Palin defends Obama birth certificate inquiries

Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.
Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.

Washington (CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended the public's right to question the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate, but noted that she is not demanding for it to be released.

Appearing on conservative radio host Rusty Humphries program, Palin said that she supports people inquiring about it.

"I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue," Palin said in the interview with Humphries. "I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers."

Humphries, whose radio show airs on about 300 stations across the country, went on to press Palin about whether it is "fair" game to ask such questions.

"I think it's a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records - all of that is fair game," Palin responded.

She also criticized her own presidential campaign for not asking enough questions about Obama.

"The McCain-Palin campaign didn't do a good enough job in that area," the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate said. "We didn't call out Obama and some of his associates on their records and what their beliefs were and perhaps what some of their future plans were and I don't think that was fair to voters to not have done our job as candidates.

The interview aired at 10:30 p.m. ET, and just a few hours later Palin made it clear in a posting on her Facebook page that she, personally, is not asking to see it.

"Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose," Palin said. "I've pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States."

Sarah Palin apparently doesn't mind being an ongoing national (and international) embarrasement. Of course anyone can be a nitwit (remember Dan Quale?). It just that in this case one of our 2 major parties thought so little of the country's welfare that the were willing to put a demonstrable lightweight a heartbeeat away from the presidency. What a shame!

As for not covering past associations (Joe McCarthy was especially good at this), what about Palin's association with the Alaska Independence movement? Her husband is a former member and Palin addressed their annual convention – twice – once as govenor of Alaska just a couple of years ago. In contrast to the never ending Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers manufactured news drumbeat led by FOX we got next to nothing on Palin's close association with this organization.

Why is this such a big deal, Obama should show his birth certificate, he is President...it should have happened way before this, and it should happen for every one that runs for Office.

I know you know the press did not get Palin in the spot light enough while she and McCain was campaigning.
How many times did you hear her say Obama was paling around with terrorist?
When Obama when on the road he was doing photo opt., when she do it, I not sure what it is. I just know I rather hear him than her.

She also said during this interview that she had produced Trig's birth certificate. Really? This woman lies every time she opens her mouth. She has never released his birth certificate. Not that it matters. The only reason most people questioned his birth to begin with was because most normal human beings couldn't believe that a 44 yr old woman could be stupid enough when going into labor early with a special needs child to still think it was ok to get on a plane for 10 hours and drive 2 more. Now we know she is that stupid or I say negligent. You be the judge.

BTW, Aside from the fact that Obama has released his birth certificate the birthers still don't believe it. So I challenge ANYBODY to go to their register of deeds office and ask for a "long" form, "original" birth certificate. See how quick they laugh you out of the place. It's like going to the National Archives and demanding the "original" Declaration of Independence. They don't call it an "original" for nothing.

CNN, Thank you for putting every single thing Sarah Palin says up as a headline. This is great, really. The surest way to bury her forever is give her a forum to say whatever she wants. Thanks CNN!

Choosing Palin as a running mate was brilliant. At that time, there was no better way of insuring that the Dems would win the election, and then they could get blamed for all the trouble the Republicans created.

    AND IT WORKED

This woman is unbelievable, the way she views the world is as if she looks at it from a "One Way Mirror".....

It's appears to be impossible for her to look at it both ways, meaning her Husbands participation in a organization that wants to succeed from the United States, her Voo Doo doctor, all her scam dealings with developers etc....

Talk about Hypocrasy run amock, this is despicable to say the least....

All this woman cares about is people screaming her name, it's almost as if she doesn't realize the Presidential Campagne of 2008 is OVER, this woman needs therapy in the worst way.....

Is there a cure for "EGOMANIA"....?

Typical rethuglican tactics - when you don't have any positive solutions to offer, just throw some crap up on the wall and see what sticks. These people never learn, and thanks CNN for continuing to expose these idiots for wha they are. Domestic terrorists, in my opinion.

    Oh, I forgot to add:

Since it's ok to question associations....Can we now ask Sarah why her husband was a member of a Party who's purpose is for Alaska's sucession from the union? Nope. Too much of a "gotta" question.

Palin represents the worst of American; quitters, liars, fools, the uneducated.

What a complete waste of carbon.

Palin is letting Americans know how uninformed she is on issues. Does she not know how judges are refusing to take cases about Obama's
citizenship? And is she not paying attention to the verifiable facts which have proven his US birth? Sarah's politics are clearly low-level, shabby efforts as opposed to highly skilled maneuvers. And a certain segment of Americans are in tune with her. Thankfully, it is not a majority of us.

    So, let me understand this...

Palin thinks that somehow a foreigner slipped that little fact past: All of the American public, the Federal Elections Commission, the state of Hawaii, Congress, etc...

She actually supports the idea that people take seriously the ridiculous idea that our President is secretly foreign-born?

Where is the over-riding commen sense that she likes to tout herself as using to guide her life? Palin likes to act like a reasonable, common-sense, every-day American. But, then, she conveniently slips into her glazed-over-dummy role, where every absurd notion suddenly seems plausible.
You don't get to play it both ways. You don't get to sell everyone on your folksy-down-home sensibility that won't be fooled by fact-maneuvering, and then turn around and use that same folksy character to pretend to be unaware of reality and facts.

How odd that Palin should criticize the Obama campaign for not being meticulous in investigating him. Wasn't if Sarah herself who was forced to release the bombshell that her daughter was pregnant out of wedlock? For someone who espouses such pure Christian and family values, one would think that her daughter's pregnancy would be a glaring contradiction to her stated values, not to mention the fact that her husband was a driving force in the organization that wanted to secede from the lower 48. What a patriot! This woman should just go back to moose hunting.

Some people anted to know (even if they are crazy, say). Then, the political shrewd Obama campaign does not release it, to turn it into an "issue" (the black guy, stupid people are racists, etc.– it works for Obama at the end). A normal campaign would have released the document long ago to a bipartisan committee, but they like to say the conservative are crazy, while the crazy liberals are angels!

Sadly, Ms. Palin cannot survive on real issues and seems to thrive on mean spiritedness through attack and innuendo. And if she were a decent individual she would go fishing in some forgotten stream in Alaska and stay there. This fortune hunting honey is a political joke of the worst order.

Was Obama born in this country? Does he have the right to be President? Why hasn't Obama come out publicly and proved that he has an American birth certificate? Forget Palin, she has her own agenda that doesn't seem to be working. What about Obama? Even democrats, if they really believe in America, should be asking this same question. Question Bidens birth certificate or Reids or Bush and and those people would come up with it in a hot minute, so why hasn't Obama? Unless he's got something to hide!

For her to compare this to the left inquiring about whether Trig was her's or not is disingenuous. Yes, the left did ask that question (among others) but once it was quickly determined that Trig was in fact her baby, the questions were answered and no one asked anymore. Obama has shown the birth records that prove he was born in HI. And yet, people like Palin still won't accept it because they do not want to.
During the campaign, Palin (of all people!) kept saying "we need to know more about this guy." What? Campaigning nationally for 2 years, writing 2 best selling autobiographies, and being the subject of countless biographies wasn't enough???
That he's black and has a funny sounding name is the only reason we continue to have this discussion.

Palin is totally crazy. If this is what the Republicans are putting up as their best bet for 2012, I think I for one will vote against every Republican who is up for a vote. She is a disgrace to the United States, portraying this great country as a set of vapid publicity mongering set of people. The USA has a number of great women in both parties and I hope to God they will come forward and represent their parties.
