Palin meant no disrespect with blacked-out hat

Palin said she supports McCain '100 percent.'
Palin said she supports McCain '100 percent.'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said she meant no disrespect to the man that elevated her to the national scene after she was photographed wearing a visor on which Sen. John McCain's name had been blacked out.

The gossip Web site TMZ ran photos of the former Alaska governor vacationing in Hawaii earlier this week in which Palin is shown with a McCain campaign visor with black marker covering the ex-presidential candidate's name.

The Web site declared the hat a "frontal attack on Sen. John McCain," but Palin told Politico she was merely trying to "be incognito" while vacationing in Hawaii.

"I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way," Palin said in a statement to the Web site. "I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."

A Palin source confirmed the accuracy of the former vice presidential candidate's comments.

The four term Senator McCain is up for re-election next year.

The vacation comes a month after Palin's memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life," hit book stores. Palin launched an around-the-country book tour soon after and has since visited more than 30 cities.

McCain officially has been thrown under the bus. You can't tell me that after making millions on her book deal she can't afford another hat! She is eating any and every republican she can for lunch. Reagan said "do no harm" to your fellow republicans. I guess after the Huckabee incident and now this McCain incident she is no longer subscribing to Reagan philosophies.
This is just too funny to watch.

What more proof do Palin supporters need to recognize that this lady does not have the intellectual or emotional maturity to be President?

Sure, that's not an insult ... and the book's title was a misprint, the real title is, "Going Rouge: An American Wife"

LOL CNN. You got to be kidding me.

No wonder you are LAST in the list of Media.

I await the day that the shareholders finally realize they have a bunch of numb-nuts running the news.

Keep it up. You help her numbers grow.....

    Palin 2012.

(PS. I know this won't make it on. This is for the Twitt that reads this for CNN and decides not to put it on the website. Merry Christmas)

So poor Sarah couldn't buy a new visor with nothing written on it. Everything with her is calculated, everything!

Once again, she proves just how DUMB she is. Did she not have another hat she could wear? I mean, really...

Ahh, poor thing. It is so sad that she can't afford to buy a "plain" hat, and is reduced to having to mark out McCain's name on a hat to get some privacy.

You have enough money. Buy a new hat if you want to be incognito.

Oh how much more of this woman's "rogue" garbage do we have to swallow? "Incognito" my foot. She just wanted the attention, (surprise, suprise), and then didn't have the courage or honor to admit the intentions of her own "rogue" inclinations to bite the hand that fed her and began this nonsense in the first place. If this woman even gets close to the presidency in 2012, then the predictions will be correct and the end is near.

Her statement makes no sense. Why wouldn't you just throw away a $4 promotional visor? Why would you spend the time to color the lettering in black (on a blue visor)? She can't afford another one? I wear shirts and promotional stuff from former employers all the time – I'm proud of where I've been and what I've done. I imagine that Ms. Palin can't say the same.

It was planned – all part of Palin's "rogue" appeal and to remain in the spotlight. Let's face it, that's all she has and that's the card she plays.

Yes she did. So she took the time to black out the McCain logo, instead of grabbing a different hat? Please.

Just goes to show she's being true to her fiscally conservative "maverick" nature... Why spend $5 on a new hat when for $1 and a bit of effort you can cleverly disguise your old one?

    Thanks Sarah! *wink*

PLEASE CNN is there anything this woman does that will NOT make political ticker? I'm no fan of Sarah Palin but give the woman a break...ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

At no time in this woman's life does she ever want to be incognito! Being the center of attention is the one and only thing she loves.
Unless trying to be incognito means becoming the center of attention.....Hmmmmm!

This woman has never tried to be incognito. Why did she wear a blacked out hat in the first place – there are a million other hats she could have worn if she wanted to "hide." The blacked out hat would be noticed far more than any other hat, and she knew it!

That's pretty funny..what..she can't afford a new hat while on vacation in Hawaii?

"So much for for trying to be incognito".
Huh? This publicity hound? Uh, sure. What a class act. What a pathetic excuse.

I wonder if she has some campaign t-shirts with magic marker black out?

Either she really is the caricature of ignorance the left paints her to be if she still hasn't caught on to how publicity follows you when you court it so assiduously, or she is just the tactless, tasteless, boob the left paints her to be.
Palin apologists to the rescue! Make up some excuse about her being thrifty (after she squandered six figures on her campaign shopping spree) or how she is recycling (she who denies global warming, wants to drill everywhere, thinks the green means money and not conservation).

Will she never learn? Sarah Palin is NOT smart enough to play these games. Her statement that she was trying to stay "incognito", suggests that she cannot afford a new, plain visor while on VACATION in HAWAII. If her point was to get her name in the news AGAIN, well done. Might I suggest paying someone to advise her on publicity. If she has someone, perhaps a new one with a higher IQ.

Why would Palin even wear that hat if she wanted to go "incognito" but then have to black out McCain's name? If she wanted to vacation in Hawaii without being recognized she should have worn a straw hat like the rest of the tourists.

But why Sarah? Can't you buy at least an unmarked visor if that's what you wanted? Geezzz... how much really does it cost for a generic visor? like $5 ? No. I think you really wanted to make a statement by using that visor and blacking out Senator's McCain's name... you might just as well put a duck tape on it. Oh well... whatever.

It amazes me the attention this person desires. There are a lot of hats in Hawaii. And she has visited 30 cities since her book was published. Even more hats to be purchased. Why this particlular hat? She knew as the pen was marking over McCains name that she and the hat would draw attention. Amazing.

I find it fascinating that many people in this country feel that someone with only a bachelor's degree is qualified to govern our country. She shows her lack of education/intelligence weekly. What a mockery we would be if we elected a former beauty pageant contestant to the White House.
I expect more out of our country's leaders. I want them to be the best of the best and have the highest education our system can give them. You don't have to be a lawyer, but come on, I need some sort of advanced education and especially in Mrs. Palin's case, maybe a class in Geography.
