(CNN) – Sarah Palin had some rare praise Thursday for President Obama after the president delivered his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech in Oslo. But the former Republican vice presidential nominee added that she would like to see the president act more like his predecessor, George W. Bush.
"I liked what he said," Palin told USAToday in an interview after the speech.
Palin said the president's remarks had a familiar ring. "I thumbed through my book quickly this morning to say 'Wow! That really sounded familiar.' because I talked in book too about the fallen nature of man and why war is necessary at times."

But Palin suggested Obama could learn a few things from former President Bush.
"We have to stop those terrorists over there," she told the paper. "We've learned our lesson from 9/11. George Bush did a great job of reminding Americans every single day that he was in office what that lesson is. And, by the way, I'd like to see President Obama follow more closely in the footsteps of George Bush and [Bush's] passion keeping the homeland safe, his passion for respecting – honoring our troops."
Palin is the second prominent Republican to praise Obama's speech accepting the Nobel Prize, after former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called it "very good."
Polls indicate that most Americans believe the award was given to the president prematurely. In his remarks, Obama acknowledged the controversy as he accepted the esteemed international prize after less than a year in the White House.
"I receive this honor with deep gratitude and great humility," Obama said in the speech. "Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize ... my accomplishments are slight."

or.....maybe she's someone telling the truth because OUR President has finally spoken like an an American.....not an international apologist
He can learn a lot from former President Bush. He can learn to do nothing that Bush did.
Dear Aspen Professor,
Though you say they were "liars to the core" , your president Oblamya is now following the Bush Doctrine pretty much to the letter.
He can learn a lot from former President Bush. He can learn exactly what not to do.
If you think Pres. Obama sounds like W you are tone deaf.
Is Palin trying to elevate herself to the Obama level? What a tragedy she feels qualified to comment on a deep thinking and eloquent President.
I laughed when I read this. "We need a president more like George W. Bush!" Now we know she doesn't plan to run for office.
I'd rather be an Alaskan hillbilly than an Anaheim flatlander urby-dweller loser. Palin earned her stripes and has lived a normal life unlike your savior messiah Obama who has virtually no experience for the job whereas Palin is more than qualified.
She "thumbed" through her book just like she "thumbed" through writing it. If she has written the book – no "thumbing" necessary.
She thumbed through a book! Good job Sarah, Good Job! Yes it was. Yes it was. A goo goo goo.
Palin's comments are a sad testament to her lack of ability to think for herself and say something original. What an opportunist! And a bad one at that! I hope Tiger had the good sense to stay away from her!
This low qualified person really should listen to some of the other wonderful things that the President had to say over the past couple of years. Maybe she should be quoting some of his things. She lives, she has a life and she is a dope.
Did she mean tell them mission accomplished and then years later after more fighting let the next guy pick up the pieces and tell them we have more work to do? What an air head.
'And, by the way, I'd like to see President Obama follow more closely in the footsteps of George Bush and [Bush's] passion keeping the homeland safe, his passion for respecting – honoring our troops."'
Why does this woman feel the need to make EVERYTHING about her? If she wants to praise the speech, fine. Say, "It was a good speech, and I think there was a lot of good things in it, such as..." Don't make it seem like he got the idea from you; he didn't.
It's like those Windows 7 commercials where they people describe what they wanted then go, "Windows 7 was MY idea." No, it wasn't. Stop acting like it was and shut up.
you have to give your head a shake with comments like her's!!the president's speech this morning was on so early in edmonton, alberta but i did set my alarm so i too could take a little time to listen to such a uplifting awesome speech!we canadians really do care what happens south of the border. any more remarks about palin should not be said today.
Sarah Palin.....You go girl........The liberal extremists are running scared.
Also, it's amusing that she had to thumb through her book quickly to remember what was in it. Forgotten what your ghost-writer said already, Palin?
Palin is a sick woman, she's beyond help. She's fortunate enough to be good looking. It all ends there !!! Sarah, get a clue; Bush policies were voted OUT !!! Cronyism, corruption, lying to the American public to start a war with a country that did NOT attaqck us 9/11, and the worst economy since THE GREAT DEPRESSION, losing 700,000 a MONTH on Bush's way out of office !!!
You people do realize him winning the noble peace prize is a complete joke right?
Do you know his nomination was put in 2 weeks after he was in office. So in 2 weeks he did enough to win this prize? Really?
Dont know what he will do in the future and maybe someday he would have deserved it but them giving it to him now makes the award a complete joke.
2 Weeks? Really? The guy was still unpacking never mind saving the world.
if Obama starts acting more like Bush then we're all screwed. Although come to think of it, we're not that far from it right now...
Did Palin learn to read her own book to see that history and the Bible teaches us that war is in our make-up and sometimes inevitable when our safety and way of life are threatened?Does she know that the definition of traditional warfare changed in Afghanistan? If Obama can bring warring factions together to create peace, then mission accomplished. Perhaps the Nobel Committee acted on this broader definition and sees Opeace as the result of a strong American presence.
Sure war is sometimes justified. But the Taliban? ...A foreign government whose sole crime was not extraditing criminals to the US? Sounds like France.
We're not even fighting Al Qaeda anymore.
Sarah Palin has to flip through her own book to see what she wrote?
Oh, puh-lease, Ms. Palin. The more you speak out, the dumber you appear. Go take care of your offspring!
Awesome.. They ask her what she thought about the president speech, and she uses the opportunity to try and sell her book.. Basically saying that she already covered this, and you can own the information too for $19.99.. But wait.. there's more! If you order now, you'll her how much our current president needs to learn from our previous president who had a great approval rating, 106% approval rating at his lowest!!!!
