Palin defends Obama birth certificate inquiries

Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.

Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.

Washington (CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended the public's right to question the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate, but noted that she is not demanding for it to be released.

Appearing on conservative radio host Rusty Humphries program, Palin said that she supports people inquiring about it.

"I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue," Palin said in the interview with Humphries. "I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers."

Humphries, whose radio show airs on about 300 stations across the country, went on to press Palin about whether it is "fair" game to ask such questions.

"I think it's a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records - all of that is fair game," Palin responded.

She also criticized her own presidential campaign for not asking enough questions about Obama.

"The McCain-Palin campaign didn't do a good enough job in that area," the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate said. "We didn't call out Obama and some of his associates on their records and what their beliefs were and perhaps what some of their future plans were and I don't think that was fair to voters to not have done our job as candidates.

The interview aired at 10:30 p.m. ET, and just a few hours later Palin made it clear in a posting on her Facebook page that she, personally, is not asking to see it.

"Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose," Palin said. "I've pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States."

If he doesn't have anything to hide, why doesn't he prove it? Oh yea, he's transparent allright.

rod – sorry chump, but she HAS survived. She has survived the most vicious attack every carried out by the state rund media (CNN, MSNBC, etc) and unread people like you in American history. Obama could have never survived such an attack.

I want Palin to run for President. She could have the mayor of Arlington, TN run with her a her V.P. Mayor Wiseman is the one who is claiming Obama deliberatly timed his speech to knock Charlie' Brown's Christmas off the air. the looney fringe keeps getting more and more volcal. They think if they shout louder, more people will follow. No, more people will laugh at them.

Palin and the looney fringe oc conservatives can pretty much assure they will not see the inside of the White House for the next 50 years, if they keep up the "conspiracy" at every turn junk.

The Dems better hope that their secret weapon ( Sarah Palin) stays further away from the media...even the conservative media or she'll totally end any possibility of being a national candidate in '012.

Her fumble/stumble on this issue is just an example of that danger!!!

Well, this is the second day CNN has had this same headline for Palin. Their love affair with this hypocritical phoney is sickening.
With her ego, constant seeking headlines and attention (which
CNN is eager to give her, like no other media), lack of intelligence
and hatred towards those who do not agree with her irresponsible behavior, she will self destruct. You cannot constantly walk on thin
    ice without eventually falling in,

game on, sarah. i th ink the media ought to dig into this woman's past associations, her conflicts of interest as governor – everything.
what's good for the goose is also good for the gander.
one question i would like to have answered – why did it take her 5 or 6 colleges to get a degree in communications – only to be a 'C' average student?
i did it in 3 years with a 3.9 gpa, i know what it takes, and it's not rocket science. (does that mean i am qualified to run for governor – or vice president?)
more importantly – do we really WANT a C average student to be vice president? or a heart beat away from the presidency?
didn;t we already go through that with bush II – and how did that serve the american people?
and where did she end up? alaska? are you kidding me?
she couldn't make it in the lower 48, even with help from the all powerful and (from their perspective) majority republican party, their media networks...and god.
dolus dogma, sarah. nothing but dolus dogma.

What is so wrong with a person who believes in less government? It is funny to me that there are so many inflammatory comments from liberals on this article, and barely any on the issues that really matter. If you all are so sick and tired of her, then why are you wasting your time reading and commenting on it. The Federal Govt. has been growing out of control for years and years, under both parties! This administration just has it's foot on the accelerator. Back to the article, she stated that she thinks it is okay for the people to demand these things from their leaders. She did not say that she was demanding it herself. Such hostility towards someone who "does not matter" to you.

At this point the missing birth certificate is so unimportant... it is much more important that another document is actually missing: I mean where is "The Obama's achievement list document" ???? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that it is an honest upright question. Listen, I had to get a passport and I had to produce not only my birthcertificate, but I had to go get a new certified copy. If an ordinary citizen has to go through the hoops, then by God someone running for President should have to. The question of where is has always been just the can opener for the question of dual citizenship, foreign student loans and grants and a bevy of other questionable and legal challenges. If there is nothing to hide then why hide?

It's amazing how many people here keep asking Obama to prove he was born in Hawaii. He has produced a birth certificate that has been authenticated and newspaper announcements of his birth in Hawaii newspapers have been made public. Unless you believe there was a conspiracy hatched in Kenya at the moment he was born to fake his place of birth just in case, decades later, he ran for President (in which case you are truly insane or inane) then what's the issue? Good grief, even Ann Coulter has dismissed this as a non-issue. Sarah Palin, as we needed more proof, is a dimwit.

There's a new arena for Sarah to go and explain all these Obama "issues" to the public. It's called Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura. I think it's on the sci-fi channel. She should book the show now before the holiday rush! Also.

To question is one thing, to never give up questioning once answers have been given is another. Does anyone really believe that the whole place of birth question would have come up if the President happened to be white? People have been looking for any excuse to discredit President Obama. For those who believe the President hasn't accomplished enough yet, exactly what magic do you think Sen. McCain would have been able to pull out of his hat to do anything differently? Bush dragged our country into a needless war in Iraq and his economic policies allowed us to be dragged into the worst recession since the depression. If anyone thinks that McCain would have done any better in this short period of time, they are a dreamer!

Sarah Palin is a divisive person who makes false accusations and spreads lies. Haven't we had enough of that type of culture in our country?

the american people elected obama for president, not sarah palin, and she will never forgive him for that, and i think part of it is because she is racist. he was and still is the better choice, the right choice.

Nice work, Palin. How about YOUR past associations and voting record, oh wait, you never voted on anything. How about McCain's Panama birth? Did that ever concern you? How about you go away and stop raising dead issues and lobbying your drooling fans for your nomination to something? How about you take your book millions, not to mention the money people are paying you for a 'priceless' photo op with their heroine, and go back to Idaho or Alaska, or wherever you're from.
Since you don't believe, yourself, that Obama is not a citizen, why raise this specter again? (Or was the Facebook retraction a lie, too?) Oh, yeah, your base still wants to believe that our President is unqualified, unlike you, the truly unqualified person getting press. You are truly a piece of the devil's best work, dear Sarah.

Give thanks for Sara Palin – She's not afraid to ask the stupid questions. I hope she runs for President more times than Harold Stassen – thus insuring no more Republican administrations in my lifetime.

ANYTHING. you took such issue with the public wanting to know who you were, but let's pursue this birthing issue. and why this candidate for this issue, hmmmmmm? smells of something old and ugly, Sarah. my god this woman is NUTS! what don't you read, again?

Wow, you Democrats who continue to blast her day and night don't even bother reading the article before posting your hateful comments. There are a LOT of questions about Obama but you just want to ignore them. If he is so perfect as you want us to believe, why did he seal all his Medical records? The only proof he is in good health is a doctor's note saying so. "Smokey" as the Secret Service call him must be in perfect health. If he truly is who he claims to be, why did he have to have lawyers seal all his records? I forgot, he's a democrat, so it's ok to lie and get away with it.

I guess none of you bothered to read Palin's book. It is a very interesting read, for everything she went through thanks to all those who wanted to demonize her. You simply hate any woman who is strong and stands for her beliefs. It doesn't matter what she has to say, you just continue to mock her, saying she can't talk clear sentences. Well, have you ever heard Obama when he doesn't use a Teleprompter? Mr. Uhhh, uhmmm, uh... Yeah, your man can't even come up with an intelligent sentence without stuttering like the fool he is.

Don't you think, if Hilary Clinton had the slightest thought about Obama having a phony birth certificate, she would have been all over that during their eight month long primary battle. Don't you think should would have used that just once. The answer is, she didn't because this whole idea is a total distortion of anything that could possibly be true. I think I know, I live in the right wing consipiracy center of the United States and I am a Democrat but I can't say that to anyone.
