Palin on Obama speech: 'I liked what he said'

'I liked what he said,' former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said of the president's Nobel acceptance speech.
'I liked what he said,' former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said of the president's Nobel acceptance speech.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin had some rare praise Thursday for President Obama after the president delivered his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech in Oslo. But the former Republican vice presidential nominee added that she would like to see the president act more like his predecessor, George W. Bush.

"I liked what he said," Palin told USAToday in an interview after the speech.

Palin said the president's remarks had a familiar ring. "I thumbed through my book quickly this morning to say 'Wow! That really sounded familiar.' because I talked in book too about the fallen nature of man and why war is necessary at times."

But Palin suggested Obama could learn a few things from former President Bush.

"We have to stop those terrorists over there," she told the paper. "We've learned our lesson from 9/11. George Bush did a great job of reminding Americans every single day that he was in office what that lesson is. And, by the way, I'd like to see President Obama follow more closely in the footsteps of George Bush and [Bush's] passion keeping the homeland safe, his passion for respecting – honoring our troops."

Palin is the second prominent Republican to praise Obama's speech accepting the Nobel Prize, after former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called it "very good."

Polls indicate that most Americans believe the award was given to the president prematurely. In his remarks, Obama acknowledged the controversy as he accepted the esteemed international prize after less than a year in the White House.

"I receive this honor with deep gratitude and great humility," Obama said in the speech. "Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize ... my accomplishments are slight."

Frankly, it should be obvious they are playing good cop/bad cop with us. Obama might be marginally better for the environment and our "feelings", but he's still strangling us all with his ties to bing banks.

Prof- you might want to check some other polls. More and more Americans are waking up to the clear understanding that this administration has stretched the truth and all out lied about many important points. While I'm not comparing this administration to the past, I can say that this administration is putting us on a crash course for uncertainty.

I'm pleased that Sarah Palin liked what the president had to say when accepting his award. However, to even hint that his speech sounded like something from her book is an assbackwards way of calling him a plagerist and also makes me wonder how and why she was asked for her opinion of his speech. Do Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh have bench seats along with other right wing conservatives hanging on Sarah's every word right outside her door in view of Russia?

Why does the media care what Sarah Palin thinks? She's is no longer a governor because of her own doing. She is not smart or intelligent as she's shown Americans over and over again in countless interviews. She talks at dizzying speed and most of it does not make sense. She is old news already!

Oh my god ... I can't stop laughing. Palin and the media that gives her the light of day are a joke. So, according to Palin, President Obama is using talking points from Palin's book. This woman is delusional.

Why is it that even when Sarah Palin thinks she's saying something smart she always sounds like a complete ignorant idiot? This woman seems to believe all the hype surrounding her without taking a close look at the source of the hype... other like minded, ignorant, Americans. Her opinions do not matter to me. She is useless and an embarrassment to Americans!!!

President Obama, keep making us proud! Your sophistication and intelligence is exemplary. Qualities all Americans should strive for.

Wrong Sarah – Mr. Obama is cleaning up the mess that W. left us with. W. had to "remind us every day" because fear appeals to ignorance and that was the only way his administration could muster support. Mr. Obama spoke with humility and recognized there is much to do. W. never showed humility, only arrogance (mission accomplished?). I seriously doubt that Mr. Obama learned his perspective on the world and human kind by reading your extra 15 minutes of fame ghost written novel.
Somewhere in Alaska a village is missing its idiot.

Lest we forget, 9/11 happened on the Bush administration's watch. The Bush/Cheney cabal ignored intelligence suggesting an attack was imminent. For Palin to suggest Obama become more like Cowboy George shows her ongoing ignorance of global affairs. The woman is downright scary.
