in the limelight!

It's because of these kind of lies that I won't watch Oprah on the day Ms. Palin is the guest. I don't want to hear the constant stream of lies that come out of her mouth. Out of one side of her mouth, she's all sweetness and light and out of the other side, she's constantly riling up people with lies and outrageous statements that only incite the far conservative right.

fmjk   November 12th, 2009 3:01 pm ET

Palin not into the drama? That's hysterical. Palin made him a star.

I blame McCain for giving the woman a platform. Please go home to Alaska, Sarah. Start by making changes there!

Tales from the Trail   November 12th, 2009 2:58 pm ET

Hey Sarah, it was a "bad interview" because you didn't have intelligent answers to reasonable questions. It wasn't Couric's fault or the "mainstream media's" alleged bias – you were clearly not the best candidate at the time and it showed. Not that I expect such extremely obvious truths to change the way you continue to portray yourself as a victim.

kevin   November 12th, 2009 2:57 pm ET

gotta say, i am a conservative. Like palin alot. but i must agree with other cnn viewers and people who write to these stories. please, not just cnn, but all media, this woman needs to be left alone. I think if all leave her alone, we will see if she can or cannot stand alone and add positively politically to america or if she is in fact a fraud, a cult up personality or well basically what is up with her. we are not learning anything really about her true grit with these stories. thats my take. i must agree with both republicans and dems, leave her alone and lets see whats she really about. I think for what america really needs, this woman doesn't fit the bill. heck, i think hilary clinton, as much as i can t stand her, is a better fit as a leading woman in politics than sarah. thanks

She's a manipulator and she might be able to take Oprah's position because she will GET OVER... I wonder what the audience will ask??? Or were they also screened or given prepared cue cards?

Charles   November 12th, 2009 2:54 pm ET

Look, her interview's have never been "bad", she's just bad at them. When asked about which magazines she reads, "all of them" she replied. Really? Of course not. It's as though she ran on this "real Mom" premise and forgot to be a "real Mom" when the questions came. Someone needs to tell her to stop tying to be a Hallmark card and get back to Hockey Mom.

Barry   November 12th, 2009 2:53 pm ET

Another reason to hate Oprah. That she would even host this disgusting human being on her show is another unflattering glimpse into her character.

Aww, poor SARAH!!!

GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

Michelle   November 12th, 2009 2:52 pm ET

Thanks, Oprah, for extending this idiot's 15 minutes of fame. It's shameful that she was ever in the national media to begin with, but the fact that the media has allowed her stay to extend to more than a year is inexcusable.

Karl   November 12th, 2009 2:52 pm ET

Regarding Johnston...Hmm! She would not mind that he visit them on turkey day. I keep seeing the image after the campaign whereby the turkey farmer slaughter that one turkey. Now substitute that turkey with Johnston. Don't want to be crude. Just saying.

AEK   November 12th, 2009 2:40 pm ET

You know, if I respected one thing about Sarah Palin during the campaign, and this is REALLY STRETCHING, it is the fact that she declined the opportunity to be on Oprah. I mean they seem to be polar opposites in almost every way so why go on someone's TV show and deal with that whole thing. Now, I guess because she's attempting to sell this book someone wrote for her, she's all about doing the show. So, for that one little minute, hidden in time, I thought Sarah Palin wasn't a money hungry, hate monger with a huge "all about me" complex...my bad!

Mary   November 12th, 2009 2:40 pm ET

First off, I am no fan of Sarah Palin. This mess with Levi Johnston however, is absolutely ridiculous. The idea that the media, any part of it would give this teenage drop out a forum of any kind to spout his drivel is pathetic. This is a teenager whose only claim to fame is that he got someone pregnant and was used by Sarah Palin and John McCain. He knows nothing about the real world. He should concentrate on getting an education and a job. I'm sure he is receiving some sort of compensation so I wouldn't put it past him to make things up as he goes along. To question a teenager about the Sarah Palin and her relationships is way beyond the pale and totally disrespectful and should not be tolerated by anyone.

I think that Sarah Palin deserves a lot of praise for the good works that she does. The interview with Katie Couric shows what kind of person Katie Couric is and shows that she can be a very viscious person. I wish Sarah Palin good luck in whatever she endeavors to do and she would have made a better President than what we have now. Our country is slowly but surely going down the drain financially and morally. He may be a smooth speaker but has little else to give our failing country.

Oh boy, 'Mommie Dearest' herself speaks...most of this drama she refers to was brought on by Palin herself by 'using' Levi and parading him around in front of the media during the 2008 campaign and casting him aside after it was all over.

After leading Levi into the lion's den (media spotlight) does she really expect him to ignore that bright light now?

Steve   November 12th, 2009 2:29 pm ET

Of course she wants to stop the drama with Levi; it's an open artery in her image. The more he talks, the more America sees the REAL Sarah Palin behind the curtain. And Palin is desperate to keep that curtain up, because what's behind it is pretty darn nasty.

She started the snark with Levi, who's just a dumb kid... and she escalated it, and now that it's causing her damage, suddenly she's saying he's "part of the family" or what-not. This is all part of a long-standing pattern for Palin, where she uses people and discards them when they're no longer useful to her. Now Levi is a threat so she's trying to play all sweetness and light about it. Too little too late, Sarah.

This sociopath will NEVER be president. Her theocratic fanbase can just abandon their fantasies of that right now. She's as phony as Carrie Prejean.

Syed Shamsuddoha   November 12th, 2009 2:28 pm ET

I don't trust this lady. She was instrumental in screwing up Levi's life and I trust Levi's story. She is the one orchestrated Levi's sitting with her daughter Bristol during the Republican convention and I could literally see Levi being uncomfortable next to her. That's what went wrong with uneducated or ill-educated Palin to enter into the whole thing to cover up the reality.

Jane   November 12th, 2009 2:28 pm ET

I wouldn't want to be be brought into her fold. Her comments make me suspect that she may have some more dirty laundry in the closet if she's reaching out to Levi.

Susan   November 12th, 2009 2:27 pm ET

Go Sarah Go!

Jim   November 12th, 2009 2:25 pm ET

Please. Just. Go. Away.

Bill   November 12th, 2009 2:24 pm ET

So there is a disney land place for the Palin's and Levi. The guy is making money off the situation. She is making money off the situation..C'mon Oprah, let's just say that family and how Palin came off during the Couric interview is just how things are...the simple truth is that she has all these wingnuts and tea potters ranting and saying they want their country back...its' just the tip of the iceberg regarding how the book will fuel all of this crazy, money making effort on her part ot sell books, make some money and keep america stupid...

Willow   November 12th, 2009 2:24 pm ET

Palin is such a liar! If she wants to make peace with Levi then quit interfering by trying to deny him his legal and moral rights to have access his son!!!!

If this 'snippet' is an indicator of the rest of the interview who would want to watch the "Palin Lies" reruns?

Marie MD   November 12th, 2009 2:24 pm ET

Sorry folks, but shouldn't this be in the entertainment section along with the spears and hilton trash stories.
Not interested in the interview not just because I could care a rat's behind about this quitter but just thinking of that shrill pitched voice makes me puke.

windrider   November 12th, 2009 2:24 pm ET

"we're not really into the drama"?!?!?!?!?! Sarah Palin is all about drama, and she loves the 24/7 news cycle because she can always get herself on the news anytime, anywhere. What a hypocrite!

PEC   November 12th, 2009 2:23 pm ET

Wow. Is this christian values or what? As much as he has bad mouthed her to say he is still part of the family? This is called turning the other cheek.

Useyourbrain!!   November 12th, 2009 2:22 pm ET

I can't believe Palin would lie through her teeth on national television, regarding her "warm" feelings toward Levi.

Richard L   November 12th, 2009 2:22 pm ET

In other words, she may be afraid of what Levi has to say.

Party Purity will never bring Political Power!   November 12th, 2009 2:22 pm ET

Levi is writing his own book.

I predict he will make more from missy bribing him about NOT writing the true story of the Clampett family, than he will from actual books sales to the public.

Dylan from MN   November 12th, 2009 2:22 pm ET

"We're not really into drama."

Excuse me? You have ONLY brought drama since you've come into the spot light. I know it's easy to convince your under-educated small town American hicks, but anyone with an ounce of intelligence can see through chatter.

kathy   November 12th, 2009 2:20 pm ET

What-ever!!! I remain a huge supporter of Sarah Palin. She roots her foundation in values, morals and family and is an excellant example of the good that we all have inside ourselves but are often too selfish to extend to others. If more of us extended ourselves and our lives as she has done, we would be a better country for it.

Stephanie   November 12th, 2009 2:20 pm ET

I am so sick of this woman! I will not watch this episode of Oprah.

judi   November 12th, 2009 2:20 pm ET

I hope Mrs. Palin is telling the truth about Levi. The only one to really get hurt is the child. Children deserve mothers and fathers in their lives and everything else should not count, unless it is criminal. We need to give our children good lives.

Old White Virginia Female   November 12th, 2009 2:20 pm ET

I absolutely cannot imagine having Palin as a mother-in-law. What a nightmare!

Sea.gem   November 12th, 2009 2:19 pm ET

Two stories on Palin?...wow CNN continues to feed 'distraction' stories away from the crippled econoy and failed policies...I am NOT buying the "it would be worse" without my stikulus package...creating govt temp jobs does not improve the economy and GDP + C + I + G (govt spending)...take out govt spending and there was no rise in GDP...just a ploy to make it seem like things are better...even though there is no reflection of the increased debt used for the spending....more Obama untruths....

katiec   November 12th, 2009 2:19 pm ET

The drama queen of America is not into drama? Give us a break!!
CNN you r undying love and support for this hypocrit, liar, hate, anger and dividing our country agenda has to STOP.
Bloggers if we just ignore maybe CNN will FINALLY get the message.
They cannot seem to realize that their idea of what is important has put them at the bottom of the barrel with ratings.
From this day forward lets ignore any Palin or Palin related headline.

james darnley   November 12th, 2009 2:19 pm ET

this woman is scary like all republicans .just read the last line total contradiction..this woman is not playing with a full deck.this is not 1809 or even 1909 it;s 2009 and yet the republicans want to live in the past like the alamo just happened yesterday i don;t want to live in the past i want to look for solutions and move into the future.the past is dead what applied in the past proberly worked back then but times change and they don;t work now.

Oh Boy!!!???   November 12th, 2009 2:18 pm ET

She looks like Peggy Hill?

Dave   November 12th, 2009 2:18 pm ET

Why does CNN have such an infatuation with Palin?

Personally, I like her. She is everything most of you scream about: someone on the outside of Washington. Meanwhile you vote for Obama: an inexperienced inside man controlled by the far far left. Pretty funny really.

Oh well, I hope most of you are paying attention to what Obama is doing. New taxes are appearing EVERYWHERE in every state. Teh deficit is about to bankrupt us. The dollar is on the verge of having no real value. Unemployment is at its highest point since 1983 and rising. New jobs ARE NOT being created anywhere except in government jobs and the health care industry, the one industry they are hell bent on taking over for the government.

This regime and his czars and community activists are all about one thing POWER.
WAKE UP PEOPLE

Darlene   November 12th, 2009 2:18 pm ET

Oh my gosh Levi...don't go to Thanksgiving at the Palins...they are liable to EAT YOU for dinner instead of the turkey. I thought she liked drama ...cause she can sure enough stir it up!

Johnny B   November 12th, 2009 2:17 pm ET

Wait a minute, is this a change in tune for Sarah Palin? What happened to the Liberal Media being out to get her? Now the Katie Couric interview during the campaign was a "bad interview"? Which is it? A bad interview or Liberal Media Bias? Flip flop, flip flop.

Karen   November 12th, 2009 2:16 pm ET

SHe's not into drama? Death Panels? Stepping down before her first term of governor is up? Missing all kinds of engagements?

Yeah, right.

Jeff in Virginia   November 12th, 2009 2:16 pm ET

Palin is "not really into the drama?"

wow. i'm used to politicians who lie. this is just too far. Palin takes the drama all the way back to how it was in high school!

Phil   November 12th, 2009 2:15 pm ET

. . . just go away . . . pretty please? . . .

Carol   November 12th, 2009 2:14 pm ET

This from the Queen of Drama. Please!

Nancy Harrison   November 12th, 2009 2:14 pm ET

If Palin was truly not "looking for drama" she wouldn't be parading her sorry behind in front of television every opportunity she gets. And the media is just as much to blame as she is. I don't really believe that anyone really gives a rat's behind what she thinks. She is such a moron and so full of herself that she believes all of us are as dumb as she is. Let's get over Palin and put her in the garbage dump where she belongs. I for one am sick and tired of her face and her stupid and innane comments.

Terry from West Texas   November 12th, 2009 2:14 pm ET

To the extent that this is a reflection of Palin's true feelings, she is being quite gracious, given their history. I had underestimated her at least in this one area. She's still a Conservative, and that disqualifies her from any elected position in my opinion. I wonder if we are seeing some personal growth? I hope so.

Deborah Alfano from PA   November 12th, 2009 2:13 pm ET

Sarah is a mover and shaker. I think she is worth a second look by the media and I am happy she is getting more of a fair shake this time out. She has a voice that strikes a cord in my heart since she is a successful, working woman with family.

mark   November 12th, 2009 2:13 pm ET

wow, she looked right into oprahs eyes and lied to america again, i hope to god the finally gets called on the carpet for this, but i bet oprah didnt have the guts to ask tough questions and then follow up, sad

Carla   November 12th, 2009 2:13 pm ET

Sarah Palin is a class act!!

Stay-strong...going rogue   November 12th, 2009 2:12 pm ET

What the country needs now is a strong woman just like Sarah to lead
our COUNTRY out of the wilderness we are in......Sarah Palin....go

"2012" the majority is behind you..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Julie   November 12th, 2009 2:12 pm ET

I can still smack the managers of the McCain campaign for putting this shrill woman on the Republican ticket last year. She doesn't seem to know that her 15 minutes of fame are over.

Ed, Santa Fe, NM   November 12th, 2009 2:12 pm ET

"Because of course you want – he is a part of the family and you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing. And he needs that, too."

The moron still can't utter a simple, declarative sentence....

Maybe Levi doesn't WANT to be part of Palin's dysfunctional family. Can anyone imagine dealing wit this ditzoid Barbie on a daily basis?

landscapebear   November 12th, 2009 2:10 pm ET

of course they want the drama...it sells her stupid book.

Sniffit   November 12th, 2009 2:08 pm ET

That reminds me, I got to hurry up and run out and get my popcorn...I don't want to miss one minute of this show...my two favorite people in the whole world at the same time on my TV! I'm soooooo excited!!!

PT   November 12th, 2009 2:08 pm ET

Go home and take care of your baby.

Skee   November 12th, 2009 2:08 pm ET

You gotta be kidding.....!

Sarah Palin is saying that Levi is still part of the FAMILY......?

You would really think after Sarah Palins supporters heres this, that this should be EVIDENSE of her continual LYING.......!

I'm sure Oprah knew she was lying......

And to think that Sarahs supporters backed "Joe Wilson" with the you lie outburst at a sitting President of the United States is just amazing.......

And don't get me started on the "Were not into Drama" comment......!

laughing in alaska   November 12th, 2009 2:05 pm ET

has anyone noticed that Palin's book is selling for only $9.00 on Amazon while the Sarah Palin Coloring and Activity Book is selling for $12.00! $3.00 MORE! I just love that!

chelle   November 12th, 2009 2:04 pm ET

Oh please the campaign staff had no choice! A vice-presidential candidate should be able (and has to) to do interviews!!! They sure as heck limited who she talked to though!

Larry S   November 12th, 2009 2:03 pm ET

Come on liberals . . . here is another chance to show your hatrid and lack of intelligence . . . Sarah has more class than most and you are too interested in hate and worry about her abiility to see the real world. But still provide all of the hatrid you can . . . it continues to prove the type of people that are liberals.

hongli   November 12th, 2009 2:03 pm ET

Sarah palin is a cold blooded liar, and I was always told by my parents that a liar is a thief. Go figure !!! I guess you will be hearing from Levi very soon on this subject on the air and television.

William   November 12th, 2009 2:02 pm ET

When will this silly woman and her dysfunctional family go away? If the Republicans in this country, with all their blather about morality and family values, nominate this know-nothing as their presidential candidate, it will only prove what many of us have long known: they are hypocrites, who have nothing to offer but hot wind. Certainly the GOP leadership understands that putting Sad Sarah on the ticket is a losing proposition and that to put her at the top of the ticket is tantamount to handing the election over to a Democrat or independent. One cannot win an election with only 30% of the electorate backing your candidate.

midwest liberal   November 12th, 2009 2:01 pm ET

"...Palin said she and her family want to make peace with Johnston..." Well of COURSE she does! That way he would be less likely to spill the beans. DUH! This woman fools no one.

Josh   November 12th, 2009 2:01 pm ET

We all should have known long ago that she was in this for the money – and she's taking it and running with it. Go, Baby Bo. Take those Dumb Right Wing Nuts who really believed you were qualified to be the VP of this country – take their monies and run back to Wasila.

Democrat in MD (CNN please post. Thank you!)   November 12th, 2009 2:01 pm ET

Yeah,,,she only wants to "make peace" with Levi so he won't spill any more REALLY dirty secrets about her!

Vets4Obama   November 12th, 2009 2:00 pm ET

"It's lovely to think that he would ever even consider such a thing," Palin told Winfrey. "Because of course you want – he is a part of the family and you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing. And he needs that, too."

I agree, he needs it. And I'm no supporter of Levi, but I think he needs to be with people that have some class, and are not pathological liars. That would elimanate Sarah from being in attendance.

suresh   November 12th, 2009 1:57 pm ET

That is nothing but an offer of bribe to Johnston to keep his mouth shut.. Palin knows that he can damage her image of a wholesome family lady.

Lisa - St. Louis MO   November 12th, 2009 1:57 pm ET

Sarah Pain??? Not into DRAMA??

Wow, that is rich...
