(CNN)– Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made an appearance Friday night on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, where she poked some fun at William Shatner.
Earlier this year, the actor made fun of Palin by reading some of her tweets during an appearance on The Tonight Show. Friday, Shatner continued by reading excerpts from her book "Going Rogue."
"I always remind people from outside of our state right that there is plenty of room for Alaska's animals. Right next to the mashed potatoes," Shatner read.
Then, Palin surprised the audience with her appearance and decided it was time for some payback.
"I think it's appropriate that I read a few choice excerpts from Mr. Shatner's autobiography," Palin declared. "I attended my first Star Trek convention in November 1975. The money they offered me to attend this convention was… do I dare? Yes, I do. Out of this world."
According to an aide traveling with Palin, she mingled with other guests including Tony Bennett and Zack Braff after her appearance, and wore the red jacket from her book cover for the last time.

Has her family fallen totally to the wayside?
I met Bill Shatner back on the set in the making of 1963 Twilight Zone episode entitled "Nightmare at 20,000 feet." Bill Shatner is one great actor and a person that could really put this dumb Sarah Palin in her place...maybe in the monster's costume of that episode would be a good place for her!

Stop putting her in the news. Have discovered this lady has been shielded by Alaska government for illegal activities. Laws in Alaska are for protecting their government officials. AG is and ethics committee are appointed by the presiding Governor. Bias in favor of the of the governor most definitely exists, and was quite obvious with toopergate investigation. Sarah Palin/her family were quilty of trying to get her brother inlaw fired. Alaska didn't have all those lawmakers indicted by FBI up in Alaska for running good honest government. Sarah Palin had nothing to do with cleaning up these lawmakers. FBI did. Their investigation started long before Sarah Palin a elected governor. But she just capialized in all the indicted officials when she ran to be elected, and then claimed she did it herself. This was not true. As for all the ethics complaints – they were not trivial. But her self appointed ethics committee just whitewashed. And her appointed AG helped. All concerning Sarah Palin appears to have been a huge political coverup. And it still exists to this day. Sad to discover as I am a registerd Republican. I was initially so excited she was selected. This soon turned to huge alarm.
This woman is toxic to our country, yet everwhere you turn, there she is. I can't believe the attention paid to ignorance, especially by CNN. Is it a trend or a plot? Who was it that said something to the effect that when facism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross?
Facism, defined by Wikipedia: "a political ideology that seeks to combine radical and authoritarian nationalism with a corporatist economic system ..."
Well, there you go. "Drill baby drill."

I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin, but I did enjoy her brief appearance and poking fun at William Shatner. Hopefully Shatner will take it in stride, as I don't the Palin intended her appearance to be hurtful or mean.
I really just thought the whole thing was hysterical and I applaud them both!
there was a food and fuel crisis in alaska and she didnt even go to the site, very POTUS Bush like, shows you what kind of governor she was and to think, she wants to run for POTUS
Boy..., I'm sure getting burned out on all the Sara Palin stories. When she has something positive to offer society, please let me know. I think CNN should consider that if all there is to report in sensationalized tabloid fluff, let's leave it to Fox.

Recent Polls indicate the American Tea Party is more popular than the entire Republican Party, go figure.
Given the outrageous tea baggers and the texan hypocrites who routinely rely on offshore tax havens to protect their billions of american dollars from the IRS, you would think those wing-nuts would be pretty far down on the bottom feeders list!
Not so, the Republican party is lagging far behind the tea baggers in popularity.
Sarah Palin is a wonderful spokesperson for the Republican Party, I hope she teams up with Dick Cheney as the GOP nominates to take on President Obama in his second term. She can quote poetry, and Dick 'shooter' Cheney can sit back and glare with an occasional grunt to the cheering Republican crowd.
Great show! The audience loved her. GO SARAH!!! Regardless of her future aspirations, i think she deserves some good times considering the clobbering her family took. God Bless You Mrs. Palin!!

Golly, Sarah certainly has a thin skin. Not one person has said anything about Sarah that she didn't come back swinging against them in one way or another. Can you imagine if Obama did that, he'd be at the podium 24 hrs. per day countering the terrible things people say about him.
I think this shows Sarah can take it AND dish it out. Shatner seemed to handle it O.K. The only problem is that it lends some credibility to that slug, Letterman.
