Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama will announce the U.S. troop strategy for Afghanistan in a speech at 8 p.m. ET Tuesday at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Wednesday.

President Obama, this is the way it starts. Then it gets worse. And, then you wonder where your presidency is going and then you wonder where it went. Well, it went where the military wanted it to go. It went away like Johnson's presidency went. Please do not do this. Negotiate with the Taliban. Get to know them and work with them. They are not monolithic. There are dozens of differnet types of Taliban. Don' let the military and gas and energy companies dictate to you.

oh yeah great, awesome. wasn't he supposed to decide in August??? Aren't the BRITs real mad at us now over this. Aren't countless american military men and women in danger now that he has taken so long to decide? Quit and go play your basketball Barry, your a disgrace. And you never had any plans, just made a big show out there trying to get elected. Wow, i bet it would be much different if we now had a president with some real experience in politics. Thanks mr. Why the delay? We already know what he is going to say. Does he really need to interrupt prime time programming for this? This man loves to hear himself speak, but we are tired of him and are counting the days until we can remove this naive and weak individual from power. We realize our mistake and want to correct it.
Strategic thinking takes time and I'd like to thank President Obama for taking his time on this decision. As liberal as I may be, I believe this war must be fought. If the Pakistani Army is doing the job in their country, and if we keep the pressure on in Afghanistan, the Taliban and Al-Queda will be dismantled.
We need a war tax to pay for the plan.
I'm glad we have such an intelligent, distinguished president that takes his time making decisions on important matters. Unlike the previous administration! Yay! Mr. President.
Now, if we could only get you to be as deliberative about health care and cap-and-trade.
Where was all of this thoughtfulness and contemplation in the first eleven months of the year?

He has to go to West Point to make his point? Really. Spend some more tax payers' money for a destination photo op. He couldn't do this from Washington?
Dobbs will make a great politician. He already is showing a knack for talking out of both sides of his mouth. Any credibility he MAY have had was destroyed last year when Amy Goodman (Democracy Now) called him out on all his lies about illegal immigration. He could not back pedal fast enough.
Those who think we should "send more troops now!" truly believe we can load 34,000 troops and their equipment on a fleet of airplanes and fly right into Afganistan tomorrow morning and wipe out the terrorists. You are not living in the Real world.
A War Tax must be implimented immediately on ALL Wall Street and War Profiteering Companies who have $$$ for Bonuses and Lobbist's salaries. The Rich must pay for the War, the poor are already paying with their blood.
Good luck Mr. President. I know you have inherited this monster of a problem. But I know that whatever decision you make, it will be sincere and perhaps achieve the intended results. Don't worry about the critics. They are just critics. Do what you feel is right. We elected you – we have faith in you.

So from what I'm hearing, Obumble's Afghanistan proposal looks a heck of a lot like the surge in Iraq that President Bush did. Hmmm, gotta wonder if all the Dems will be blasting this one. You know, Chicken Little Harry Reid standing on the floor of the Senate calling it an utter failure. Pelosi blasting it. Mighty ironic how the very same strategy which he criticized during one of the very few times he actually was doing his job as a senator all of the sudden seems like the best thing to do in Obumbles inexperienced little mind.
But I'm sure we'll never hear a clear answer from him until his pollsters determine the best time. That's the difference between Bush and Obama. Bush didn't base his decisions on polls or what certain special interests thought. He decided, and did it, and 99.9% of the time he was right.
Gee, sure miss those days when we had a president who wasn't afraid to make a decision.
I think this troop increase will be long term trouble for the President.
We have been down this ugly road before with absolutely no good outcome. Propping up a completely incompetent government that is looked at by its own people as a disgusting joke is not worth lives and treasure.

Why can't he make the statement at the WH like the other presidents have done? You would think AF1 is a car the way he runs around in it. I hate to think how many tax dollars this will cost just so he can have another photo op; then he wants cap & trade passed. Hyprocrite.
Can he do something without campaigning about it !? Or we are now to full four years of campaign stumping on every decision that is finally made ?!
Well, Mr. President, we voted for you because we thought you would bring positive change.
You have had enough time to consider this issue and I am thankful you took the time to fully look at the options of this issue.
But now is the time for you to earn your pay. I hope your decision is a wise one. People will remember this decision for a long time.
