Palin defends Obama birth certificate inquiries

Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.
Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.

Washington (CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended the public's right to question the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate, but noted that she is not demanding for it to be released.

Appearing on conservative radio host Rusty Humphries program, Palin said that she supports people inquiring about it.

"I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue," Palin said in the interview with Humphries. "I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers."

Humphries, whose radio show airs on about 300 stations across the country, went on to press Palin about whether it is "fair" game to ask such questions.

"I think it's a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records - all of that is fair game," Palin responded.

She also criticized her own presidential campaign for not asking enough questions about Obama.

"The McCain-Palin campaign didn't do a good enough job in that area," the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate said. "We didn't call out Obama and some of his associates on their records and what their beliefs were and perhaps what some of their future plans were and I don't think that was fair to voters to not have done our job as candidates.

The interview aired at 10:30 p.m. ET, and just a few hours later Palin made it clear in a posting on her Facebook page that she, personally, is not asking to see it.

"Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose," Palin said. "I've pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States."

By the way have we ever seen Palin's birth certificate? If so, can we really believe it's authentic? I'm thinking probably not. Fools with questions can always find something... :-D

Sarah continues to stir it up. She is NOT a viable presidential candidate as her only qualification is age and nationality. Obama has proved his age and American nationality. So let it rest.

Can Sarah Pallin just go away and stop rehashing old stuff! If you have nothing good and constructive to come up with then say nothing.

This is and has never been about Obama's birth certificate, a meaningless piece of paper. This has always been about dehumanizing the first half-black president, who doesn't share the typical blue-eyed credentials. Palin, like the rest of the birthers, has never been comfortable with the idea that the proverbial "other" has own the seat.

If she believes that it is a fair question and entirely legitimate to pursue the Obama birth certificate issue, can we see hers?

If she can see Russia from her house, what's to say she's really not Russian born and crawled across a frozen Bering Strait as an infant...

He has shown his birth certificate so I would suggest Sarah Palin find a new subject! This is unbelivable! NEWS FLASH: HE WAS BORN IN HAWAII!
I have said before and I will say again, John McCain is responsible for thrusting her on the public, perhaps his punishment should be defeat when up for re-election. This woman needs to go back to Alaska, stay there and BE QUIET!

Palin made so many other outrageous insinuations and accusations she didn't have time for the ridiculous birtth questioins.
Why anyone would give an ounce of credit to aperson who constantly lies about her record, incites hate, anger, fear mongering, division of our country and obviously lacks intelligence is beyond me.
With her ego, negativity, phoniness and self rightousness, she
    will self destruct.

Well said "ThinkAgain"...and another point. When you look at all the countless lawsuits that were thrown around in the 2000 election, does anyone in their right mind think that if there was any chance that Obama was not eligible to run for President, that the GOP wouldn't have filed suit everywhere they could have to contest the election? They didn't because they know it's a non-issue, so they do what they do best...spread lies and misinformation to their ignorant masses.

OK it’s time to drop the birther stuff already! Obama’s making enough mistakes so attack him for his performance, not this nonsense.

Fair game for all. Now it's time to ask this idiot about her education level, and complete backround from the time she was born, until two seconds before the interview. Also, since she wants to live in the public eye, and live off the tax payers, it's good for her to align her family to serve in some branch of the military.

Apparently Ms. Palin thinks our country is so imperfect that it's OK to "pal around" with secessionists (The Alaskan Independence Party). Earth to Sarah, regarding the Party of Lincoln: Lincoln was not a secessionist.

Why does everything Palin says about anything put into the news? She is a private citizen with an opinion. That's all! Her comments are coming on anything and everything that is said. Since she has no idea what is going on in politics and only apes what has already been said by someone else, her opinions are meaningless.

This is for all stupid uneducated republican.
Well if you are not satisfied when they show his birth certificate on TV, than to see with your naked eye you have to wait till he build his own presidential library.

Mrs. Palin is forgetting that President Obama did indeed stand up to the media and declare that her family should be off limits. As to the "many" leftists that claimed Trig wasn't hers.....SAY WHAT?? There were a few wingnuts that said he wasn't – the majority of people took you at your word.... Stop exaggerating to obtain the sympathy vote. There were much more serious problems with your qualifications.
