Steele calls for Ethics Committee hearing on Baucus

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele called for an Ethics Committee hearing on Sen. Baucus Saturday.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele called for an Ethics Committee hearing on Sen. Baucus Saturday.

Washington (CNN)– Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele called for a Senate Ethics Committee hearing to evaluate any possible wrongdoing by Sen. Max Baucus Saturday.

In a statement released by the RNC  Steele said:

"Today's report that Senator Max Baucus used his Senate office to advance a taxpayer funded appointment for his staff-member girlfriend raises a whole host of ethical questions. This issue demands the attention of the Senate Ethics Committee. They should hold a hearing to identify who was involved in this process, what they knew and when they knew it, and why Senator Baucus put his personal needs above those of the people of Montana."

Sen. Max Baucus has no pride, no integrity and currently, no regrets. Perhaps the Senate Ethics committee can investigate and promptly do absolutely NOTHING about it? All these rats should be in jail!

Mr Steele, becareful of throwing stones and living in a GLASS HOUSE. I'm sure everyone on CAPITAL HILL knew of this and the ones that didn't had their heads in the sand.

Mr Baucus, it's best you get off the BLUE DOG kick and VOTE DEMOCRAT on the HEALTHCARE BILL, or face further scrutiny on your liberal practices....

I'm sure glad Steele asked for the same treatment of Senator Ensign with his adultery and cover-up conspiracy – or else he would look foolish ..... again.
Steele is a fool and even when he has a legitimate concern it is meaningless because he is a pathetic joke. But that is why he fits in so well with the rest of the Repub clowns.

  14. I believe

Instead of worrying Baucus, Steele you need to worry about what you gonna do when your own party fires you as their Chairman and yes trust me its just a matter of time before they do. I predict if all goes well for them in 2010, you will be most definitely be a GONER STEELE.

  16. Look who's calling the kettle black..........

    Okay Mr. Steele....
If a Senator attempted to appoint his ex-girlfriend who never was appointed.....there's nothing to probe because the conflict of interest appointment never occured Bozo.
However, I appreciate your temporary fervor over ethics reform issues. Can you manage to maintain your ethics reform fervor for the Republican Senator who paid his mistress' parents $96,000 in gifts and actually completed a conflict of interest appointment for his mistress' husband for keeping him quiet???
Just what I thought Mr. Bozo Steele.....

Sure, the Democrats will get right on that ethics investigation of Baucus. Right after they finish up with the one on Charlie Rangel.

I am NOT happy with the Democrat Max Baucus wanting to "start

Michael Steele won't have to worry about Baucus! The republicans,
who will NEVER stand up for the hard working class people either.
I have NO RESPECT for Michael Steele, the Republican's PUPPET!

So what do we have to choose from: Idiotic, greedy Democrats
like Blanche Lincoln, Max Baucus, Mary Landrieu! who are receiving millions for their personal riches directly paid by the CROOKED INSURANCE COMPANIES!!! My the Insurance companies sure have
a lot of money to throw around! and on terrible "scare tactic" TV ads!!!

    OR Republicans
who "just act like they are working for "the people". Remember Bush and Cheney wanted to "privatize" Social Security. What a disaster that would have been!!!! Putting S.S. in the stock market!!!!! What Republicans voted for that one! And Democrats? Who voted for that?
Transparancy PLEASE! It could have happened to us!!!

Republicans and Democrats alike are getting
paid millions by the BIG INSURANCE companies to STOP the
Health Care Public Option and let us taxpayers pay for their's
and their whole family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our politicians are crooked!!!!!
except for the ones that are voting for a STRONG PUBLIC OPTION!

Ah, the phony outrage from the phony Mr. Steele.

    December 5, 2009 04:16 pm at 4:16 pm |

    Mr. Steele,

I think we should have and ETHICS Committee hearing on all
the Politicians voting against the Health Care Reform STRONG
Public Option for all those Republicans and Democrats that
have "taken", "received" for their personal gain, millions of Dollars from the Insurance

I WANT TO KNOW who took money from the Insurance Companies
to deny Americans Health Care Reform!!!! McCain in Arizona! Did
HE? I heard he lives near AETNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tommygun: Michael Steele can throw stones because there is no scandal against him. And he is right. Why should Bucus not be in the same category as Sanford? He was living with this woman while he was separated from his wife and maybe that's why they separated. Then to get her a top job. He should resign just like Spitzer did.
