Palin meant no disrespect with blacked-out hat

Palin said she supports McCain '100 percent.'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said she meant no disrespect to the man that elevated her to the national scene after she was photographed wearing a visor on which Sen. John McCain's name had been blacked out.

The gossip Web site TMZ ran photos of the former Alaska governor vacationing in Hawaii earlier this week in which Palin is shown with a McCain campaign visor with black marker covering the ex-presidential candidate's name.

The Web site declared the hat a "frontal attack on Sen. John McCain," but Palin told Politico she was merely trying to "be incognito" while vacationing in Hawaii.

"I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way," Palin said in a statement to the Web site. "I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."

A Palin source confirmed the accuracy of the former vice presidential candidate's comments.

The four term Senator McCain is up for re-election next year.

The vacation comes a month after Palin's memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life," hit book stores. Palin launched an around-the-country book tour soon after and has since visited more than 30 cities.

Incognito with a campaign hat?? McCain's name blocked out with a black marker? Sarah Palin's behavior has been inappropriate from the day she was nominated to be VP. She is completely clueless-there is no other way to describe this woman.

The reason McCain's name appeared on her visor was so she could remember his name sort of in the same way she used 3 X 5 cards during the VP debate, Now that she has the word "former" (i.e., former governor, former beauty runner up, former student, former somebody almost important, etc.) in front of her titles she no longer needs to peek at her visor to remember his name.

This woman is just plain stupid. Is she trying to say that, in all of her recent book signing travels, and in all of the hotel gift shop, and in all of her closet space, that she couldn't find a totally non-descript visor to where while on vacation? And that she really, truly believed that a poorly concealed black marker covering up "McCain" was going to render her "incognito" as opposed to more headlines?

Maybe if she actually read a newspaper once in a while she'd realize what makes the news and what doesn't. Or she could call Tiger and get his advice on what sort of PR moves the public believes and which ones make you look like an idiot.

I'm all for fresh perspectives in politics, but let's find politicians with intelligence in addition to just being attractive and having a neighborly disposition.

Palin isn't used to the slimey paparazzi so why is this an issue? Anyways, Sarah Palin will make an awesome President after she defeats Obama in 2012!!

That is Sarah showing her true colors. John McCain is longer an asset to her, just only "Going Rogue" which empties peoples pockets!

Wth is wrong with this woman? She's a national figure that everyone is watching and she thought no one would notice? She's the one whining about how the press is always watching her. Well thats when you learn not to do stupid things, which is apparently a lesson this woman has never learned. What a twit.

She has made millions of dollars off of her book and speaking engagements – could she not afford to buy a new hat if she really was trying to go "incognito". There is nothing "incognito" about this woman. I wish her the best in her run for the Republican nomination – as a democrat nothing would make me happier.

Can't she afford a different hat? That is the tackiest thing I've ever heard.

Palin is either the stupidist person in politics or the most devious person in politics. Take your pick. If she wants to be incognito, wear a plain hat; that's what I'd do, but she's not as smart as I am - and that's scary. To imagine her a heartbeat away from the presidency almost stops my heart.

With all the money Palin is hauling in from her book, you'd think she could buy a new one! This is just plain weird, and intentional! Do me a favor... help out Hawaii's economy and buy a souvenir visor!

Too bad she can't afford to buy a new visor!

"Incognito" would be spending $5 from the millions she's made from the suckers who bought her book on a new visor.

What does she need a vacation for? She hasn't performed a day of work in over a year now.

Not only did she fail at running Alaska, she's failing at running the state of denial as well. This woman is utterly delusional.
