Can't wait to see how utopia (the 800 health care pound gorilla) lands on Louisiana Ms. Landrieu. I’m sure your name will be carried forward in vain for some time to come.

"Only 14 percent of senior citizens think they would be helped by the bill. Among people under 50, that rises to 26 percent."

The idiotic democrats should never be elected into office again. They could care less what the people really want. This is what happens when you elect lunatics like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid into office and when you elect a third-world raised socialist dictator-wannabe like Barry Hussein Obama.

Big surprise, wonder what she and here State were promised? Obama Administration politics is equal to bribes, collusion, extortion and blackmail....and most of all a lack of leadership capability.

Isn't this the "holdout" that's getting $300 million written into the bill for her state?

    Yeah, she finally buckled

Must be nice to just pencil in a couple hundred mill....just to grease the wheels a bit.

As a constituent of Mary Landrieu, I am very proud of the fact that she voted in favor of what the people need. Too many minorities fail to vote in Louisiana elections so our elected officials tend to pander to the conservatives. I am very glad that Senator Landrieu voted with the people in mind instead of bowing to the pressure of Louisiana Republicans who fail to have the best interest of the middle and lower class in mind. Louisianians will greatly benefit from this bill if it is passed.

So they paid off the La. senator & strong armed Leiberman by attacking his wife. What is the payoff for this one?
Meanwhile they have taken out just about everything they initially wanted in the bill all in the name of
"pass anything to save face so we can lay the ground work for control over the masses!"

Seriously, how can a self respecting Democrat look at the FACTS behind this bill, what is in it and what they have done to pass it and still want it?

It is blatantly obvious they simply want the control so it can lead to power. Obama has even said "just pass SOMETHING"
Does that sound like a party or president that really gives a crap about YOU and what YOU want?

The ONLY reason they are trying to pass this garbage of a bill is so they can claim a "victory". I think they don't realize it will only be a Pyrrihc victory. But alas, I am not being humanitarian enough. I guess it is the job of us real taxpayers to foot the bill for those who don't pay taxes. God forbid they aren't given the opportunity to congest the local emergency room when they get a cold or a cough. If our forefathers could only see what we have become...

Why not? She sold her vote for $300 million. And who knows what else, but that is just the way business is done in Washington, the group with the most money gets the spoils.
And America accuses other countries of being corrupt!

WEll if you pressure you party's own holdouts long enough then they will get in line huh? The plan covers 30 million folk who do not have heath insurance as of now. I thought our goal was to cover all americans!!? That is about 10 percent of Americans covered for almost a trillion dollars. What a deal!! Our government spending more than it needs to do less than it should and all the Libs are dancing in the streets at all the power and money they will now control. Who wins!?!? No really, explain how the common taxpayer wins!!???

If this issue wasn't so important I'd label it a media/government created soap opera with the cast of characters intent on keeping themselves relevant to the plot line lest the "writers" woke up one day and decided to write them off the script. Oh, but wait, that's exactly what they're doing. They're playing with our future with impunity and total disregard as to the consenquences of their inaction, centered instead on whose turn it is to be in the media limelight.

Thank goodness we have one less Democratic traitor to healthcare.

Maybe she heard on the news last night that not are Democrats going to strongly oppose every member of Congress who votes against healthcare, but the AFL-CIO has also said they will work to defeat any member of Congress who votes against healthcare reform.

Republicans have suddenly begun to talk about bipartisan healthcare. Since they are obstructing all votes to get to healthcare reform, they must mean that for Republican – bipartisan means Republicans joined in unity with the insurance industry!

Republicans are certainly against any reform that helps the American People or stops abuses by the insurance monopoly. Republicans are anti-American and pro-insurance abuse.

All the Democrats, including the traitor Lieberman, are going to find themselves targeted for defeat for opposing healthcare reform. Republicans are already going to be run out of office for sitting by criticizing everything while not offering ONE solution for restoring our nation they destroyed. They have done NOTHING all year. All they have done is to spread to hate, lies, fear, and support lunatic racist groups. The GOP is not interested in America but only their silly political games. They will see an even bigger defeat than 2008.

Thank goodness. Now what the heck do we do about the totally unprincipled know, the man who once proposed allowing people 55 and over to buy into Medicare and now says he'll filibuster if that remains in the bill?

I would like to add the fake outrage over republicans making them read the bill outloud are laughable. It doesn't take effect till 2014. Whats the rush? Can you lefty haters explain? This bill is a joke. Now people are required to have insurance or pay fines. Not too intrusive is it? The patriot act was less intrusive than this bill yet the left cries if it isnt passed even thought its not reform. It's nothing that was promised. Its health care reform in title only.

Hope he loses his seat. The bill is garbage.

    December 16, 2009 04:18 pm at 4:18 pm |

Shouldn't the title of this article say that Landrieu will support the health care bill now that all the reform has been stripped out of it?

Calling this garbage a "health care reform bill" without a qualifier of some kind – that it isn't reform at all, but huge gift to the insurance companies – is an insult to all the people who voted for change a year ago.

President Obama declared, “Now that the legislation has gone from watered down reform to no reform at all, let’s get this done!”

    Not audacious. Not hopeful.

He and the Senate Democrats have totally failed us.

For all the wrong reasons!!!!! This plan sucks. It misses all the important things that every side could agree on and that would make the biggest dent in the problem. START OVER!!!!!!!!!!

Did someone say 45000 die because of lack of health insurance?

Funny....this bill only covers 94%. 13 million remain without insurance. Looks like that 45000 still die. Bummer....

Hey, if someone has no insurance and they get run over by a bus and die....What was the cause of death? No insurance?
