(CNN) – President Obama turned straight to camera for his closing remarks.
"And the message that we send in the midst of these storms must be clear: that our cause is just, our resolve unwavering."
Men and women embarking on military careers are all around him now. They are so….young.

Clear message: sending more but bringing back???!?!?!???? Excuse me??!
no doubt we need to support our troops but the knucklehead Bush that got us there, we do not need to support his thinking or lying
what a disgrace Bush/Cheney were/are
Obama is now making himself a part of their debacle, and that is a shame
When I voted for Obama it was the first time I had voted since 1976. I voted for him because I believed he would put an end to the Iraq War. Now, it appears as though he is simply trading one war for another. I do not support either war, for any reason, and as far as I am concerned there is no good reason not to bring all the troops home. If Obama, or Bush, or Cheney believe that we should have people dying on foreign shores, then let them go and do the fighting and the dying. It's that simple.
Does anybody believe Obama when he says "our resolve is unwavering" after dithering for 4 months, and saying he wants to exit by the end of his 1st term....obviously when he needs his crazy left wing for his reelection bid. The murdering terrorists and Taliban can read between those lines really easily.
The President was correct in setting a time line. Karzai now knows that this will end and he must get his army in gear to defend Afghanistan. Also, he must talk with others in that area and form treaties for all to protect themselves from the Tailaban and AlQueda. He must get his own people to trust his government. If the President had not given a time line and told we will not support his cronisim indefinitely, Karzai would try to do business as usual. Karzai cannot expect the USA to continue to fight to support a corrupt government. As far as the Taliban, time line or not they will continue to kill Americans and citizens. These citizen and tribal leaders must unite to protect themselves. If the Afghanistan army get to work with training and valor they can contiue the fight as necessary to keep them out. Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan must learn to leave old grudges qand unite to fight to keep the Taliban and any other terrorist groups from forming or coming to their country. In the end, the safety of those nations rest with them.
As he waivers for 5 months trying to come up with a decision to keep his far left liberal loonies happy and keep the rest of us from seeing what a total failure he his. He failed on both counts.
The message is clear. You are looking to run while sending troops. Why bother? Pull them out now because you aren't committed. We don't need another Vietnam.
Its time to support the Troops and keep them safe. There lives are in your hands.
our cause is just, our resolve unwavering.
It is and that is why it is so difficult to see so many young people but all people need to see how so many young people do trust and defend our values! We cannot take for granted their service and all our actions at home must honor their sacrifices and we must live up to the same values that defines us as one People!
We will support efforts by the Afghan government to open the door to those Taliban who abandon violence and respect the human rights of their fellow citizens. And we will seek a partnership with Afghanistan grounded in mutual respect - to isolate those who destroy; to strengthen those who build; to hasten the day when our troops will leave; and to forge a lasting friendship in which America is your partner, and never your patron.
...to strengthen those who build; this to me refers to nation building!
America is also providing substantial resources to support Pakistan’s democracy and development.
democracy and development...again nation building!
....a civilian surge that reinforces positive action;
well....nation building again!!!
A bit melodramatic don't you think?
President Obama's message would be clear if we didn't have media putting their sensational "spin" on every word that is spoken. Really CNN – 12 individuals to give their "opinion" and their "take" on disecting the President's speech tonight. You know what they say about opinions are like......... and everybody's got one. Just report the facts as they were stated. We don't need all the professionals opinions. How many of the 12 have ever been voted President of the United States and had as much of a mess to clean up as him??????
Stop the madness you're part of the problem.
It donot matter to some people if Presidnet Obama dont send more troops he will be critcize if he do send more troops he will still be criticized.
