Palin defends Obama birth certificate inquiries

Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.

Sarah Palin says 'members of the electorate still want answers' about President Obama's citizenship.

Washington (CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended the public's right to question the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate, but noted that she is not demanding for it to be released.

Appearing on conservative radio host Rusty Humphries program, Palin said that she supports people inquiring about it.

"I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue," Palin said in the interview with Humphries. "I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers."

Humphries, whose radio show airs on about 300 stations across the country, went on to press Palin about whether it is "fair" game to ask such questions.

"I think it's a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records - all of that is fair game," Palin responded.

She also criticized her own presidential campaign for not asking enough questions about Obama.

"The McCain-Palin campaign didn't do a good enough job in that area," the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate said. "We didn't call out Obama and some of his associates on their records and what their beliefs were and perhaps what some of their future plans were and I don't think that was fair to voters to not have done our job as candidates.

The interview aired at 10:30 p.m. ET, and just a few hours later Palin made it clear in a posting on her Facebook page that she, personally, is not asking to see it.

"Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose," Palin said. "I've pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States."

In a country of more than 300,000,000 people, the concept of less government is absurd unless you're willing to live with some parts of the country in abject poverty while others live like feudal land barons. We tried letting the ultra-rich run this country over the last 8 years and what did it get us? The fact is that the bigger the country gets, the stronger the federal government has to be in order to ensure that we don't end up with the same problems France had back in the 18th century.

Sarah Palin doesn't know how to talk about monetary or foreign policy issues so she talks about Obama's birth certificate even though the whole issue has been debunked by every legitimate fact finding agency, including the United States Congress. She talks to people like they're third graders, which is why the people who support her appear to be so ignorant and misinformed. That's her core support group and it will never change.

When it comes to Palin, the issue is not liberal vs conservative or Democrat vs Republican. It is intelligent vs moronic. She couldn't even choose a competent ghost writer for her book.

    @ James

    I completely agree

For Palin to say that she agrees with the public about Pres Obama submitting his birth certificate tells me that she has NO idea of what the process is to become president. There is always an FBI and OSI full investigation first! Once again, she is an embarrassment to us all. Good Grief. She is either an idiot or she thinks the American people are stupid!!!

The "certification of birth" Obama provided – a printout from a computer on fancy paper the day it was requested – is not the same as a birth certificate (made at the birth, with the signature and embossed seal) and would NOT provide the proof needed to obtain a security clearance which is held by one in thirty Americans.

    For a security clearance:

" For individuals born in the United States, a birth certificate is the primary and preferred means of citizenship verification. Acceptable certificates must show that the birth record was filed shortly after birth and it must be certified with the registrar's signature. It must bear the raised, impressed, or multicolored seal of the registrar's office. "

My question is this. What are liberals so afraid of by releasing information on Obama's background? How DID he get into Harvard with average grades? WHO paid for his Harvard tuition and WHO recommended him? He listened to Rev. Wright for 20 years, said that he was "like an uncle to me," baptised his daughters, plagerized the title of one of Wright's speeches with his book Audacity of Hope, and he didn't know this guy was an American bashing racist? Maybe that is why all of his college records are sealed, this man is obviously to stupid to pour urine out of a boot, let alone be President. Also liberals, can you tell me why you demanded to see the long form birth certificate of a baby with downs syndrome, but call anyone crazy when they ask the President to do the same thing. It's a sad day in America when we know more about the background of a VP candidates children that we do about the POTUS.

I feel dumber just listening to this woman. How anyone in their right mind can belong to either party these days is beyond me. Neither party utilizes full truths anymore.

As an American, I am embarrassed that we even give this woman any coverage or credit for anything she says. She is not anyone to listen to.

Has anyone here seen his long form birth certificate? All who have, please raise your hands!

His own grandmother has said he was born in Kenya. If that is true he was ineligible from the git-go.

Nothing conspiratorial about this question. Liberals didn't have any problem questioning Palin's pregnancy going so far as to suggest it was Bristol's. It was bulloney but it got a lot of space on Daily Kos and the other looney left wing blogs. Total nonsense but to ask to see Obama's long form certificate is entirely legitimate since it has something to do with a long forgotten document the Democrats ignore called the Constitution.

Hey libs, answer this question. Why would Obama pay a law firm (his new appointed general WH Counsel) over $1.7m to hide his vital records including: grade school through law school records, student loan records, college and law school thesis', passports, birth certificate, etc.? If there was nothing to hide why would anybody in their right minds pay this kind of fee? There must be something non-Kosher here. Remember, his student loans were repaid during the primaries to a foreign arab representing a shiek in Saudi Arabia. How would he be able to travel to Pakistan using a US Passport in the 80's if we didn't have diplomatic relations? Someone will turn over this rock and find something very smelly underneath. When this happens, heads will roll.

Even if Obama really ever had US citizenship, he renounced it to travel to Pakistan and to receive scholarships to US colleges and universities as a foreign citizen applicant – applying as Barry Soetoro. That's why he doesn't release his records. They will show he claimed to be a citizen of Indonesia.

Sarah Palin is like Reagan. Freedom and capitalism work – socialism and communism don't – something that is apparent to people with common sense – the first qualification needed for a presidential candidate and something maleducated, malindoctrinated, malevolent leftist elites and their chattering minions fail to grasp.

  13. Let's end Coporate Socialism now Sarah !!!!

I wish to thank you for being honest enough to admit your neurosis in believing such lunacy. Personally, I understand the GOP has been neurotically trying to defend themselves in a stupor after sniveling from their losses in 2008 that will continue. The Country will never agree with the ideology for engagement in the expensive war on terrorism while giving tax cuts to the coporate rich and elite...making middle class and poor citizens fund the war. This is fiscally irresponsible, and becomes the cause of our deficit. Not the fiscally neutral modifications Obama proposes to bring down our debt/deficit. With arguments like these, Republicans become Refiblicans not good for our American economy.

Obama's mother was a US citizen. People need to look up the rules of citizenship with the US State Department to see that a child born to a US citizen, not matter where in the world that is (in this case Hawaii), is a US citizen. Residency requirement for that time frame is 10 years, 5 after the age of 14. Since Hawaii is not a foreign country, it's a mute point anyway. Get over it already. Or maybe we should inquire about the birthdate of Palin's oldest child and her marriage date. We need "proof" to establish good Christian family values.

To believe that Obama is not American you have to believe every Republican and Democrat and the entire Government arm that vets people for public office had to be involved in this scam. Just because Palin was severly under vetted does not mean Obama was. Saying things like this is saying the entire Government allowed a scam like this to happen, and it says that you do not stand up for your country and they would allow an alien to become POTUS. She loves for people to hate, nice human qualities for Sarah and her cult. Too bad she is so dis liked in Alaska, cause it sure would be nice if they would take her back and leave the ret of the country to much more important issues then hate and racism.

Obama was not born in Hawaii, the climate is not changing and Sarah Palin is qualified to be the president of the United States. Apparently, you could show this woman the sky, and she would question the fact that it is blue. I would love it if people would stop allowing themselves to get carried away with this nonsense.

I just love the undercurrent of racism of everything GOP and Conservative. She longs for the good old days back down home on the old plantation. This chick embodies everything that was/is bad in this country. She is a bigger "sessesh" than that KKKlown down is Texas. Both of them should be in jail for treason.

I don't think Silly Sarah really wants "to go there" - I'm sick of her 24/7 media coverage and think it's time to ask her some "real" questions, instead of letting her "pass" if the question's too tough. She is the most negative, conniving, egotistical, incendiary, hateful, fear-mongering, not-too-bright woman I've ever heard. Enough of Sarah, and, no, contrary to some popular opinions, I am NOT AFRAID of Caibou Barbie - she just disgusts me!

There she goes again. . . Palin sure can throw dirt but every time she is challenged on her past she hides behind her children or the cloak of sexism.

As David Brooks of the N.Y. times apty put it: [Palin} is a joke!! This is an understatement. She is as dumb as a rock and very dangerous because facts do not matter to her. She would have been a propaganda queen in the Third Reich.

Was Obama born in this country? Does he have the right to be President? Why hasn't Obama come out publicly and proved that he has an American birth certificate? Forget Palin, she has her own agenda that doesn't seem to be working. What about Obama? Even democrats, if they really believe in America, should be asking this same question. Question Bidens birth certificate or Reids or Bush and and those people would come up with it in a hot minute, so why hasn't Obama? Unless he's got something to hide!

He has provided the birth cert, and it was confirmed by the State of Hawaii? Why didn;t anyone question Bush, Cheney, Clinton, Bush Sr., or Reagan's birth cert. Please get over it.

Where are Obama's medical records ? Where are Obama's academic records ? Why has he surrounded himself with Castro sympathizers ? Where is CNN ?

You obvioulsy have no idea what state run media looks like. Let me guess, you think that Fox news is the only legit news network? The one run by Roger Ailes, a GOP operative and Rupert Mudoch who has claimed that he believes Obama is a racist? The network that cheerleaded the build up to Iraq war, and the one that has been caught twice doctoring photes to inflate the size of anti-Obama rallies.

Who is Obama's Casto sympathizers? Stop taking Beck & Limabugh's talking points and think for yourself.

I would like to point out that the story of the messiah's rapidly falling approval ratings, which was so belatedly published by the CNN arm of the Obama administration, was closed to comments after only five comments. Has anyone else noticed this common practice by CNN? Baghdad Bob would be proud of CNN for being so positive in the face of disaster.
