You're as pretty as Palin, Carville tells Matalin

Washington (CNN) – Longtime Clinton ally and Democratic strategist James Carville had some rare words of praise for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union. But, ever the good husband, Carville made sure to heap equal praise on his wife, Republican strategist Mary Matalin.

The two were discussing the recent controversial cover of Newsweek magazine, in which Palin is shown in running shorts. Carville said Palin should not complain about the use of a photo which was not a candid shot but one she had originally posed for, even if it were for a publication other than Newsweek. Echoing recent comments by Palin, Matalin disagreed and said she thought the Newsweek cover was sexist.

“You can agree on this,” Matalin asked her husband, “she looked good in it, right?”

“She does,” Carville said without hesitation, “Ain’t no doubt about that. You and her are the two best-looking women in the Republican Party,” the Democrat told his wife.

But Carville did not have much more positive to say about Palin.

While the Democratic strategist said Palin is “compelling” and connects with her supporters “in an unbelievable way,” Carville also said the former Alaska governor, believed by some political observers to be laying the groundwork for a 2012 White House bid, is not fit to be the nation’s chief executive.

“What I said about Sarah Palin on the day she was nominated [for the number two spot on the Republican presidential ticket last year], is still true. She’s uniquely and supremely unqualified to be president of the United States. But she’s got real presence about her. I find myself wanting to watch her more than I do most other politicians,” Carville told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King as Matalin looked on.

Matalin said Palin was good for the Republican Party as it begins to position itself for the 2010 midterms and the 2012 White House race.

“We’re ascendant in 2010,” Matalin said Sunday, “but we need people who can communicate the framework, the philosophy into which policy prescriptions can be put and [Palin] does that better than almost anybody.”

Does the GOP really need/want press this badly? The old statement that, "ANY press is good press," isn't true, when you look like idiots in the press.

Seriously, why won't Palin go away? Why?! She hasn't got a chance in a national election, she'd lose to a rutabega!

Hey James, lets not give Sarah any real reason to cry sexism. Who cares what she looks like. That fact that she is total lacks any knowledge of issues and lies almost every time she opens her mouth is quite enough.

1- This is hard hitting news? You really have nothing worth while to report? No wonder your ratings are going down the toilet.
2- She is not as pretty as Palin. You are dellusional.

Palin is really good at pointing out who she is one of and they hear her loud and clear. She is better than a dog whistle because everyone knows just where she is coming from and where she will never get to. SHE WILL NEVER BE POTUS

Carville has long been know for stupidity.
    Now, he proves it more.
His "wife" can't hold a candle to Palin in the "looks and bod" department.

I got some bad news for Carville but Obama is also uniquely and supremely unqualified to be president of the United States!

And yet Obama is running a party of left wing liberal nut jobs!

Palin is just as Intelligent as any one else wanting to become president of this country.

And I must add who cares what old Skull head thinks about Paylin!

If Palin looked like Eleanor Roosevelt or Barbara Bush, she wouldn't even be governor of Alaska. Oops, I forgot. She can't even handle that job.

Yeah, lets elect her to be president and when she hits year three and becomes a sitting duck she'll resign so she can do more important things like give speeches overseas denouncing the president or doing book tours.

    What a poser Sarah is.

It goes to show both political parties are run by money. Do you ever see a political strategist, a lobbyist or a politician, that isn't dripping in jewels? You can bet your sweet bippy, that the Carville/Matlin clan have a Louisanna home and a fashionable home in the D.C. area. The only one that suffers from today's politicians and it's media "tell all" are the Common Folks that live paycheck to paycheck.
Praying for a 3rd Party. The "Independent Party of The Common Man."

I'm sick of Palin. She was unqualified and dangerous when she was chosen as McCain's running mate, and she's unqualified and dangerous now. I check CNN for news, not for superficial updates on the biggest ditz in the Republican party.

I disagree with pretty much all of Sarah Palin's views on domestic and foreign issues, but she IS a hottie. She's still an idiot, a failure, and a quitter, but she is very hot. That being said, I hope she gets the Republican nomination: that would make President Obama's (hopeful) re-election a certainty.

It is apparent that liberals are scared to death of Sarah Palin. They go to great lengths to try to make her look stupid, as they do to anyone who does not agree with their philosophy. Imagine, a christian, conservative woman with ethics. That definitely scares the Democrats. For my conservative friends, remember, it took a Jimmy Carter to get a Ronald Reagan. There is "hope" after all.

When will you stop parading these same tired old faces on your news shows? There is no nuance, no fresh perspectives or adult reflection. Describing Matalin as wearing political blinders is way too kind, she seems to be both blind and deaf.

The faux outrage over the Newsweek cover photo is a laughable attempt to create controversy where none exists. If the photo was not sexist when Palin posed for it for Runner's World, why is it sexist when used as a cover for Newsweek? Palin is quick to deploy the "sexist" card when it suits her purposes, i.e., to make her case for the "liberal media" arrayed against her.

If she doesn't like sexist photos of herself, she shouldn't willingly pose for them.

Carville – YOU LIE!!! Come on now! I DON"T LIKE Palin at all but don't lie like that... As a matter of fact – your wife does not need to be compared to a beauty pageant moron because she has more sense than Palin any day!

For clarity, Carville would never say that Palin "does that better than almost anybody", it was Carville's wife who said it.

Personally, I could only see voting for her if she was running for my local dog catcher. She just doesn't come across as being that bright. However, I know some very intelligent people that back her 100%, which is quite confusing to me.

Thew difference between Sarah Palin and Obama is that Alaska is economically better than any state in the United States to live in much to her credit .
Srah Palin Has Alaska to her credit and the only thing Obama ever did was associate with Hate mongers Like Farakhan and Wright ,
It has been 1 year and we are worse off economically than George Bush was in office.
What has obama done besides get bonuses for execs in AIG for taxpayers and increase the homeowners buyers credit ?
    Nothing,,
OBama is the new jimmy carter.

What is about incessant reporting on Sarah Palin? I am beginning to wonder if CNN's reporting on and about Sarah Palin is more about ratings than it is about reporting the news. Where are the days when CNN first began; where they reported the news, rather than editorializing through slanted commentary? Could it be that CNN and other media have an agenda having almost nothing to do with reporting 'real' newsworthy stories? Ratings? It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to 'not' notice her name in your headlines. I believe the Presidential election ended over a year ago. Let’s get back to reporting real honest to goodness news!
