Washington (CNN) - Computer technicians have recovered about 22 million Bush administration e-mails that the Bush White House had said were missing, two watchdog groups that sued over the documents announced Monday.

The e-mails date from 2003 to 2005, and had been "mislabeled and effectively lost," according to the National Security Archive, a research group based at George Washington University. But Melanie Sloan, executive director of the liberal-leaning Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), said it could be years before most of the e-mails are made public.

"The e-mails themselves are not what we're getting," Sloan said.

Will you folks all be o.k. when Pres. Obama decides not to release all the emails for reasons of national security?

It is laughable to hear you so called conservatives call other people nut jobs, isn't that tha pot calling the kettle black? Anyway, I for one will be curious to know how in the world one white house administration almost destroyed the world as we know it. How very Bush and Cheney of them to all of sudden "lose" millions of emails. Face it you so called conservatives, 2000-2008 will go downs as one of the darkest moments in American History, period. I am one to believe that if the Bush Administration commited war crimes, then they should be tried. And I will say the same for the Obama Administration as well. So there you go so called conservatives, not all of us, well, none of us real Americans give our guy a free pass as all of you so called conservatives did between 2000-2008 and in a lot of ways still are by defending those mouth breathers you elected in office.

Wouldn't it be fun to see some former federal prosecutors such as David Iglesias et al thumb through these emails...............

And then get reappointed by the Obama administration to apply the scales of justice appropriately?

Naw, Obama will just let the filthy rats off the hook again.

I wonder how long it has taken Obama's minions to write 22 million emails (almost a year according to my South Park calendar)...no wonder they haven't been getting anything done.

    Glad they "discovered" them.

Perhaps those weapons of mass destruction will be found quietly tucked away in the "lost" e-mails. Yet another example of the lack of respect held by the prior administration for the law, the office of the President, and the American people. Still, I don't see Bush as the main bad guy, just a stooge for Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rove. I'm loving the comments by the rabid right on here, by the way. You people are a hoot!

So i suppose when emails you dont understand from intellectuals you hate are stolen from a major climate change research institute, its ok for rightwingers to be up in arms. But when emails which were deliberately lost turn up from Shrub's administration, its all "how's health care reform going?".

typical of the sheer incompetence of the Bush adminstration. hopefully none of it was sensitive or gave comfort to the enemy or exposed us to terrorism. Glad Bush and Cheney and the rest of the jerks are gone.

Best case scenario: Bush and Cheney, especially, will finally stand trial for war crimes. Maybe they can hold the trial at the federal courthouse in New York City.

Worst case scenario: Obama will help cover up for the war criminals as he's already done way too much.

After the damage that the Bush administration has done they should be made public and held accountable for running this country into the ground, then the bankers need to be held accountable, don't come the the American tax payers again because your loan will be denied. They should have let you fell the first time, and for the greed Health Insurance company who have the republicans in your pockets I hope they take away your anti trust you don't even rate to have it.We haven't forgotten that the GOP and fat cats are the ones who started this mess, it happen on your watch the downward spiral of this country.Just keep on saying no and you will be shown the door as well.

Does anyone believe it's coincidence these are coming to light right now? Who wants to be Obama's people found these the day after his inauguration, and have been sitting on them, waiting for a moment when they might need a strategic distraction to keep the public from seeing what's really going on with the current administration?

Any second-rate magician knows most people will watch the hand that's moving, the hand the magician is looking at, and not the other hand. Keep your eye on the other hand.
