Palin on Obama speech: 'I liked what he said'

'I liked what he said,' former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said of the president's Nobel acceptance speech.
'I liked what he said,' former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said of the president's Nobel acceptance speech.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin had some rare praise Thursday for President Obama after the president delivered his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech in Oslo. But the former Republican vice presidential nominee added that she would like to see the president act more like his predecessor, George W. Bush.

"I liked what he said," Palin told USAToday in an interview after the speech.

Palin said the president's remarks had a familiar ring. "I thumbed through my book quickly this morning to say 'Wow! That really sounded familiar.' because I talked in book too about the fallen nature of man and why war is necessary at times."

But Palin suggested Obama could learn a few things from former President Bush.

"We have to stop those terrorists over there," she told the paper. "We've learned our lesson from 9/11. George Bush did a great job of reminding Americans every single day that he was in office what that lesson is. And, by the way, I'd like to see President Obama follow more closely in the footsteps of George Bush and [Bush's] passion keeping the homeland safe, his passion for respecting – honoring our troops."

Palin is the second prominent Republican to praise Obama's speech accepting the Nobel Prize, after former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called it "very good."

Polls indicate that most Americans believe the award was given to the president prematurely. In his remarks, Obama acknowledged the controversy as he accepted the esteemed international prize after less than a year in the White House.

"I receive this honor with deep gratitude and great humility," Obama said in the speech. "Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize ... my accomplishments are slight."

Did Palin learn to read her own book to see that history and the Bible teaches us that war is in our make-up and sometimes inevitable when our safety and way of life is threatened? Does she know that the definition of traditional warfare changed in Afghanistan? If Americans can bring warring factions together or subdue the enemy, then mission accomplished. Perhaps the Nobel Committee acted on this broader definition and sees Obama as a peace agent and peace as the result of a strong American presence. Less cynicism! Give peace and Obama a chance.

So nice to see all the ad-hominem's against someone who is actually complimenting "Dear Leader"

Frankly, I think Palin's being too generous, especially following President Obama's America bashing tour throughout this year.

And by the way for those of you still seething with anger over Iraq, we're still there aren't we? And we're ramping it up in Afghanistan. President Obama understands the importance of a victory in Iraq and Afghanistan and I appreciate that. It seems that some need to stop living in their heydays of 1960s, grow up, and start living in reality.

She had to "thumb through it" because she didn't actually write it (Lynn Vincent did).

    well...

Obama was elected because he "wasn't Bush" so why would he start acting like him now? (although if Rahm E. or David A. told him to start acting like GWB he's probably do it.)

Ms. Palin states she wishes President Obama would act more like George W. Bush, unarguably the most failed occupant the White House has ever seen.

This is an absolute indication of how out of touch Ms. Palin truly is. For anyone to suggest a person should act more like George W. Bush is a position so outrageous – so despicable – it defies even a ridiculous explanation.

I am sad for our country and the vile, vulgar influence people like Ms. Palin have on the country's weak-minded residents. I don't know what can be done to rid our country of the likes of Palin, Cheney, Kyl, Graham, McCain, Cornyn, Boehner, Bachus, King, ad nauseum. Their anti-American, anti-Human Rights, anti-everything but business postures are the bane of our society.

Sarah Palin is an example of why we should tell our prom queens and beauty pageant girls "You're not smart, only pretty. Stay pretty and let the smart kids do all the talking and decision-making." Instead of patting your pretty princess daughters on the head saying "Of course, you can do ANYthing darling! You're a pretty princess and pretty princesses are always right!" Because then they might grown up to be like Sarah palin... spoiled and stupid, and too spoiled and stupid to KNOW she's spoiled and stupid.

Why not take 200,000 of your MILLIONS, and take the ride into space! And while you are there, stop by the Space Station, and STAY THERE!!!!!

Not believing her for a moment. She's a textbook example of an opportunistic sociopath. Anything that comes out of her mouth is only to pad her pocket for the future or make her look good. She don't give one ioda about President Obama. Seriously, do you really buy anything nice she'd ever say with out seeing what she's got behind her back?

I cringe at how stupid you are Palin. "You thumbed through your book" and thought what Obama said sounded familiar? Obama, unlike you, has a brain and the ability to make a coherent sentence and paragraph. I highly doubt he says things that are found in your book.

Be more like his predecessor? You got your ass kicked in the election because you were like his predecessor. Or that's right you forgot that it was your stupidity and similarity to Bush that cost you the election. People wanted a change you dummy.

Learn to form a coherent point idiot.
