Inhofe: Copenhagen conference 'has failed'.

Washington (CNN) – Republican Sen. James Inhofe, a well-known skeptic of global warming, said Thursday in Copenhagen that "there will be no agreement" at the conference and said, "It has failed."

The Oklahoma senator is the top Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee and said a cap-and-trade bill has no chance of passing the Senate.

"My stated reason for attending Copenhagen was to make certain the 191 countries attending COP-15 would not be deceived into thinking the US would pass cap-and-trade legislation," Inhofe said, according to prepared remarks. "That won't happen. And for the sake of the American people, and the economic well-being of America, that's a good thing."

President Obama pledged $1 billion on Wednesday to help protect rainforests around the world. Inhofe said it's "too much" and that "taxpayers won't be pleased" with how their money is being spent.

HELL NO !!! We`ll get what we can now and to hell with the next generation. They can fend for themselves. ( That`s quite evident what many believe). The human race will inevitable be it`s own undoing.

How do you "help protect a rainforest"? Build a big dome around it? Block the sun from shining on it? Put in a well and water it?

Maybe if they invested that 1 billion into building solar or wind energy in order to reduce the amount of power generated by burning fossil fuels, I might be able to buy that line of reasoning.

Likely this billion will go to some of his buddies in "think tanks" that will produce some paper that says we need a cap and trade system. That isn't protecting rain forests.

Mr. Inhofe, shut your trap. Your party doesn't believe in evolution or anything that has to do with science. How did you even got on the Environment and Public Works Committee?

The only thing republicans ever campaign on, is 'NOT DOING ANYTHING". These worthless dirt bags have been doing NOTHING for their entire existance. These low lifes are known to abandon their country in times of need (Cheney), abandon their state in times of need (Sanford) and abandon their morals in times of need (all of them in history).

Republicans, with americans like them, who needs terrorists?

Wait Obama you are killing me with confusion.... I thought we were on the verge of bankruptcy and economic collapse but you are pledging $1 billion of our tax payer money to other developing third world countries which we would have zero control over how our dollars would be spent? What of the inability to carry out the duties of the office in the best economic interest of the people of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, do we then give old Joe Biden a shot, he is looking much better these days...
    Please hurry 2010 and 2012!

These goobers in Copenhagen are talking about global warming and they've gotten over 4 inches of snow! Does anyone else see the irony?

Senator Inhofe– one of the greatest dolts in the GOP and that's saying a lot.

It is great the Inhofe is able to spew his garbage. He must come from a state as hateful as he is and where his future is secure. I cannot say that Inhofe is going to hell as Perry says about Gore but if there is anyone I see as the epitome of the devil it is Inhofe. A shiny posterboy for the right. And to think that the Democrats are their own worst enemies?

Hoping that something fails and announcing it has actually failed are two different things.

This whole global warming is a big hoax. There is no evidence of any increase in temps in the last 10n years. In fact it is actually getting colder(Let me guess that must be global warming as well right Mr. Bore). I think we have a lot more problems in this country that are a lot more important(Economy, Wars, Unemployment, etc). This president and the do nothing congress are a disaster!!!!

The thing that I see failing is Senator Inhofe's mind. What science is he looking at (that is actually science), that supports his point of view?

Soooo he attended the conference with the sole intention of undermining diplomatic efforts not within the purview of his legislative authority/role? Hmmm....I'd like to have seen what would've happened if a Dem had visited Maliki to "inform him" that the US legislature would not be doing X, Y or Z while Bushtard was in office. Pretty much says it all: where the GOPers fear Obama appearing to succeed, no length is too far to go for them to prevent it.

MIT (top scientific minds in the country, in case you didn't know) already released a study saying cap & trade wouldn't cost more than an average of $340 per household per year...and they even had to write a letter to Boehner for mis-citing their research and inflating that number by 10x. Look it up. These scumbags just don't want their energy industry masters to lose ground in terms of how well they control the country through their lobbyists.

I'm glad James Inhofe is a old man who's just getting a little older each day and will eventually have to leave the Senate. Ignoramuses like him are a dying breed... with each generation, they get a little less ignorant... but still can do their damage while in places of power.

It is very good news that Cap and Trade will not be passed in the U.S.

Sen. Inofe is a true American hero. Keep the money in our country. Save American jobs. Global Warming is not yet found to be human induced. Science is not consensus and definitely not over because the manipulation of data by corrupted scientists at CRU and IPCC and all raw data conveniently lost.

Why does the Democratic leadership allow such skeptics on these committees anyway? ALL the worst ones should be thrown out of these committees. I am continually appalled by the blatant contempt such people have for millions in the world that already suffer from climate change.

Sounds like his whole reason for going over there was to sabotage the process and ruin the chances of world action on what everyone agrees (except for US Republicans) to be one of the biggest threats to our society in history.

Way to go GOP – you are not only ruining the country, but apparently trying to ruin the world.

By all means, elected lawmakers should represent their constituents; however, there should be a law that declares that β€œan elected official SHALL posses an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) equal to, or exceeding that of at least 50% of their constituents.”

This makes me think: If this cat could be coached and propped up by enough lobbyists to win a senate seat, I may have a chance getting my cat Cheeh-a-poo elected to something too – just need the money.

Of course Inhofe would say "taxpayers won't be pleased" – it is his standard line; citing taxes to justify the mutilation of the planet's natural resources and subsequent condemnation of the human species.

this guy is a moron. so he used tax payer money to travel to another country to further his own agenda so as not to damage his stock portofolio.
we obviously have an effect on our environment around us, aren't we better served trying to pollute as little as possible?

thanks for screwing the rest of us, lets keep the status quo because things have been going so well for the middle and lower class the last decade or so...
