Pelosi: Bush 'did not have a plan to get the job done'

Washington (CNN) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after President Obama's speech Tuesday night:

“President Obama inherited a deteriorating situation in Afghanistan because the Bush Administration did not have a plan to get the job done.

“Tonight, the President articulated a way out of this war with the mission of defeating Al Qaeda and preventing terrorists from using Afghanistan and Pakistan as safe havens to again launch attacks against the United States and our allies. The President has offered President Karzai a chance to prove that he is a reliable partner. The American people and the Congress will now have an opportunity to fully examine this strategy.

“Our troops in Afghanistan and around the world have performed excellently; they have done everything that has been asked of them. As always, we are grateful and respectful of the enormous sacrifices our men and women in uniform, and their families, have made.”

On one end, you have the Neo Cons wanting to wage war on anyone who isn't Christian, or White. On the other end, you have the Liberals who want it their way or no way. I wouldn't want Obama's Job for nothing!!! The man is a very Intelligent American!! The only decision I question, is the one to become President.

Even if it were true that Bush had no plan, it would be preferable to the plan I heard tonight from the current President. There seemed to be much more focus on pulling out than actually winning the war. Why send more troops into battle without any real plans to win it? No Taliban are going to come over to the US side knowing that the US troops will be gone in 18 months. That is just suicide for them. The real Taliban will slaughter them after we leave. Nancy Pelosi must have had a lot of input into this strategy while she was in a drug induced condition.

LOL – Ohh Nancy. You are such a gem. Can you imagine if in WWII, the US President said "the war will be over in 1940 and the troops will becoming home?" What an idiot! Next we're going to hear that all of the emails confirming global warming is a hoax is Bush's fault too. You just keep working on those Socialist policies that "aren't going to raise anyone's taxes!"

Get what job done? I have yet to hear what the end goal for these wars is. We know if we try to win a war by changing ideology, it WILL be a fools errand and do nothing but cost time, money and lives.

I agree. Bush was a failure at everything especially in Afghanistan. Instead of going after Saddam (just because he tried to kill his daddy) Bush should have kept going after Al Qaeda and the Taliban. If he had we probably wouldn't be in either country now.

Speaker Pelosi is correct. George Bush went cowboying into both countries without a clue as to how these wars would benefit the United States. Now President Obama is trying to bring this entire episode to a conclusion that leaves America as the winners and on the side of right. Can't fault the man for trying to do that.

If Pelosi, and Congress are so supportive of us (men and women in uniform) then she should support the war tax. Furthermore since the President and Congress are the ones ordering us to go to war then they should sacrifice some of their paycheck...

I saw no evidence of a plan

in addition, where was his follow up nation building after the invasion?

why did he announce 'mission accomplished?'

Bush was just such a train wreck as a commander in chief

Obama is having to mop up his mess

how is that estimation of no resistance after the invasion working for you Cheney? You don't care, you are already rich off the American people through your Haliburton connections

When is this administration going to stop the Bush-bashing and blaming? I know we have a narcissistic president and hopefully others that voted for him will see that we made a BIG mistake !
This administration is good for only three things......blame Bush, show contempt for this great country and NOT listen to what the American people want.

This is known as denial thinking. We are not going to get the job done. There is no done in Afganistan. This is America's arrogance as demonstrated by Pelosi and Obama. This will turn out to be Obama's undoing. Wait and see.

Correction, Bush Sr. and later Bush jr. had a plan in Afghanistan.

That plan was to pour hundreds of Billions of US Taxpayer dollars into the pockets of defense contractors, the Pentagon and the pockets of the CIA administrations.

Those American Corporations and Govt. Agencys would have lost hundreds of Billions of US Taxpayer dollars if Osama bin Ladin had been captured early on. They didn't want him captured nor killed, it would mean a huge loss of income to their Corporations and their Agencys.

Hey Pelosi, I got a way.
Lets torture them... oh wait, you changed your mind on that.

Blame Bush all you want. The truth is you cant win a war by being wimps and allowign the media to dictate how the war goes.

If the US had not done what they needed to do during world war 2, we would still be fighting Japan today. Sometimes you have to make the enemy realize you are serious. When they soldiers being court martialed because they gave a prisoners a bloody lip, that makes the US look like a bunch of liberal idiots.

Bush had a plan, but the plan was to make money for the people who already had the money. Bush, was, is, and forever will be the symbol of failure. He failed at every endeavor he tried. His time as the Commander And Chief is no exception.
