Washington (CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended the public's right to question the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate, but noted that she is not demanding for it to be released.
Appearing on conservative radio host Rusty Humphries program, Palin said that she supports people inquiring about it.
"I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue," Palin said in the interview with Humphries. "I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers."
Humphries, whose radio show airs on about 300 stations across the country, went on to press Palin about whether it is "fair" game to ask such questions.
"I think it's a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records - all of that is fair game," Palin responded.
She also criticized her own presidential campaign for not asking enough questions about Obama.
"The McCain-Palin campaign didn't do a good enough job in that area," the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate said. "We didn't call out Obama and some of his associates on their records and what their beliefs were and perhaps what some of their future plans were and I don't think that was fair to voters to not have done our job as candidates.
The interview aired at 10:30 p.m. ET, and just a few hours later Palin made it clear in a posting on her Facebook page that she, personally, is not asking to see it.
"Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose," Palin said. "I've pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States."

one question i would like to have answered – why did it take her 5 or 6 colleges to get a degree in communications – only to be a 'C' average student?
i did it in 3 years with a 3.9 gpa, i know what it takes, and it's not rocket science. (does that mean i am qualified to run for governor – or vice president?)
more importantly – do we really WANT a C average student to be vice president? or a heart beat away from the presidency?

What is so wrong with a person who believes in less government? It is funny to me that there are so many inflammatory comments from liberals on this article, and barely any on the issues that really matter. If you all are so sick and tired of her, then why are you wasting your time reading and commenting on it. The Federal Govt. has been growing out of control for years and years, under both parties! This administration just has it's foot on the accelerator. Back to the article, she stated that she thinks it is okay for the people to demand these things from their leaders. I believe that it is an honest upright question. Listen, I had to get a passport and I had to produce not only my birthcertificate, but I had to go get a new certified copy. If an ordinary citizen has to go through the hoops, then by God someone running for President should have to. The question of where is has always been just the can opener for the question of dual citizenship, foreign student loans and grants and a bevy of other questionable and legal challenges. If there is nothing to hide then why hide?
It's amazing how many people here keep asking Obama to prove he was born in Hawaii. He has produced a birth certificate that has been authenticated and newspaper announcements of his birth in Hawaii newspapers have been made public. Unless you believe there was a conspiracy hatched in Kenya at the moment he was born to fake his place of birth just in case, decades later, he ran for President (in which case you are truly insane or inane) then what's the issue? Good grief, even Ann Coulter has dismissed this as a non-issue. Sarah Palin, as we needed more proof, is a dimwit.

To question is one thing, to never give up questioning once answers have been given is another. Does anyone really believe that the whole place of birth question would have come up if the President happened to be white? People have been looking for any excuse to discredit President Obama. For those who believe the President hasn't accomplished enough yet, exactly what magic do you think Sen. McCain would have been able to pull out of his hat to do anything differently? Bush dragged our country into a needless war in Iraq and his economic policies allowed us to be dragged into the worst recession since the depression. If anyone thinks that McCain would have done any better in this short period of time, they are a dreamer!

There are a LOT of questions about Obama but you just want to ignore them. If he is so perfect as you want us to believe, why did he seal all his Medical records? The only proof he is in good health is a doctor's note saying so. "Smokey" as the Secret Service call him must be in perfect health.
