but we are an economy based on 'flight of fancy'

    think hola hoop

the U.S. economy thrives on gadgets and impulse buying

we need to save, but telling us to save as we approach Christmas will not make the retailers happy

Sounds good, thumping my chest here; BUT there's a BIG PROBLEM. There is NOTHING to save when you have NOTHING to spend, GET IT?

    IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!

I know he didn't say that!!! It's laughable coming from the King of Spend and waste!!! What a joke. Couldn't they kept him in Asia or something? They can take Reid, Pelosi, Dodd and Frank too. Keep American Safe! Send the clowns packing!

The majority in the country no longer believe/trust/support Obama and the Democrats--his approval rating is now below 50% based on several recent polls--including Gallup, Rasmussen, and Real Clear Politics.

And, we already know what the approval/support ratings are of Pelosi, Reid, and the Democratic controlled Congress.

Once the one year mark hits of when Obama was elected--his approval/support is going to tank even more-–as the majority are no longer going to buy their excuses and "blame Bush" for all of their failures, bad decisions, policies, etc.

LOL and this is coming from a guy who just returned from yet another sight seeing trip paid for by American taxes. How about staying in the White House for more than a week instead of flying off to faraway places on Air Force One. Maybe while you're sitting in the oval office pondering what to do next, you might take a few minutes to get your head out of the clouds and your six ,and make a decision on the troop request for Afghanistan. 2012 can't come soon enough!

You won't have anything to save if Obama keeps doing what he is doing. This is the most pathetic excuse for a president I have ever seen and I'm in my mid 60's. Tax increases and inflation will be the rule under Obama. Wake up and look and you will see I am right as being correct not right wing.

Shouldn't it be: tax more, enact more welfare, spread the wealth from those who earn it to those who do not?

Is he insane? Spend less? I know that "save" has not reached his vocabulary yet. Is this the same man that is spending taxpayers money before the money can even be printed? Wow, you talk about talking out of both sides of your moutn. Please do not let your children hear him talk. It will lead to nightmares.

It would be nice if he would practice what he preaches. I won't hold my breath for that though.

A long time ago, I remember when both sides of the aisle would call this responsible leadership. Nowadays, I can only wait for the republican's to go off on Obama about how he openly wants our economy to crumble, why else would he be saying "spend less", right? That is what the republican's will get mad about, right?

Our federal government needs to do the same thing!!
Basic accounting and how to balance a checkbook classes should mandatory for all of our elected leaders.
Our nation should have been doing that while Bush and the GOP were in charge. They took a balanced federal budget and surplus and spent like crazy causing the biggest deficit in our nation's history.
Now we are trying to spend our way out of the Bush/GOP mess, which isn’t helping.

Bush inherited a small recesion, had to handle two wars and Homeland security, which all raised the deficit. But he did not raise taxes, he lowered taxes, and by 2005, the government was taking in more tax revenue than ever before, deficit wa going down fast, unemployment was at an all time low of 4%. Then, in 2006 democrats took control if congress. If you look back, this is when the problems started happening. So now democrats controll both houses and the presidency, and we have a 1.6 trillion dollar deficit. Who's to blame? If you say Bush, you deserve what Obama is going to do to you!
