(CNN) - Sarah Palin's image is everywhere as she launches a highly-anticipated book tour this week, but the former Alaska governor is unhappy with at least one media organization's depiction of her.
Palin took aim at Newsweek's eye-catching cover this week that shows the former vice presidential candidate in her running outfit - an image that was apparently lifted from a Runner's World photo shoot months ago. Writing on her Facebook page Monday night, Palin said the depiction is flat out "sexist, and oh-so-expected."
"The choice of photo for the cover of this week's Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this 'news' magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant," Palin wrote. "The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist, and oh-so-expected by now."
"If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention – even if out of context," Palin also said.
The photo is accompanied by text that states "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Sarah? She's bad news for the GOP - and for everybody else too."
Palin has held back few punches at the media in the initial stages of her publicity tour. The former governor slammed the Associated Press for its recent fact check that took issue with several of the memoir's contentions and, in her Oprah appearance that aired Monday, Palin slammed the way the media treated her family during the campaign.
The Alaska Republican also doesn't hold back in her book, writing at one point, "I had been out of journalism for a long time, and it was pretty obvious the rules had changed. I felt sick about the depths to which some in the press had apparently sunk, not because it was unfair to me and John, but because it was unfair to the American electorate."
UPDATE: Newsweek editor Jon Meacham is defending the image the magazine chose for its cover.
"We chose the most interesting image available to us to illustrate the theme of the cover, which is what we always try to do," he told CNN Tuesday. "We apply the same test to photographs of any public figure, male or female: does the image convey what we are saying? That is a gender-neutral standard."

Republicans always like to blame the media for their own failings. If she spent half as much energy on real problems that effect "most" Americans (the media is not one of them). People like her feed off the media attention to give them a pulpit to preach jibberish.
As a kid I enjoyed watching Scooby Doo, which always ended with the bad guy proclaiming "I could have ruled the world, if it wasn't for those blasted kids!" Seems some things never change.
For the first time in my life I agree with her. That picture was a low blow and meant to make her look silly. That being said, please stop running stories about her, please.
Spin Negative all you would like. She is coming and represents lot's of people in the way she feels about current issues. Wonder if she will bow and lapdog to leaders of other countries? I doubt it, just like she will not bow and scrap to the biased media that exists today.
Did someone take that photo without her knowing it? Was it retouched, doctored, etc? Otherwise, as usual she provoked what she is now accusing: She posed in a "sexist" way in a photoshoot to extend her "15 months of fame." "Trailer trash" doesn't quite get to the heart of it.

Wow, I never knew Newsweek was so biased. I have to agree that I don't think she belongs in the running for president, but wow. Tell us what you really think.
Actually I think if she were nominated, that would guarantee Obama's re-election. She can't win and God help us if she did.

So what's the problem with the photo? She's the one who did the sexist pose. and I don't see what's sexist... it's not like she's dressed up as a homemaker, and even if she was, it was her own doing.
Palin loves attention, she's just the person to expose herself at Mardi Gras and scream "Don't look at me".

what a pity that a publication would sink so low. Guess we write them off our Christmas list as well. It is not about Sarah Palin – its about decency and fair reporting which they know nothing about. What a sad state of affairs for our country.

That cover page is exactly the reason I do not read the socialist, communist anti-American leaning magazines like Time and Newsweek. Neither publication is a news publication, they are tabloid trash..

Just because you are portrayed in a cute little running outfit, does not make this an attack on you for being a woman. Would they ever do this to Hillary? No. Pelosi? No. It is not your womanhood being attacked-it is you. It has to do with your lack of intelligence and your lack of knowledge of the world around you and policy. Ok, If you don't want photos on magazines covers that appear to be sexist, don't pose in your running clothes/short shorts with your hand on your hip while leaning on an American flag.
She doesn't seem to have a problem with Fox's media being biased toward her. She wants to have it both ways. Without her train wreck, what is there of her to report? Her rambling, indecipherable populist garbage? Her book which is more of the same, with added self promotion? I believe the Newsweek put her best asset forward with that cover. And when was she ever a journalist? She covered local sports.

As far as I can see, and my vision is 20/20, the only thing Sarah has going for her is her looks. If I were her, I would have put a nude picture of me on the cover of "Going Rogue". Then I would say...."Please judge this book by it's cover", it's the only good thing about it!
