Palin on Obama speech: 'I liked what he said'

'I liked what he said,' former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said of the president's Nobel acceptance speech.
'I liked what he said,' former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said of the president's Nobel acceptance speech.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin had some rare praise Thursday for President Obama after the president delivered his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech in Oslo. But the former Republican vice presidential nominee added that she would like to see the president act more like his predecessor, George W. Bush.

"I liked what he said," Palin told USAToday in an interview after the speech.

Palin said the president's remarks had a familiar ring. "I thumbed through my book quickly this morning to say 'Wow! That really sounded familiar.' because I talked in book too about the fallen nature of man and why war is necessary at times."

But Palin suggested Obama could learn a few things from former President Bush.

"We have to stop those terrorists over there," she told the paper. "We've learned our lesson from 9/11. George Bush did a great job of reminding Americans every single day that he was in office what that lesson is. And, by the way, I'd like to see President Obama follow more closely in the footsteps of George Bush and [Bush's] passion keeping the homeland safe, his passion for respecting – honoring our troops."

Palin is the second prominent Republican to praise Obama's speech accepting the Nobel Prize, after former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called it "very good."

Polls indicate that most Americans believe the award was given to the president prematurely. In his remarks, Obama acknowledged the controversy as he accepted the esteemed international prize after less than a year in the White House.

"I receive this honor with deep gratitude and great humility," Obama said in the speech. "Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize ... my accomplishments are slight."

Nice to see that Sarah is at last making some sense. She still tried to put some spin on the whole reaction to the speech. I think that maybe she is learning a little bit about how things work. Who knows maybe she will finally figure it all out. Maybe someday.

I should hold my tongue but McCain truly hated the United States when he wanted this bimbo to be his VP running mate. Any respect I had for the ex pow went out the door. As far as you rightwing neocon cowards are concerned the nearest recruiting office can use you sorry asses as cannon fodder instead of those real americans who put up.

Wow Sarah is truly delusional if she "thinks" Obama took anything from her book. She is such a child, very immature. she didn't mean what she said as a compliment.

So, Palin liked what Obama said because it reminded her of what she said in her book... or, that is, what her ghostwriter said she might have said had she been able to say something coherent. And she wishes Obama honored our troops more like Bush did... by, say, rushing into a war with a nation that didn't attack us and posed no threat. What an epic half-wit.

"President Obama (should) follow more closely in the footsteps of George Bush ... his passion for respecting – honoring our troops."

So Sarah you mean like honoring our troops by censoring the media and censoring Americans' ability to view the coffins of our fallen soldiers? Is that the way a President should honor our troops? Perhaps to Sarah they no longer matter as they are DEAD.

Sarah Palin has no shame. Her book was ghost-written, but that hasn't stopped her from trying to take credit, in some manner, for parts of President Obama's speech.

What Bush did was 1. Be negligent and let 9/11 happen and 2. Use fear to manipulate people afterward. That's not admirable.

Sarah Palin is such a great conservative... except where she has a job, an opinion, isn't pregnant or otherwise contradicts traditional female characteristics in a patriarchal world.

Let we never forget her explanation for having international experience, "I can see Russia from my house."

There are a million better conservative women that are capable of embodying the core values of religious capitalism, er Conservatism. Please find a replacement.

when asked if he would read Palin's book, President Obama said:

"I probably will not', but I wish her well, you know. It looks like she's going to do very well without my readership."

While disturbed, I'm not surprised that Sarah Palin would insinuate Obama lifted that from her prattle...

Of course Sarah had to page through her book to find the content, because she didn't say it, and she didn't write it... just sounded familiar! Counting the ways that this woman makes a fool of herself is a full time job.
