(CNN) - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger – who has backed strict new emissions controls to combat climate change – made a comment Tuesday that's sure to raise some heat, especially in GOP circles.
The Republican governor of California is questioning the motives of a high-profile opponent of the idea: Sarah Palin.
The former Republican vice presidential nominee and former Alaska governor has questioned whether human activity contributes to climate change, and written op-eds blasting the cap and trade policy promoted by the Obama administration to limit emissions. Last week, she called on President Obama to boycott the Copenhagen conference.
"You have to ask: what was she trying to accomplish?" Schwarzenegger, in Copenhagen for the international climate change summit, told the Financial Times. "Is she really interested in this subject or is she interested in her career and in winning the (Republican presidential) nomination? You have to take all these things with a grain of salt."
Palin, dubbed a climate change "denier" by Al Gore, slammed the former vice president for promoting "doomsday scenarios": "Climate change is like gravity – a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it," she wrote in a Facebook post last week.

I like Arnold, but the scientific community has defrauded the scientific debate on global warming to the point that serious questions should be addressed before the US commits to lower GDP and living standards.

I bet that the hot air that comes from Sarah's mouth is a human activity that has contributed to the melting of some of Alaska's glaciers.
In this instance, Palin is right...climate changes have taken place forever and will continue. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with tightening emission standards to better our environment. While I do not believe it will slow, stop, or have any impact on the climate changes, it will make our air easier to breathe and cause less harm to our environment and ecosystems in general.
I don't usually agree with Arnold, but he's bold to say what he said.

Palin speaks out of both sides of her mouth or speaks without giving any thought to what she is saying or how it will come back to slap her in the face.........She FIRST started the Doomsday scenario by saying the Health Care Bill had the DEATH PANEL so she has no right to lable other people for what they say..........glad to see that someone in the Republican party has the guts to call her out........the rest of the GOP is afraid if they say anything about her that the right wing conservative nuts will not vote for them.......they are only looking at every issue that faces this country in the amount of votes they can get, they aren't concerned with what the people of this country are going through or what we care about......

Al gore showed up at NASA and said he could solve global warming if they could fly him to the surface of the sun. NASA informed him they couldn't do that, he'd burn up.
Gore replied "Hello...not if we go at night. Duh!"

So, did anyone see where Gore had to admit at the conference that he misquoted the scientist he bases the majority of his statements about there being no ice at the polar caps within ten years....because the scientist called him out for misquoting him?

To be fair, Alaska is really cold. Palin may be greedy for a little Arctic warming. That said, when the permafrost melts it will threaten the oil pipelines... Hmm, what is the average Alaskan to do?
