(CNN) - Can Lou Dobbs make the leap from the anchor desk to the Oval Office?
A radio interviewer on WTOP joked Monday about the "crazy" idea that the former CNN host could mount a White House bid in 2012 - but Dobbs wasn't laughing. "What's so crazy about that?" he responded in the interview broadcast on the Washington, D.C. station.
"Well, I'll tell you this much: it's one of the discussions that we're having," Dobbs said. "For the first time, I'm actually listening to some people about politics."
Dobbs, who amicably parted ways with the network earlier this month, also told former Sen. Fred Thompson that he was definitely weighing a run.
"I'm going to be talking some more with some folks who want me to listen to them in the next few weeks," Dobbs said on the 2008 Republican presidential candidate's radio show. "I just don't even know even what to tell you in terms of where I'm leaning, because right now I'm fortunate to have just a number of wonderful options."
The former anchor's strong views on illegal immigration have made him a lightning rod for criticism from Hispanic groups, and a popular figure in some conservative quarters.
Please! Please! Lou Dobbs do everybody a favor and go sit down somewhere or maybe him and Sarah Palin can go read her book and hash over why they think they can do so much better...Give us a break!
I am a yellow-dog Democrat so fed up with the status quo that I would consider voting for Lou.
Help Wanted-Position Opening
President of the United States
Qualifications: Must be dumber than a box of rocks.
Crazier than a bat.
Extremely manipulative by the extreme right.
Dobbs – run for your local city council, then for your local house representative seat. Then by 2016 in the earliest you might have at least some basic experience in politics to talk about a presidential bid. Be prepared to change your immigration and other views if they are not representing the needs of your constituents in the meantime.
Dobbs... what a joke!
I'll vote for him!!
HAHAHAHAHa seriously? no one would vote for him. He's a quitter just like Palin!!! A President with Dentures? hahahaha...no.
lou.. are you kidding me....]
lost my vote on arrival
Did Dobbs give himself away by saying: For the first time I am actually listening to some people about politics"? All I can say is "It's about time, you idiot."

You are correct......Dobbs for President???That's as dumb as Palin for President
Neither have a clue........................
thats fine, I can vote against you just as fast as anyone else with a big ego who thinks they know more than they do
He wouldn't get the latino vote, not based on his past rethoric!
Nothing gets the American people excited the way Lou Dobbs does! *rolls eyes*
That border fence would have already been completed if he were in office
Oh great! A television personality who wants to be president. Just line up behind Sarah Palin and any others starting to run for president in 2009.
Is this man kidding or is he serious?
Electing Dobbs is probably the only way we'd get immigration laws enforced.
What a hoot. Lou Dobbs has spent years alienating one of the largest voting blocks in America. You run Lou, and maybe Sarah Palin will be your running mate. And Fred Thompson, theres a winner for ya. He couldnt even get off his fat behind long enough to actually campaign when he was running. Oh pleaser run Lou. It will be a huge gift to Democrats.
Can't do worse than what we have now...
This is what happens when you surround yourself with sycophants and your sense of self-importance and righteousness gets too bloated. Dobbs would have every Hispanic in the country voting against him and picketing his campaign. On top of that, he would have every liberal in the country calling him a potential tyrant with delusions of grandeur. I hope he runs. It will be fun to watch him fade into obscurity when it becomes clear that he is a single-issue candidate.
Please do it! We need the laughs.
What make Lou Dobbs think that he is qualified to run for any political office? He is a celebrity commentator. I am sure that he is a very intelligent man, but what kind of bona fides does he have other than knowing and having interviewed political figures?
What party would he run for? He hates everybody.
CNN made a great move forward getting this fool off it's airwaves.
Now get rid if the idiot Ed Henery and you might gain back some dignity.
asking questions on interview shows is one thing, bringing a country together that is so polarized is another. Is Lou up to it? Might be a stretch!
I hope he does... A total rejection of the american public would be just the "dose of reality" that Mr. Dobbs needs!
I hope Lou makes his way over Faux. It will be priceless when ALL of their "pundits" are running for Pres in '12!!
Who do you think Ailes is going to back?
