Liberal group takes aim at Lieberman

Sen. Joe Lieberman is coming under fire for his opposition to a public option as part of health care reform.
Sen. Joe Lieberman is coming under fire for his opposition to a public option as part of health care reform.

Washington (CNN) - Sen. Joe Lieberman is under fire from a liberal political organization, which is airing a new television commercial this week critical of the Independent's opposition to a public option as part of health care reform.

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee is airing a 30-second ad on stations in Connecticut and the nation's capital in an effort to "pressure" Lieberman to vote for the public option in the Senate health care bill. Lieberman has repeatedly stated he does not support the idea.

The initial ad buy is for $40,000 to air the commercial on broadcast channels in Connecticut and cable outlets in Washington, DC. A fundraising email will be sent this morning asking people to donate money to help keep it on the air. Adam Green, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, said previous fundraising solicitations to pay for commercials aimed at Sen. Max Baucus, D-Montana, and Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Nebraska, "easily passed $100,000."

I'm from CT originally, and this guy definately doesn't represent his constituents. From backstabbing his own ticket during the 2000 election fiasco, to kissing W. on the cheek, to badmouthing Democrats and then keeping his chairs in the senate, it seems like the Dems can't get him out. It's time for this guy to move on to a conservative think-tank or something.

Liberals get a life. If anyone else pushes there agenda the democrats call them Nazis. You are so ignorant to the facts. If you would get out of the butts of Obama, Pelosi and Reid then you might see the truth and grow up. (by the way I am independent not repulican)

I think this is a good thing. Our representatives in congress and the senate need to understand that they should be voting the will of the people.

Despite any propaganda that x number of people are against health care reform and the public option, I just don't believe it.

The only people that I personally know, that are against the public option are hard core Republicans.

It would be better to have a Republican in his seat than to have him in any way involved in politics. I don't think he's a good guy in any way, and that what he wants is good for our country.

The Democrats should have cut liberman out last year when he campaigned for McCain – he is as far from a progressive as you can get – he is republican through and through – he only cares about the rich!!

    What a fraudulent ad.

    Liberals are liars.

Nobody wants a public option. Even if they did, we can’t afford it.

Reform should never cost $849 billion. Just like a “stimulus” bill should have never cost $787 billion.

These libs keep stealing our money and some of us keep cheering them on.

Is anyone else sick of politics today? Special interests and one issue groups are dividing people into mini parties and cuasing even more descention among us.
One of the rules of the Jovoveh Witness's is no involvement in politics. For year's I never understood why since who runs our country is important. But lately I am beginning to see that politic brings out the worst in people and we forget the bottomline- we need to protect and help one another. That is the goalof our goverment and our goal as humans.
    Stop the pettiness.

It should be considered an honor if these idiotic Liberals groups attack you. We don't want the Liberals to destroy our health care, we want them to work on real reform. The plan on the table will NOT save money and will do nothing to control the sky rocketing premiums. The MAJORITY of Americans are against the Public option and politicians know it. Anyone who votes for it, will be booted out of office, next election.

I think it has become increasingly obvious that Lieberman is completely bought and paid for by the insurance industry. Since his current term in all likelihood will be his last he is (understandably) primarily concerned with feathering his own nest. He is determined to sink the health care reform (or, at the very least vote against it) in order to secure his payday. I look forward to a reconciliation maneuver by Reid and a subsequent boot for Lieberman from any committee chairmanship.

Joe Lieberman has been on the wrong side of every issue since before supporting John McCain. That's why the democrates replaced him in the last primary. He is a political opportunist that only cares about his own skin. He does not look at whats good for Connecticut or the U.S.A.

Those in Congress who would deny a public option plan so those without health insurance may obtain it should be thrown out of office. Hopefully, they might have the experience of not having any health insurance and see how God-awful worrisome it is. When I was in the 2nd grade, my teacher asked us if we knew why we were fighting this war (WWII). She said it was because our country cared about a human life. What has happened to our country.....could it be GREED!! I just don't want to believe there are those out there who are this greedy.
