Palin meant no disrespect with blacked-out hat

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said she meant no disrespect to the man that elevated her to the national scene after she was photographed wearing a visor on which Sen. John McCain's name had been blacked out.

The gossip Web site TMZ ran photos of the former Alaska governor vacationing in Hawaii earlier this week in which Palin is shown with a McCain campaign visor with black marker covering the ex-presidential candidate's name.

The Web site declared the hat a "frontal attack on Sen. John McCain," but Palin told Politico she was merely trying to "be incognito" while vacationing in Hawaii.

"I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way," Palin said in a statement to the Web site. "I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."

A Palin source confirmed the accuracy of the former vice presidential candidate's comments.

The four term Senator McCain is up for re-election next year.

The vacation comes a month after Palin's memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life," hit book stores. Palin launched an around-the-country book tour soon after and has since visited more than 30 cities.

Please stop reporting on Palin. No one really cares about her. It was rediculous she was selected as a running mate and more obsurd she continues to be spotlighted.

Palin keeps on amazing us with her outright stupidity. Did she really think she could be icognito? Is she too cheap to buy another hat? And people want her to run for President! How sad is that!!!

Poor Palin, maybe she should dip into her book deal proceeds to buy another cap. Apparently she only had the one cap so to go rogue she taped over McCain's name.

Surrrrrrre she meant no disrespect! In what possible way can that *not* be seen as disrespect? What's she doing marking out his name in the first place unless she has contempt for him?

Sarah Palin has a long history of dissing and discarding anyone who's ever helped her, and this fits her sociopathic pattern. McCain's of no use to her anymore, so he's become her private joke, where she scribbles over his name on old campaign gear. The only thing she's sorry about is that she got caught at it.

As much money as Sarah Palin makes she couldn't buy a hat that didn't need to be blacked out with marker? Why would you intentionally black out someones name on a hat when you could just buy another one?

I hope she was wearing a flag pin at least. A couple of symbolic items like this and her faithful will leave in droves.

But seriously, she should know better. Even I look at a hat before I put it on.

    Folks,

Get real! She was doing what most folks of modest income would do with campaign leftovers. Black out the candidates (name, picture, slogan, etc) and wear the item!

This is no different than blacking out an old bumper sticker.

This is just another example of what is a truly desperate plea for attention from a person with nothing of note to say. The sad part is that she probably thinks she's some kind of genius for manipulating the media into running a story about her. I wish Fox would just give her a show and end the suspense.

Much to do about nothing. How stupid to try to make this an issue. Palin bashers are getting desperate.

Sarah Palin wanting to be incognito is like me NOT wanting to win the lottery. They are both lies.

If no one can see through this person....Why would you "have" to wear a visor with McCain's name blacked out? This woman loves attention and will do anything to get it. I am also shocked she would vacation in Hawaii since she bolted out there to avoid all the natives while in college. This woman need to grow up....Can you imagine her being president. What a circus

Ingognito? If I was trying to run for the elected position of second in command. I'm sure I would choose to wear a different hat, instead of trying to cover one up. IMHO

Ha ha, paint over McCain's name with a black marker to remain incognito ? That's the only hat she has ? And a woman with a hat covered with black ink is not attracting attention to her ? Come on, if you tell lies, at least tell some good ones. Problem is, Sarah Palin has a traitor's personality. And if you read Dante, you can find out where traitors end up.

Right, because the millions of dollars she made selling her book can't buy a new black hat. Pathetic excuse.

If she was trying to be incognito, why didn't she blackout her own name?

Or better yet, why wear campaign swag on a vacation at all? Go relax after all your hard work!

Are we to believe that Sarah does not have another hat that she could have worn? I'm sure she could afford a new hat. I am sure they sell hats in Hawaii. Of course, she knew what she was doing when she blacked out the name on the visor... This crazy does nothing without a purpose.
