(CNN) - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger – who has backed strict new emissions controls to combat climate change – made a comment Tuesday that's sure to raise some heat, especially in GOP circles.
The Republican governor of California is questioning the motives of a high-profile opponent of the idea: Sarah Palin.
The former Republican vice presidential nominee and former Alaska governor has questioned whether human activity contributes to climate change, and written op-eds blasting the cap and trade policy promoted by the Obama administration to limit emissions. Last week, she called on President Obama to boycott the Copenhagen conference.
"You have to ask: what was she trying to accomplish?" Schwarzenegger, in Copenhagen for the international climate change summit, told the Financial Times. "Is she really interested in this subject or is she interested in her career and in winning the (Republican presidential) nomination? You have to take all these things with a grain of salt."
Palin, dubbed a climate change "denier" by Al Gore, slammed the former vice president for promoting "doomsday scenarios": "Climate change is like gravity – a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it," she wrote in a Facebook post last week.

Here's the issue. By the sheer volume of airborne waste we're creating, we're doing something to the atmosphere. It's like we're the volcano but in slow motion. We know that volcanic activity adversely affects the quality of the balance of gases in the atmosphere, and not
repeat not in our favor. So the bottom line is, if we guess we're not adversely affecting the planet atmosphere and we're wrong ...we're dead. If we do something and take balanced but continued and effective action towards cleaning up the power generating and usage and we're wrong then, no harm done. All this extreme talk is meant to polarize us (left and right), don't let them do it.

People confuse climate and weather. Weather changes day by day and depending on the season. Climate is the temperature, humidity, and precipitation of a place over a long period of time. So, observing that it is snowing in December has no bearing on the issue. You have to look at the long term trajectory. For example, if the average temperature in NC in December was 40 F in 1950, 42 in 1960, 44 in 1970, 48 in 1980, 50 in 1990, 52 in 2000 and 55 in 2009 – it doesn't matter that it happened to be 40F today (that's the weather, not the climate).

Global warming is just like gravity. Huh. They didn't cover that connection in my physics class. Must have been taught by some idiot with a PhD in physics.
I should taken a Biblical Physics course on-line from Oral Roberts Univ....like Palin. Then I'd know how Time can go backward (at least, Republicans certainly hope it can) and how the Earth can occasionally rotate in reverse.

Two things must be remembered about this subject. By reducing carbon ouput(and reducing global warning), there are two good byproducts.
1. Less oil imported from the middle east.
2. Less pollution from coal, etc. Last I read, all fish in the US now contain some mercury due to coal burning.
The above items are worth the carbon reduction efforts to me, global warming or not.
Palin absolutely has no clue about things that are intelligent or requires thought.. How can anyone be serious about considering her for presidency????
