Giuliani spokeswoman: No decision yet.

(CNN) - A spokeswoman for Rudy Giuliani says that the former New York City mayor has not made up his mind about running for governor next year.

Maria Comella's comments were in response to report Thursday in the New York Times that Giuliani had decided not to run for New York governor in 2010, according to people who have been told of his decision.

"Rudy has a history of making up his own mind and has no problem speaking it. When Mayor Giuliani makes a decision about serving in public office, he will inform New Yorkers on his own," said Comella in a statement.

Recent polls of New York State voters indicate that Giuliani holds a wide lead over former Rep. Rick Lazio, the only Republican to have declared a gubernatorial bid, in a hypothetical 2010 GOP primary match-up.

According to the surveys, Giuliani has a double-digit advantage over incumbent Democratic Gov. David Paterson in a hypothetical general election faceoff. But the polls suggest that New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who has not indicated if he wants to run for governor, tops Giuliani by 10-12 points. Cuomo also easily beats Paterson in a possible Democratic primary, according to those surveys.

The polls indicate that New Yorkers have an overall favorable opinion of the former New York City mayor.

Sunday on CNN's State of the Union with John King, Giuliani said he had not yet made up his mind regarding a run. He had previously indicated that he would make a decision before the end of the year.

His spokesperson said: "Rudy has a history of making up his own mind and has no problem speaking it. When Mayor Giuliani makes a decision about serving in public office, he will inform New Yorkers on his own,"
Then why does he need a spokesperson?

Why are Americans wanting to go backwards? With the future new governor of VA who has backwards (narrow) way of thinking and then to think anyone would mention this man as a potential candidate. How quickly we forget. the narrowness of their scope (meaning if they are not bigots, they encourage these type of folk with their actions or lack of actions.)

hongli   November 19th, 2009 6:57 pm ET

Giulaini is a FRAUD.

CBR   November 19th, 2009 6:41 pm ET

What is new here. Rudy G. does have a little trouble making up his mind and remembering what he has said in the past. Just another politician biding his time and using polling to see if he should run.

If you have a good agenda then you run if you don't then keep out of the race. Your own popularity should not be the reason to run.

Bren   November 19th, 2009 6:31 pm ET

Based on the article the other day.............

It said that the Republican Cuomo was leading in the polls by 60% against the Democrat Patterson--even though he has not decided to run.

It said that Guilianni was leading over Patterson by 20%.

The other article posted on this site---said that Guilianni is supported for the Senate seat by both Republicans and Independents--leading by 14 points over the Democrat Gillibrand.

Therefore, Cuomo should run for the Governor's seat---and Guilianni should run for the Senate seat--–and then there will be 2 Democrats sent to the unemployment lines in 2010!!!!

Gorko   November 19th, 2009 6:20 pm ET

I think (911!) you have to have a mind before you can make it up. I think (911!) it's time for that little ratman to crawl back into his (911) hole.

José   November 19th, 2009 6:11 pm ET

Of COURSE he hasnt made up his mind! His the biggest FLIP FLOPPER of the Republican party this WEEK! Remember how he endorsed the domestic trial of Moussawi? You know, the 20th highjacker? But that was when Busch was in office. Now that someone he doesnt like is in office, suddenly he doesnt think America has the ability to try a terrorist, and further calls it a GIFT to the terrorsist? What a political JOKE. At first, I didnt dislike him. Now I see right through him. I am an independent in Florida, so my vote could very well make or break the next president, however, anyone who votes for this deutch mark is a complete and ignunt foo. Chile plee! FLIP FLOP FLIP FLOP FLIP FLOP!

cocopial   November 19th, 2009 5:53 pm ET

Let CNN keep giving the Republicans false hope that they could win, I will be laughing 2012.

Darth Vadik, CA   November 19th, 2009 5:49 pm ET

Have they counted all of his votes in Florida yet, I thought that was supposed to be his battlefield?

BTW I loved that news conference of his "giving up my campaigh" speech. That huge dome of his glistening with sweat, his stumbling mumbling and Judy crying her eyes out in the background because she couldn't get extra two seats on the plane for her purse....

FORMER REPUBLICAN   November 19th, 2009 5:49 pm ET

New Yorkers are tough & intelligent bunch. the julio scum bag's
support of another equally mindless moron, Pallin, left New Yorkers
just embarrassed & humiliated for having elected him in the first place.
You can bet your last, hard earned, dollar, they will not repeat their
mistake unless he finds a small area of bigots & morons.

Darth Vadik, CA   November 19th, 2009 5:40 pm ET

hahahhahahahahahahaha,

Yeah, he hasn't, what is next, you will tell me the sky is not blue and the water is not wet?

WOW a lot of people don't like this moron. Good.

victim of republican greed   November 19th, 2009 5:05 pm ET

One has to have a mind to be able to make it up. By the way, are the people who target and kill doctors at abortion clinics, terrorists too?

Steve, New York City   November 19th, 2009 5:00 pm ET

Yeah Guiliani – go ahead and run – and what would be your first act as governor – maybe you'll pardon your best friend "Bernard Kerik?"

Ken in NC   November 19th, 2009 4:46 pm ET

Ssomeone is saying Rudy Giuliani has not made up his mind? Next they will be trying to say he has one.

Luke Brown   November 19th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

This guy has so much baggage. Surely the NY GOP can come up with someone more credible than this.

He may be ahead in the polls now, but once she dumps $3 million in positive ads about herself, and another $3 million in negative ones about him ... it will be all over.

Vic of New York   November 19th, 2009 4:34 pm ET

Trust me.... There are not a whole lot of New Yorkers who are waiting with baited breath for Rudi Giuliani.

Cynthia   November 19th, 2009 4:32 pm ET

this moron is the biggest crook in NY, let him run i can't wait to see who beats the crap out of him, he is such a loser.

Perspective   November 19th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

“Rudy has a history of making up his own mind and has no problem speaking it..."

Sure, such as public divorces, Giuliani's misuse of taxpayer funds towards indescretions, and using national tragedies for his deplorable politics.

Thanks, but no thanks.

dr.mimi de la cruz   November 19th, 2009 4:29 pm ET

Let me help Juliai with his decision.
As a former New Yorker, with many relatives & friends there,
I can yell you that Juliani couldn't get elected in N.Y as the
cities dog catcher. He did his Benito Mussolini act & its old.

Al-NY,NY   November 19th, 2009 4:24 pm ET

He's a loser with a god-complex who actually thinks people believe he did what he said after 9-11. Earth to Rudy........no one believes you.

The Lonely Libertarian of Liverpool NY   November 19th, 2009 4:23 pm ET

Rudy is the very last thing NYS needs now. We need budget reduction person not political insiders owned by Corportate America.

Mary Lou Hamm   November 19th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

LOL @ Ghouliani and his lisp, gotta love him!

Zach K   November 19th, 2009 4:15 pm ET

Don't Run Mr. 9/11. Please.

You couldn't take care of a city, and you can't take care of your own state as a Senator or Governor. DON'T RUN.

K   November 19th, 2009 4:14 pm ET

What a joke, this man has attempted to make a career from the horrible trajedy of September 11th, 2001.....

It is such a disrespect for the familys of the victims, why are certain politicians so dispicable...?

This man doesn't even have a relationship with his own children, that should be a red flag for any FOOL that would vote for him.....

DickCheneyTheMadharchodh   November 19th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

A public figure who cannot make up his mind on public service is a darn useless arsehole.... send him to Guantanamo Bay alongwith Sarah

OldUncleTom   November 19th, 2009 4:07 pm ET

Ah Rudy!! Noun... Verb... 911...

Will this carry the whole state? Or will Rudy have to be content with the protection rackets... errrr.... "Security Consulting" from now on?

I don't expect him to be Kerik's roommate, but anything is possible in the public eye.

AEK   November 19th, 2009 4:03 pm ET

He's checking to see if they can do some remodeling at the governor's mansion to add all the extra space that will be required to squeeze his enormous ego in! Just sayin'...

Sgt. USMC   November 19th, 2009 4:03 pm ET

I hope he does... that way it will save the American people from having to put up with him trying to run for President. It's bad enough some less educated people support Palin.

OBAMA 2012

Sniffit   November 19th, 2009 4:02 pm ET

The guy is partisan scum. Party before country, right Captain 9-11? Careful NY or he'll destroy your state with his hypocrisy beam.

g ontario   November 19th, 2009 4:00 pm ET

this guy is really creepy

George W Bush = Worst President Ever   November 19th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

If Giuliani were smart, he would not run against Cuomo. So, that means he is sure to run.

mark   November 19th, 2009 3:50 pm ET

please save our state Rudy, patterson and the democrats have run this state into the ground!

MegNYC   November 19th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

"Overall favorable opinion of the former NYC mayor" BAH! Hilarious. I want him to run if only to give him a slap in the face of what this city and state REALLY think of him. Cuomo would blow him out of the water.

Marco V   November 19th, 2009 3:34 pm ET

Hasn't New York suffered enough?

Jill, California   November 19th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

Giuliani is a bogus individual who speaks out of both sides of his mouth.

Laverne   November 19th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

He does not stand a chance at winning. He does not want more of his dirty laudry out to dry and he darn well knows it coming. Beside Guliani may have been a patriot during the 9/11 attacks, but as a person, he sucks! He is not a really nice person and he is not what New Yorker's need or want at this time. He will probably try and use the 9/11 attacks to try and gen up support and or votes. Just another republican still trying to cash in on 9/11 and no doubt will use the old fear tactic especially with the recent news of some of the terrorist may be tried their. New Yorkers don't be fooled by this clown, it's time to move forward. Go home pig face!

csh   November 19th, 2009 3:14 pm ET

Giuliani is completely Irrelevant – He won ZERO states in his bid for the presidency last year.

Z-E-R-O.

He is an ill-tempered, crazy, cranky nutjob – even his own kids can't stand him.

Michael M, Phoenix AZ   November 19th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

Maybe Hillary will declare...Now that would take care of Guilliani wouldn't it?

Robin   November 19th, 2009 3:10 pm ET

He would win. Like it or not, he was an excellent mayor.

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   November 19th, 2009 3:09 pm ET

Cuomo is going to win hands down.

juliet hartford ct   November 19th, 2009 3:07 pm ET

what a hypocrite...speak out of 2 sides of his mouth.

Ethan   November 19th, 2009 3:04 pm ET

Noun, verb, 9/11..... GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

C Spurgeon   November 19th, 2009 3:04 pm ET

Not my business. i don't live in NY but he is not a great person. Some investigative reorters need to do their job and vet him....

Frank, Las Vegas   November 19th, 2009 3:03 pm ET

He won't announce until Cuomo does. He knows he can't beat Cuomo and doesn't want another race for him to be put in the lost column. If he really wanted to "serve" he wouldn't care who he ran against. But for Mr. a noun, a verb and 911, he doesn't really care about serving the people, it's all about himself. He should remain on the sidelines, forever.

Jeff Brown in Jersey   November 19th, 2009 3:01 pm ET

Who cares? That Jack O' Lantern doesn't have a chance of winning anything!

Jake   November 19th, 2009 2:59 pm ET

NY state can do better!
