Grayson to Cheney: Time to 'STFU'

Grayson to Cheney: Time to ‘STFU’
Grayson to Cheney: Time to ‘STFU’

Washington (CNN) – Outspoken Rep. Alan Grayson has a message for blunt-speaking former Vice President Dick Cheney: stop talking.

Responding to the former VP’s criticism of President Obama’s national security policy, including his decision to try accused 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in civilian court, the Florida Democrat lapsed into Web-speak.

“You know, on the internet there's an acronym that's used to apply to situations like this. It's called ‘STFU,’” Grayson said on MSNBC’s Hardball. “I don't think I can say that on the air, but I think you know what that means.” The letters are an acronym for “shut the f*** up.”

Cheney has been a vocal critic of the president’s policies, telling Fox News earlier this week that the extended decision-making process on Afghanistan “feeds into sort of the basic al Qaeda strategy” by fueling a sense of uncertainty on the future direction of U.S. involvement.

Wow! The Democrats are letting Cheney get to them! If Cheney and the GOP opposition did not matter then the Dems wouldn't have to say such sophmoric things such as this!

As the Dem's said when Bush was in power. “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism,”

Believe or not Grayson. Cheney is a US citizen and be critical of Obama all day and you can't do a darn thing about it other then cry like a little baby boy.

Poltics... I say the Dems should STFU and also stop scaring people with their "sky if falling" BS on global warming (or now "climate change".) Dems should really just talk to a mirror. They are just a bunch of DAMF's.

Grayson – if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. For 8 years we listened to Dems bash Bush at every possible turn. Cheney is as committed to the security of the US as is Obama. He is entitled to voice his opinion on the matter. He has many years of knowledge and experience here, and Obama is still very very green. Until Obama can show that he has a clue about this, I will defer to Cheney.

Hellelujah!!! Tell 'em Grayson! Cheney has been suffering from diarrhea of the mouth ever since he left office. We can only pray that when he gets indicted constipation of same won't set it. It is amazing how the very same people that put us in the ditch and had ample time to avert the disaster are full of criticism for those that are pulling us out of the hole. ST*U indeed!!!!

Classy Representative. Nice job Florida. This is exactly who we want our kids to see in government, someone telling a former vice president to stfu. What a class act – the cy.

The Dems need more folks like Grayson. Fight fire with fire. Funny how Cheney would disappear for months at a time when he was vp (that is purposely not capitalized) but now the old fool can't keep his big mouth shut.

No kidding Cheney "STFU". We didn't get attacked by 'foreign' terrorists (after 9/11), our country was nearly destroyed by the domestic kind masquerading as Republicans. Look at the economic catastrophy that was unveiled once the true evil doers left. Thanks Dick, go plan a tea party.

Grayson says what a lot of people are thinking. Funny how Cheney always operated in the shadows while he was actually in office. Now, he shows up and shoot off his mouth every other day on Fox News. Funny how this is the only media he's comfortable speaking to.

I support this suggestion, eventhough I do not agree with the choice of words. I find it sad that, for a man who has been at the helm of office, a major part of the problems we are all facing and making hard decision on is still out there critizing everything that a new administration is trying do right. I would believe that, FVP Cheney would have stayed out of the spotlight like FPOTUS Bush(no wonder you have like him no matter is faults) and rather work with the administration to get the US back on its track of prosperity.

It is a shame that, the FVP does not only critize, but also stirs up the hatred and division that is gradually being bridged. A good suggestion I would make for Mr Cheney is, he should take some time, kneel and pray for this country and all elected public officer, and go out of his way to give the best advise to them. A good, humble and Godly leader is a true reflection of the rest of the country.

I wish Mr Cheney the best in life and good health, but he should also know that, whatever you sow, you will definitely reap, possibly in many more folds.

I agree Cheney, you ran your Fascist regime for 8 years. You had our troops killed in Iraq so your former company Haliburton could make billions on oil contracts. Time for you to STFU.

We desperately need a functional checks-and-balances system to ensure that we are getting the best out of government, but the constant criticism for criticism's sake practiced by people like Dick Chaney (and, of course, Sarah Palin) is only serving to generate white noise. PLEASE, can we have an intelligent and constructive discussion of the issues of the day, not a rewind of the Monty Python 'Argument Sketch"?

Love Rep. Grayson's comment. It needed to be said. Sometimes you have to have someone like the little boy in "The Emperor's New Clothes", to speak up and say what everyone has been thinking. Cheney is totally naked. He has no clothes, among other things lacking. He's had his time in the spotlight and has done a miserable job ot it. How dare him try to second guess anyone! And, how dare us to allow it one second longer. Thank you Rep. Grayson.

Regardless of where we stand on issues, nobody in the US should be told to STFU when voicing their opinion. This was an immature response by Grayson.

typical response from the left. don't like the message and/or the messenger then silence is in order. no room for dissent. the big tent isn't so big after all.

I love Alan Grayson. He cuts through the bull and tells it like it is. Cheney is a war-mongering, torturing, liar that should be thrown in prison.

He's brash and a little crass, but I kind of like it. It's about time a Democrat stands up to all the fearmongering. They should send Cheney and his cronies somewhere on the ROFLCOPTER.
