(CNN)– Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made an appearance Friday night on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, where she poked some fun at William Shatner.
Earlier this year, the actor made fun of Palin by reading some of her tweets during an appearance on The Tonight Show. Friday, Shatner continued by reading excerpts from her book "Going Rogue."
"I always remind people from outside of our state right that there is plenty of room for Alaska's animals. Right next to the mashed potatoes," Shatner read.
Then, Palin surprised the audience with her appearance and decided it was time for some payback.
"I think it's appropriate that I read a few choice excerpts from Mr. Shatner's autobiography," Palin declared. "I attended my first Star Trek convention in November 1975. The money they offered me to attend this convention was… do I dare? Yes, I do. Out of this world."
According to an aide traveling with Palin, she mingled with other guests including Tony Bennett and Zack Braff after her appearance, and wore the red jacket from her book cover for the last time.

And the media just can't stop talking about Sarah Palin! Face it, she's on center stage to stay. After all the denigrating remarks for the past year, she's still around, and stronger than ever. Go Sarah!
Is it me or does Sarah Palin have to respond to every little criticism directed at her? We don't have the time to hear it and she doesn't have the life expectancy to accomplish it. She would be better off focusing on things she can control. I actually wish her luck because I think she genuinely wants to seek high office. However, she's got a lot of brushing up to do (including becoming more intelligent). Please focus on that instead of your critics Mrs. Palin.
Please! Please! Please stop trying to be funny. Conservatives cannot be funny. Why do you think there are no right wing comedy shows. Shatner is funny. Palin is....anything but. Take some advise from Tiger.Take a break. A BIG break. Just how much more atention (money) do you think you need?

Why the media particularly CNN is still continuing to cover anything related to Palin. Just listening to her mindless rants irritates me. I would never want to see her in any position of political prominence of any party.
Did you hear the loud applause from the audience when she entered the stage? Yes, the public loves her. The 300 negative comments that are written about her on every article CNN posts; happens to be the same people every time and the total viewership. Her appearance on the Oprah show, the loud audience applause after each question she answered was purposely edited. It was Oprah's largest viewership in years. Negative insults and name calling only ignites her Republican and Independent favorability ratings. And remember, that consists of 66% of this country. Please keep it up, she's only one point below Obama so far. And also, watch how Obama's poll numbers are falling like a lead anchor, and more and more people want Bush back. This is priceless!!!

WOW if it isn't the know nothing palin again. palin you should get a reality check, people aren't laughing with you but at you. For all you hillbillies and old cooties,you need to take yours hands out your pants and stop dreaming about this night 'mare of a woman. And palin will you please stop banging your head up against those oak trees the pain is telling you to cease and desist.
While I think its appropraite for politicians to express humor and even to appear on the late night shows, it does nothing to make them look statemenlike to lower themselves to personal attacks on entertainers.
These attempts have bombed before (Dan Quayle's attacks on Candice Bergen, Bill Clinton's attacks on Sister Souljah, and even Sarah Palin's attacks on David Letterman) and have bombed specifically because the entertainers have nothing at stake, while the politician does...his/her credibility.
When will Sarah Palin and her handlers understand that a statesmanlike response to Shatner would be laugh and say something like..."Isn't William Shatner a funny man? I know he makes me laugh"...thus defining Shatner as an entertainer, not a credible political commentator?
