Palin defends Obama birth certificate inquiries

Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.
Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.

Washington (CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended the public's right to question the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate, but noted that she is not demanding for it to be released.

Appearing on conservative radio host Rusty Humphries program, Palin said that she supports people inquiring about it.

"I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue," Palin said in the interview with Humphries. "I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers."

Humphries, whose radio show airs on about 300 stations across the country, went on to press Palin about whether it is "fair" game to ask such questions.

"I think it's a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records - all of that is fair game," Palin responded.

She also criticized her own presidential campaign for not asking enough questions about Obama.

"The McCain-Palin campaign didn't do a good enough job in that area," the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate said. "We didn't call out Obama and some of his associates on their records and what their beliefs were and perhaps what some of their future plans were and I don't think that was fair to voters to not have done our job as candidates.

The interview aired at 10:30 p.m. ET, and just a few hours later Palin made it clear in a posting on her Facebook page that she, personally, is not asking to see it.

"Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose," Palin said. "I've pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States."

Way to CONtinue inciting the lunatic "birther" fringe, Palin. You know–your remaining base that hijacked my former Republican Party.

Palin is also lying again about their deplorable campaign last year where they did indeed "call out" (lie) about "palling around with terrorists" at their rallies.

Sorry, but revisionist history on talk radio does not change verifiable records (pun intended).

You are sooo dumb... either you do or you don't palin. If you are such a believer in the people's right to know, then why did you quit being a governor? Tell us the truth, I mean, you said it was because of all the ethics allegations but isn't that people's right to know. You couldn't handle it, just like you couldn't handle the campaign you sour puss. This was your big shot and you blew it. Now all you have left is your Facebook and the criticism towards old man maccain's campaign. GROW UP!

Maybe we should ask her to show the birth certificate on Trig, I don't see her trying to debunk that rumors of the child not being hers, Of course not, she is the Hockey Mom who answers no questions and only give half bake opinon.

Shame! Shame! No wonder the McCain staff kept Palin on a short leash. Such statements are blantant pandering to the extreme right wing nuts in the GOP. The darling of the Tea Party protestors is showing that she is just another ignorant redneck racist.

I think that she is trying to revive a cadaver for her own profit. The birthers don't need any more boosting Mrs. Palin, so please go back to Alasca, that place that your husband wants to secede from the USA remember?, and leave the USA to be handled by far more capable hands than yours or that of those who support you...
Ops, my bad, she doesn't listen to anybody but herself...

I really do wonder what the fascination is with Sarah Palin. CNN hangs on her every word and joins FOX in promoting her.

Birthers will never believe that Pres. Obama is a United States Citizen born to a United States citizen – his mother. People have short memories though, I do remember people asking about Barry Goldwater – whether he was born before or after Arizona became a state.

If we would concentrate on the important issues facing this country it would be wonderful. But, that seems to be an impossibility for some people. Once a president is elected we should be working together to move forward. If we cannot and do not the politicians will not suffer, the American people will suffer.

so I can then ask a question about you......what makes you think you have ANY qualifications for being VP of the US? You have not a clue. What about your husbands secessionist party affiiation? What about you supporting the bridge to nowhere THEN not supporting it? You are a true dimwit that is only out there spouting your drivel to stay in the public arena. But I DO want you to run and win the GOP nomination. Nothing would make me laugh harder than to watch you run crying off the stage when Mitt and Huckeberry shred you to pieces in a debate. Is that "media bias???"

Yes, dimwit, you are right, it is a fair question. And it has been answered, over and over and over again. How braindead are you radical fundamental religious fanatic lunatics anyway? You are as incorrigible (that means incapable of being corrected or reformed) as the Taliban. Obama got elected fair and square – -believe or not. I hope you do run for President in 2012. You'll get beat so bad in the popular vote alone that it might finally put a stop to your ridiculous supporters running their mouths about total nonsense.

Yes!! Please concentrate on trivial things that have already been proven (Rev. Wright, "birther" theories) instead of the important things like the recession, unemployment, and the two wars that we are in if you run! That way, we'll be sure to elect Obama for another 4 years!!

Why do we even give her air to breath? This line of questioning has so many racist undertones that she should be completely ashamed of herself. It's racism with lipstick on rather than a sheet.

This woman is such an idiot! Have you ever heard anyone talk like her – shameful. She is not a representative of women especially those who have worked so hard to get where they are today. How anyone would vote of her is beyond me..

Great news! If she decides to run for anything, Palin has just
opened the door to all the scrutiny the press, politicians and
voters want to go after. Of course, if they ask her, she calls it
badgering, but if they ask any opponent, its fair game.
This self-centered woman is on Fort Hood, TX today, peddling
her stupid book. Just what those people on Base need.
They are trying to recover from the shooting tragedy and to spend
time with their newly returned family members. Her middle name is
certainly not Class, unless, of course, you remove the "Cl".
I know this comment will not make the cut, but it felt good to
    express my feelings. Thank you.

If Sarah isn't requesting it be released, why mention it? This lady only can remember a handful of talking points, so at times She has to go back to Talking point #1, then maybe #3, then maybe #2 and then # 1 again. LOL

Look, the public has a right to question anything. It is the "public's" attitude LONG AFTER the question has been answered AD NAUSEUM, and the legitimacy of the question that raises issues of VALIDITY. This Birther movement and the accompanying question is, quite bluntly, idiotic at best, and borders on lunatic harrassment. The birth certificate has been posted on line. Vetting on a presidential candidate is exhaustive. One of the first things that would invalidate the presidency of anyone is where they were born. To think that this MAJOR question was not addressed, investigated, and answered to the satisfaction of the various governmental bodies involved in the vetting is what I would call "grasping at non-existent straws".

An irrelevant issue pursued by illogical people who continue to desperately cling to it in view of overwhelming evidence to the contrary... Yep, sounds like something she'd say.

This woman is dangerous. She's a threat to democracy, as far as I am concerned.

Still, I'd love to see her and Glenn Beck co-host a late night talk show, just for a week. That's all it would take for the country to see just how dangerous fundamentalist conservatives are.

Fundamentalism, regardless of its origins, is one step away from terrorism. If you think Islamic fundamentalists are dangerous, start taking a close, hard look at the ones growing up all around us. In the name of "Christian America" they propose many of the same constraints and restrictions that have befallen minority groups in other countries.

We are not immune to crazy people with a cause. But we can and should do everything to limit the influence they attempt to exert.

The reality is, a COLB is not the same as a Birth Certificate. There is also the issue with Obama gaining citizenship in Indonesia, and no one has made a determination if that means he gave up his U.S. citizenship. If Obama was born in Hawaii, why not just release the birth certificate and blow up the entire argument? Bottom line, the media gave Obama a total free pass and did everything possible to denigrate Palin, her family, even Joe the Plumber.

yet Mrs. Palin thought it was unfair when voters and others asked questions about her family and some of the dysfunction that appeared there. The only way these "birthers", some of these hateful teabag folks and others like them are going to be even further exposed is for people like her to stand up and say enough is enough, but since this is the GOP base they are hesitant to do so in fear of driving them away. Sarah Palin did nothing when hateful folks yelled racists things at her own rallies so it doesn't shock me when she says things like this.

Palin still doesn't "get it." She thinks it's fine to question the other candidate's credentials, background, religious affiliation, etc., but not her own. When questions are brought up about her, "it's the liberal media out to get her."

Thank you Sarah Palin. What is the big secret? Why the hiding of Obama's birth certificate? If he's truly a legal citizen, then why not come out and show everyone? I smell deception by Barack Obama. Is there any other scent coming from him besides b.s.?
