Obama won't read Palin's book

Obama said he probably won't ready Palin's new book.
Obama said he probably won't ready Palin's new book.

(CNN) – Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to buy Sarah Palin's just-released memoir, but don't count President Obama among them.

In an interview with CNN's Ed Henry in China, the president acknowledged Wednesday he would not be reading the highly-anticipated memoir by his potential 2012 opponent.

"I probably won't, but I don't get a chance to read things other than briefing books very often these days anyway," he said.

Obama also suggested he views the former Alaska governor as a credible candidate should she decide to seek the presidency in a couple of years.

"You know, she obviously has a big constituency in the Republican Party," he said. "You know, there a lot of people who are excited by her."

But when it comes to the 2012 race, Obama didn't discount the possibility he may sit out on a reelection bid.

"You know, if - if I feel like I've made the very best decisions for the American people and three years from now I look at it and, you know, my poll numbers are in the tank and because we've gone through these wrenching changes, you know, politically, I'm in a tough spot, I'll - I'll feel all right about myself," Obama told CNN's Ed Henry during an interview in China.

"I said to myself very early on, even when I started running for office, I don't want to be making decisions based on getting reelected, because I think the challenges that America faces right now are so significant," the president also said. "Obviously, if I make those decisions and I think that I'm moving the country on the right direction economically, in terms of our security interests, our foreign policy, I'd like to think that those policies are continued because they're not going to bear fruit just in four years."

But in the next breath the president quickly sounded like someone who would relish taking his case to the American people in 2012, saying he's tackling big issues like health care and Iran that he's confident will bear fruit in the future.

The last president not to seek reelection was Lyndon Johnson in 1968.

Obama is so right. He has so many briefings to read, no time for absurd.
I rather read Mickey Mouse than a Palin fiction story and make her rich.

So, is this a prediction that everything will be falling apart these next 4 years and then making a grand exit? Where is the confidence and leadership that most of us voted for?

What a great president we have!

Remember that speech near the end of the movie An American President with Michael Douglas? It's like he said - he has a job to do, it takes serious people to do it. We've got a serious president.

It is so good to be able to be proud of our president again! We couldn't do that for 8 years.

It is so good to be able to be proud to be an American again because we have a president who is a compliment to the American people, not an embarrassment like we had for 8 years.

    Thank you, President Obama!

This man is absolutely brilliant. And I have said for weeks that I do not expect him to seek re-election, no matter his poll numbers in 2 years. He is a family man, and will be happy to return to Chicago, teach, write books, and advise the next President. He has a solid agenda for the US, and wonderful ideas to make us better and stronger, but politics is not his driving force...helping people is. That's what Republicans don't understand, because they are all about power and wealth for themselves.
No matter how they earned their wealth (or did not, in the case of many legacy Republicans) they do not see any reason to help anyone else. That is the difference in the parties: respecting the right of everyone to be healthy and make a living, versus the I-have-it, you-can't-take-it mentality of Republicans.

If Obama cares about his reelection bid, he'd have done what Reagan had done... damaging our economy in the long run but looked good in the shortrun to boost his votes. Homeless people, poor people rarely vote.... and he's helping them, and giving them hands... if these people don't show up to vote for him, and his tax reversal on the rich will kill his election bid. But that's fine, because I can guarantee you, the next Prez, even if he/she is a GOP candidate, will not lower tax. Because we're in too much debt, and the only way is to pay for them in the long run. We're paying for the errors of Ronald Reagan, a little of Clinton, and a lot of George Bush.

It appears that Americans would rather have idiots run this country than
an intelligent man. Never mind the idiots are the ones who put us into this mess. I pity the American people. We stood by and watch the idiots ruin the country for 8 years, but we can't stand united to see it cleaned up for the next 8 years.

You can't dig a hole for 8 years and expect to refill it in one day. Wake up American, weather you like our President or not.

    Peace out.

Obama is leaving the door open to run or not to run. This health care issue, while sounding all warm and fuzzy could just as easily back fire with the tremendous cost to the taxpayer at a time when jobs are so critical and they are not being generated. That could have a most negative affect for re-election. I think he knows that.

This man is a true leader. He is doing what is right, not what is politically expedient. And doing so in the face of a belligerent unthinking hostile opposition bent on nothing other than thwarting his every move regardless of the cost to the nation.

Why would such a man read the palin book? It would be like asking a universoity professor to read middle school essay - a total waste of time. He would get better information ad more relevant information from reading 17 magazine.

I think it is pretty clear at this point Palin's book will be a poorly written piece of fiction (for those Palin fans, fiction means "not fact based." Non-fiction is when a book is based on fact. I know a lot of third graders get tripped up on that.)

CNN's Ed Henry's a very short brain. What sort of a question in an interview to his President is whether he'll read Palin's book about to be published. In a moment when the president Obama needs all the calmnes and help to make his negotiation with China. Ed makes you think he's a gossiper. Media should worry about more needed information. There are a lot much more interesting news for a real newsman. Ed looks to care more to sell papers.

Iran has played you like a piano. Just talk and adjusting your deadlines show you are weak and if they could strike us they would because they know you won't do anything about it. What is your position when they attack Israel? I know you will make a big speech saying we won't put up with it. Good thing Israel has the guts to back them off, cause you won't. President Obama has had multiple challenges to work through since taking office from the Bush Administration. Anyone that expects him to fix 8 years of Bush policies in less than a year are asking far too much of any human being. He's working on one solution at a time and fixing what needs to be fixed.

I find it deplorable that so many American's are already upset with this man. Quick fixes during a recession are not possible. Getting your wars dealt with in less than a year is not possible. Getting health care for everyone is not possible in less than a year. Give this man time to fix the ills of your country.

As for Sarah Palin's new book – it belongs in the round filing cabinet as I've said before. Packed full of her lies and her one sided beliefs. I won't say more on the subject of a person that belongs back at home taking care of her family instead of spewing forth garbage verbally and in a written word.

Kudos to Obama for talking the straight talk still.

I can't say as much for any President since FDR. If President Obama leaves after four years we can be rest assured that America will truly be a better place than what existed when he took the helm as President when he leaves.

However, I'm already casting my vote for Obama/Biden 2012.

Then maybe after reading his review, it would help me make a decision as to whether or not I would want to read it. I would not invest in this book until it is fully fact checked. Palin has a fantastic record of lying and blaming everyone else but herself, so why would anyone purchase a book by a known liar ? I find her interesting, but could never trust what she says without fact checking. If I have to fact check a book before buying it, I simply would not buy it. There are far more important things to spend money on then a book from one of Americas best known liars.I am sure Obama will be blasted for not reading her book, and he would be blasted if he was to say that he would read her book.My take is if you have any appetite for the truth, you would waste your hard earned money feeding this celebrity by buying her book of blame.

The reading of Palin's so called memoirs is a non-isssue for the
president...and even to ask the question is ludicrous as far as Im
concerned. With the many issues, problems and foolish antics that
parade around him he should continue to stay focus on the task at
hand....Im quite certain if the situation was reversed and Palin was
asked would she read Obama's memoirs she would have plenty

concern and so far he is headed in the right direction in correcting

That's a wise thing to say, for a President. He's trying to make decisions based on what is right for the country, not on what will get him re-elected.

Reminds me of one of the most thought-provoking lines from the movie "The American President" starring Michael Douglas - "I was so busy trying to keep my job that I forgot to DO my job." I think this is endemic in Washington...people deciding thing on what will get them re-elected, and not what is best. Both parties...

For far too many politicans, getting elected means immediately thinking about how to get re-elected. A former U.S. Representative from Oregon told me every politican who wants to be re-elected must compromise – the goals and ideals that got them elected will mostly likely not get them re-elected. They must settle for the quiet middle of the road if they want to keep their jobs. It seems most decisions that should be made for the good of all, are made for the purpose of re-election.

It seems likely to me that 2010 will bring the Republican party back into power in a big, big way. Thereafter, the political landscape will likely be so devastatingly acrimonious that Congress will accomplish absolutely nothing. Obama's chances of re-election in 2012 will be slim and slimmer as we grind deeper into economic decline and as the right-wing hate machine rolls ever forward in its control of public debate.

I see no reason why President Obama would read Sarah Palin's book, which is full of lies. She attacked him during the campaign and still has the nerve to second-guess him, as unknowledgeable as she is about anything substantive. She is a total waste of the air that she breathes. And, no, I am not afraid of her. If the Republican Party wants her to run in 2012 and she takes it on, I say go for it. She would never be able to handle all of the intricacies of a presidency. I hope President Obama does run for a second term, but if he doesn't, I would surely understand why. This country has a pocket of racist, nasty, violent people who are not ready for someone who is as intelligent as he is. They are afraid of people who are wise and kind at the same time. And, I can just imagine what Michelle is saying behind closed doors. After all, she is still a Black woman who loves her man and to hear the uglines spewing from the small pockets of this country can not make her happy. I am sure that she would be happy to go back to being a normal couple with a couple of lovely children.

The more people make that connection, the worse off the GOP chances will be in 2012 because only the die hard faithful is unwilling to stop thinking that Palin is not an air head. The rest of us know she is from the very first time she open here mouth.

And by the way CNN, I was wondering seriously why you keep talking about Palin on your TICKER , which can be correctly be renamed the PALIN TICKER,(despite the avalance of criticism) and I have figured it out. You dont care about your readers relatie to their comments. You want us all to come on here to talk about Sarah. In your corporate mind, she is the bait that keeps the fish coming. And who turn around and sell those numbers to your advertisers by saying...see...we have a lot of people who visit or website. Buy an advertising spot. Clever, but every day you do this CNN, the "most trusted name in the news" because less and less trustworthy. So carry on with the PALIN TICKER at your own bottom line. Some of us are not fools.

Mr President, our country cannot afford another term of disasterous leadership like we had with Bush or that we would have with another republican. You're on the right track, the economy will turn we'll be fine. You've done positive more in 10 months than Bush did in 8 years.
It's good to look up to a president, I missed the pleasure for 8 years.

I'm with President Obama. I don't have time to read such drivel. It's all a fiction anyway and probably ghost-wriiten. WHat is there to write about? Her life has, in reality, be unremarkable. It took her five schools to get a simple degree, she was mayor of a small Alaskan berg (where she caused a lot of problems), she was governor of Alaska (a job she abandoned to pursue her unrealistic political ambitions), and was tapped to be a VP candidate only to counter the Hillary factor. This last move is widely considered the biggest political blunder by a presidential campaign in decades. Sarah Palin is no "rogue;" She's a blithering idiot, who has much too high an opinion of herself. She's proved already that she has no intention of serving all the people of this country, but only those few who share her sick, twisted and unbelievably narrow-minded worldview.

The notion that Obama would sit out an election is funny. He craves the limelight light a tabloid celebrity. He gave more speeches that he had days in office for the first 4 months of his tenure.

Secondly, how EXACTLY is he tacking the Iranian issue...sticking his fingers in his ears and chanting la, la, la la??? I can't think of a single success on that front.

What kind of a hackneyed "news" article is this.

Splashy headline: OBAMA WON'T READ PALIN'S BOOK!!!
Truth of matter: Obama demurs on stupid question.

Sensationalistic claim: OBAMA MIGHT NOT RUN FOR REELECTION!!!
Truth of matter: Obama said he makes decisions on the basis of what's best, not on whether it will win him reelection.

How did Sarah even manage to write a book, given that she doesn't read books? By the way, to address the predictable posts by conservatives that are sure to be here... we're not scared of Palin... only 30% of people think she's qualified and only 15% of people care about her book. He's too busy spending us into bankruptcy. He's on course to outspend Bush and that's some feat. The U.S. accumulated $6 Trillion in debt from 1791-2002. From 2002-2009 the accumulated debt isnow $12 Trillion. The debt doubled in just seven years. Does this explain anything to the people who are confused by the TEA Party movement. The debt is forecast to be $14 Trillion in 2010. This is insane and very, very dangerous. The U.S. government is largely responsible for the bubbles that are bringing down our country. First the S&L bubble, then the dot com bubble, then the housing bubble that almost took us down. Now they are building another bubble that will kill the dollar and ruin our financial condition beyond repair. Spending money we don't have at this rate is irresponsible, period.

Why is Obama quoted in paragraphs, with every "you know" included, while Bush was quoted in sound bites that left out much of the really bad grammar and generally questionable statements he made? Is this a media bias? Or just a level of expectation being reset?

Based on what Obama has done since he's gotten into office, I hope that he decides NOT to run again.

Unfortunately, because of his massive ego, he will continue to hijack the American dream, grow government, debt and ineptitude and ultimately scar our country for years to come. But, the US generally recovered from Carter. We will also recover when Obama is voted out.

He will continue to tell the voting American Public he's on their side and is pushing for WHAT THEY WANT. Belive this! Well, the dummies that voted him in will get just what they were looking for. INEXPERIENCE. We will be mirede in debt forever. A new President and administration as well as – TERM LIMITS are what we will need to get us out of this mess. That doesn't surprise anyone. I wonder if he read the book Chavez gave him? Does he take time to read even a single Scripture? He did claim to be a Christian, didn't he? Whether Sarah Palin does or does not run for President in 2012, he needs to hand over the reins to someone who cares about the country, which he obviously does not. If he did, he wouldn't be knocking out the foundations of this country they way he has been doing in only 1 year. Even his own party appears to be having reservations at the point.

WOW, this is exactly what drives the Republican Party, everything they say and do is based on the next election and has nothing to do with the people they are suppose to serve.....!

President Obama is a rare breed, he's the exact opposite of a Republican....

If only the Republican followers cared for one second about the integrity of their party, they would leave that party in droves....

I am still unable to understand how the woman who was unable to prove that she was an intelligent and competent Vice Presidential candidate, is being considered a strong candidate for the 2012 Presidential campaign. A Palin administration, I'm afraid to say, could actually make one miss the Bush years! Of course, just like with Bush, much of that would depend on who her VP was.

Why would an extremely intelligent Constitutional scholar waste his time reading a book Palin didn't write and is nothing but whining and blaming others for all her miserable failures. Sarah Palin is a nobody desperately trying to stay in the media that she supposedly hates so much. The only people who like her as stupid as she is.

President Obama has serious issues to finish handling and doesn't have time for a tabloid self-serving book about an extremist nutjob.
