No media allowed at Palin speech in Missouri

Palin is speaking in Missouri in December.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Reporters won't be allowed to cover Sarah Palin's convocation speech at the College of the Ozarks in Missouri on December 2, according to the school.

Elizabeth Andrews, the college's communications director, called the decision "mutual."

"This was per the agreement that the College of the Ozarks had when had when we booked governor Palin for the convocation," she told CNN. "This didn't come from our end or theirs. It was a mutual consent kind of thing."

Andrews said the agreement is not unusual for the school, a Christian college in southern Missouri. She said past events with prominent speakers have also been closed to the press.

"This isn't the first time this has happened," she explained.

Free tickets were distributed when the appearance was first announced in November, but were quickly snatched up. Before the speech, Palin will be signing copies of "Going Rogue" in Springfield, Missouri, about an hour away from the college.

It obviously came from one side or the other...you don't just close a speech as a matter of policy...or does the school have something to hide? Not that we even care....Palin will talk about her 'faith and values" and how America is on the wrong path, and only she has the insight to lead us to the light.

I guess that some colleges don't consider freedom to question opinions. I always thought that College of the Ozarks was a very progressive institution. I hope that the students get the opportunity to question Ms Palin on some of her stances on issues. Of course we will never know will we, but then I am sure that she will truthfully reveal all that was said during the speaking engagement.

Somebody give Sarah Palin a "be quite pill." She is ranting and raving about how bad she is/have been treated. Sarah, you put yourself out there with the big dogs and not realizing that you are just a small pup.

If you would just give correct and accurate facts and not add so much of you into what you are saying, then you may become more comfortable talking with people who are well informed about different issues.

You are not ready for the political stage and should have opted for a more quite life back in Alaska, but you made enemies there as well. Its time for you to accept and acknowledge your own faults before you start accusing others of it. Everyone is not out to destroy you. Only you can do that.

This is so transparent. The big secret will make more news than if it was Y'all come.

So bascially this nitwit is doing all she can to censor coverage of her so she is not portrayed in a bad light before she runs for President in 2012. Just remember folks this is what her presidency will look like. She will censor the media if she actually manages to win.

Of course the media isn't allowed. How can she lie without being fact-checked if the media is there?

Palin speaking behind closed doors to a fundamentalist evangelical christian bible camp moronically calling itself the "College of the Ozarks" and she wonders why the country thinks she's just a trailer park hillbilly from Alaska.

This woman is delusional and absolutely clueless...

I just love this women. As VP nominee for the failed run at the white house, she is the defacto leader of her party. Keep up the good work Palin

Palin continues that she is strong and has absolutely no hesitancy in standing up and talking on that role.

The best thing she ever did was bump of that Dede Scozzafava character in Dede’s bit for a seat in congress. I heard Dede talk recently and she was surprisingly impressive – smart, clear point of view, articulate and she radiated confidence and maturity … I hate her!!!

Dede clearly has the potential to be a national political figure for the Republicans and as a moderate she could have attracted independents to that increasingly shrinking Party. Thank gooooooooodness Republicans are repulsed by unattractive intelligent women and instead embrace empty head, pretty ones.

I love the way the headlines for this story make it sound like she's hiding something. Personally, I think she should invite FOX news, and disallow the other media outlets, then compare the coverage of that to the coverage of The White House's decision, last month, to omit FOX News. The travesty here is in the soft bias in media coverage.

All the better for her to spew her radical Fundamentalist nuttiness to her target audience without the scrutiny of the press.

Good. No more media for this crazy lady. The Newsweek cover isn't sexist...unless the cover of Obama in his shorts was sexist as well. There should be a complete media ban on this woman...who cares about her new fiction book?!?!

You go girl! I admire you and your fortitude. I can't believe how the press treats you; but then they are the far left press. They much rather admire Ms.Dunn. I can hardly wait to read your book. It is in the mail according to Amazon. Hope you come to California so I can see you.

Hey CNN, Isn't it getting a bit over done with the hype and coverage of the Alaskan Air Head?
You are looking more and more like a hen pecked loser jumping at every word the half baked politician utters.
Your not invited to the event but give her the publicity anyway.

She is bringing all of these bad comments on herself. I think she has lost it. My question is what the heck is she doing anyway??????????

I also feel that she has to be center of attraction and this is why she is doing this. Why doesn't she just go back to Alaska and try and live a normal life. If she can. Who knows maybe they do not want her back there.

Does she realize what she is doing to her family?? Making them to shame.
And trashing the father of her grandchild. Woman you lost so leave us alone. I know I should not want to be a repulican at this time. GOP stop her some how and since her home.

Im really start to believe that she likes this attention from the media. And i dont think the Republicans candiates even know how to handle her because they knows she is popular within her own party.

It would almost be worth her being elected president in 2016, just to watch the tragedy unfold from the relative safety of Europe.

This story is just a thinly veiled setup for detractors to criticize her for not having media present, and supporters to rally about how inspiring she is. I'm not falling for it. Sarah Palin is now a professional speaker and self-publicist. A speaker speaking isn't news.

Why does Sarah Palin have her own section on the CNN Politics page, right next to the War in Afghanistan and Health Care Reform? She isn't even remotely important compared to those issues! Why not a prominant section for more relevant figures such as McCain, Huckabee, Romney, or Steele? Heck, why not the PRESIDENT? Last I checked, CNN wasn't supposed to bet E! Politics Edition.

No Media coverage. Does this mean that we'll all be spared from Media speculation about the speech? One can only pray that that will be the case.

What would happen if the "Media" were to really leave her along? I think her value as a speaker, etc would do down,
