Cheney makes big 2010 prediction

Dick Cheney is predicting the Republican Party is in for a big 2010

(CNN) - As President Barack Obama nears one year in office, Dick Cheney is predicting the Republican Party is in for a big 2010.

"I think we'll pick up a lot of seats," the former vice president told Fox New's Sean Hannity Tuesday. "Prospects for the Republicans in 2010 are very good."

Next November, all 435 seats in the House and more than a third in the Senate are up for grabs. Democrats will be defending their 258-177 margin in the House and 20-seat advantage in the Senate.

Cheney, who is among his party's most fervent critics of the president, said Obama is in a more vulnerable position than anyone predicted one year ago.

"Right after Obama was elected, there was the view that he was invincible," Cheney said. "He raised more money than anybody else. He had a machine that smashed the Clinton campaign and then won the election, and that he'd be around for eight years and now I think that has changed fairly dramatically."

The vice president also said Obama has implemented "radical" far left policies even though he campaigned as a conventional Democrat.

"He got elected as a liberal Democrat, but conventional in the sense of falling within the parameters of the national Democratic Party," Cheney said. "He's demonstrated pretty conclusively now during his first year in office that he's more radical than that, that he's farther outside the parameters…of what we've traditionally had in Democratic presidents in years past."

But Cheney held back from predicting who in his party is best positioned to take on the president come 2012.

"At this point I'd be reluctant to pinpoint anybody," he said. "It might hurt them more than it would help them coming from me."

That's good news and bad news. The good news is that since the major plank in the GOP platform these days is keep the Dems from bankrupting the country, they'll be able to do that more effectively. The bad news is that the self-righteous neo-con bigots will be better able to cram their bible-belt "morality" down everyone's throats.

and we are in the final throes of this thing in iraq...why does a semi-legitimate news organization like cnn give this guy credibility by airing his inane pontifications?

If Cheney thinks Pres. Obama has moved far to the left, ol' Darth has lost his mind. The reason Obama has been a disappointment is that he is not even close to liberal enough. But then Cheney has always been able to say frankly insane things as if they made sense.

As long as all these "gas bags" from the past in the GOP keep talking, the party will get driven further and further into the woods. Here is a clue for you there "DICK", WHEN the GOP finds a fresh face that isn't apart of your Grumpy Old Party re-runners then and only then will the Republicans have a chance at anything other than being a cry baby.

Yep, this is the guy we should listen to alright. He and his sidekick left two wars and a financial mess it will take a miracle to solve in one year. After what Cheney & Bush did to this country over an 8 year period, he should be ashamed to show his ugly face.

Heres an idiot who shot his best friend in the ass, and now he is making predictions like he is from another cosmos!
Isnt there some way to put this fool out on a ranch and tie him up so we never had to deal with him again ?

Just curious–Is this the same Dick Cheney who said that the people of Iraq would welcome the US military incursion with open arms? If so, so much for his predictions....

Dick, why don't you shutup and go away also? You remind me of a frustrated old man who is not getting his way. No political party is perfect and you seem to think that yours is. You are a user and an abuser of the American people.

President is trying to reach across to the Repubs but they won't have none of it. If it is not the Repubs way than it is no way.

Cheney go back into the hole you crawled out of.

For a man who along with his republican cohorts in congress completely and absolutely screwed up everything in this country, who in Hades would believe anything he says. I suppose he is saying it to make the serfs he steps on think they are something.

NOOOOOOO!, if his prediction works as the previous ones, we'll have to endure the dems for another 50 years. Cheney, please go to Iraq and try to find the weapons of mass destructions. I heard some rumors, they will finaly say where they are, but only to you!

If America has learned anything, it's that the country works better when one party does not have both Congress and the White House. I hope, for the sake of the country, that Pelosi is no longer Speaker and Reid no longer Majority Leader in January 2011.

Ah, Dick, poor guy. You must be constantly watching the front door for those cops that will eventually come and arrest you for war crimes. And as far as your predictions, aren't you the one who predicted quick victory in Iraq, and that we would be greeted as "liberators?" How's that prediction working our for you seven years later? You said exactly what Hannity and his viewers want to hear: Obama is evil and Republicans are poised to rebound. Sure.

It makes me sick to hear Cheney talk about politics as if it was a game. The nation and people's lives are at stake. Who cares about who raises the most money?

Dick Cheney has been wrong in just about everything else he has said so I say this prediction is encouraging for Democrats.

After reading Palin's "head in the sand" take on the environment and Cheney's "let's return to those thrilling days of yesteryear," (2001-08, )it's no wonder the Republicans got the US in the mess we are in– both in wars and the economy. The Bush Administration got us in this mess and all the right wingers have done the past year is whine.

Dick says about Obama: " he's farther outside the parameters…of what we've traditionally had in Democratic presidents in years past."
Ummm, just how so? What radical thing has he done? I'd say he's turned out to be more status quo than anyone would have thought. Tricky Dick, you think like the rest of the media, you can plant any ideas in our feeble, amnesiac minds and they will coalesce into reality. Good try bud!

Who cares about Chaneys' comments. He was a member of the worst administration in the history of the US. His policies, yes his, cause the US to lose respect from most of the world.

Maybe he should stick to torture and bird hunting!

You are an evil liar and hid from the public for the entire 8 years that you and your cronies could screwed this great country. Now you won’t shut up. Have some respect, if you can remember what that is….I doubt it.
