Schmidt calls Palin claims 'total fiction'

WASHINGTON (CNN) - John McCain's former presidential campaign manager Steve Schmidt is the latest McCain adviser to cry foul over accusations Sarah Palin has penned in her yet to be released memoir "Going Rogue."

Excerpts obtained by The Huffington Post characterize Schmidt in an unfavorable light, particularly in reference to the prank phone call Palin received from someone pretending to be French President Nicolas Sarkozy. "Right away, the phones started ringing," Palin writes. "One of the first calls was Schmidt, and the force of his screaming blew my hair back. 'How can anyone be so stupid?! Why would the president of France call a vice presidential candidate a few days out?!'"

In a telephone conversation with CNN's John King, Schmidt said how he is described and portrayed in the book is "fanciful. [And] total fiction."

In the excerpts, Palin also claims Schmidt tried to put her on a strict eating regimen, and in a conversation with Randy Scheunemann, a McCain foreign policy adviser, he had blamed the campaigns problems on Palin's "postpartum depression."

"Schmidt started in again, telling Randy what an awful pick I was - the "postpartum" problems, the wardrobe "scandal," "legal exposure" for Todd on Troopergate, whatever he meant by that," Palin writes according to the published excerpts.

In October, during The Atlantic magazine's First Draft of History Conference, Schmidt predicted to CNN's John King that he would be portrayed as "anti-rogue in the running of the campaign."

The scary thing is that the true conservative purist believers in the GOP will continue to support Palin regardless of her obvious flaws.

Don't worry, Schmidt, we all (Republicans included) know that Sarah is lying, but the Republicans will keep on using her because she generates a lot of money for their party.

This clown is trying to cover his own butt for running such a sorry campaign that helped King Obama get elected. He needs to shut up and go away.

I am a liberal pretending to support Palin in other posts. I like to see the republicans radicalized. They will never ever get into power with someone like Palin running them.

Schmidt was one of those advisers that was undermining her during the campaign. Oh you poor Liberals, you just have a nervous breakdown everytime you hear the name Sara Palin. I think it is hard for you to accept that someone can actually think on their own!

I see the deranged Sarah-haters are out in force.

Her book sales will leave Obama's ghostwritten (Bill Ayers wrote Dreams of my Father) pack of lies in the dust.

    SHE'LL BE RICH!

Once a liar, always a liar – and Ms. Palin is a proven liar. Remember the supposed selling of the plane on ebay? Remember "Thanks but no thanks". Shes a pathological liar. It's a shame she chose to publish a gotcha revenge type book instead of something serious related to policy. Oh, that's right, she couldn't do policy because she doesn't have a clue. If she thinks this will lauch her into the white house, she's more deluded than I originally thought. This is tabloid nonsesnse.

Good lord, just imagine the world of hurt we'd be in if she and gramps had won the election!

But, it's called going rogue. What's the matter folks. This is Sarah Palin. What else you folks were expecting. Don't be deceived. We know the lady. If we know her in her capacity and she still stuns us, I will be deceived. Let Palin go rogue.

I believe Sarah Palin over anyone in the McCain camp. I am a huge fan of Palin's, and now I am looking forward to 2010/2012 with her leading the way.

Who knows, by then we may have have 5 terrorists wearing " Thank You Obama" walking the streets of NYC after Obama/Holder potentially botch these trials.

Even Palin haters should know she would never have committed this level of folly that may, as Rev. Wright says, come home to roost in NYC.
She wouldn't sell her soul to the likes of Soros, ACLU, and SEIU...

We watched it unfold right before our eyes. Steve Schmidt showed total incompetence in his handling of the McCain/Palin campaign. His botched unveiling of Palin is notorious and was at the time infuriating. Anyone watching that campaign could se how badly Palin was handled by Schmidt and the campaign. Now he ducking for cover. Shameless.

I won't be buying EX-governor Palin's memoir on "victimhood." However, I have purchased the well-written account of the campaign titled "Sarah From Alaska", co-authored by Scott Conroy and Shushanna Walshe.

I highly recommend it if you want to get an inside view from two embedded reporters, one from CBS and the other from Fox News.

The authors do their best to be fair to Palin while at the same time showing what they call her "infallibility syndrome" when Palin shows tendencies "to refuse to acknowledgte any error in judgment and to offer instead a version of events that could easily be proved false."

If McCain had done the required vetting in the first place, none of this would be happening now.

Mrs. Palin did the world a favor in getting the book published. Mrs. Palin can only hurt how she is percieved by the public(The normal people) with a book. I do not believe she is intelligent enough to have a meaningfull positive effect on any one person, for she does not appear to have the mental where-withall to be any thing else but stupid. Sad, but the truth is some people are just blind to their own stupidity; for example, Goerge W. Bush jr.

facts are facts are facts.palin energized the stale and boring mccain campaign like no vp candidate has ever done.tens of thousands, possibly millions voted for the ticket BECAUSE of palin. their loss was attributable to a very weak candidate going against a well organized and well financed campaign.
