Vietnam did not attack the US on it's soil. It's more comparable to Pearl Harbor, where we were actually attacked by the enemy. If you want to compare something to vietnam, you could make a better argument about Iraq. Obama has his priorities correct, where as Bush did not.

Bush created another Vietnam in Iraq, invading them for absolutely no reason at all, none....NOTHING that we were told was true, a BUNCH of lies.

Obama is going after those who invaded us, since Bush/Cheney let him go (Bin Laden).

Two completely different situations beginning with the fact that we were not attacked by Vietnam but we were attacked by bin laden who used to be based in Afghanistan.
We needed to take him out but it seems that even though there was an opportunity the bush administration decided not to take it. So much for the macho dictatorship of the last eight years. bush never served and darth vader got enough deferments to last him a lifetime.

Democrats are partisan HACKS that LOVE our humiliation and defeat in Vietnam, HEKK they caused it, and they would love to cause it again. Lose at any cost is their mantra, let us not forget what the losercrats said about IRAQ.

There are almost no comparisons between Afghanistan and Vietnam, Veitnam never attacked us, The body count in Vietnam was enormus because of poor leadership. And bad decisions. L.B.J ran the war from the white house. Our aircraft went out on one way missions every day.Our infantry was for the most part defensive.
    We drafted our soldiers.
The nation was not behind its soldiers,. I think mostly we all are today.
If Obama could have gotten us out he would have, we need to finish this and come home, but we need to take the fight to the enemy day and night. until they sue for peace. Or disappear. If this is not the plan then we will fail.

Of course multiple Democrats would say that because there are always multiple Democrats that don't think any war is worth engaging in; better to be enslaved. When will these people study up on history? I say these Democrats are what is "eerie".

I wish people (especially the media and the politicians who repeat this mantra because they have nothing new to say) would recognize the fact that Vietnam was basically half a century ago. The world has changed a lot over the last 50 years. If people can't recognize that and quit trotting out the same tired cliches, then maybe they are not smart enough to be trusted to report the news or serve in office.
