Palin meant no disrespect with blacked-out hat

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said she meant no disrespect to the man that elevated her to the national scene after she was photographed wearing a visor on which Sen. John McCain's name had been blacked out.

The gossip Web site TMZ ran photos of the former Alaska governor vacationing in Hawaii earlier this week in which Palin is shown with a McCain campaign visor with black marker covering the ex-presidential candidate's name.

The Web site declared the hat a "frontal attack on Sen. John McCain," but Palin told Politico she was merely trying to "be incognito" while vacationing in Hawaii.

"I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way," Palin said in a statement to the Web site. "I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."

A Palin source confirmed the accuracy of the former vice presidential candidate's comments.

The four term Senator McCain is up for re-election next year.

The vacation comes a month after Palin's memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life," hit book stores. Palin launched an around-the-country book tour soon after and has since visited more than 30 cities.

Why is the CNN political ticker so fixated on Sarah Palin? The woman does not even hold an elected office! A "story" about the sun visor she wore!? By the way, I'm sure if she had aspirations of holding another elected position she would thank CNN for all the publicity. CNN, you've turned into one of those media outlets that run stories about celebrities all day, like someone cares what Jen Aniston's is wearing to dinner. Give me a break, if you have a story about something political, then fine, but leave this type of stuff to TMZ.

Why has CNN become the number one source for dishing political trash when it comes to Palin? Most of the CNN Palin stories don't rate the coverage.

If CNN does not stop mentioning about this woman I will start a boycott against CNN. This woman is a whacko. The country is in a mess so focus on solutions to our problems. She represents the worst in our society so stop talking about her and direct you energy and financial resources on helping America by discovery people with new ideas that can save America and the world.

My God, CNN and some other networks put this woman in the news every single meanigless chance they get.

    It really is pathetic.

First, Palin, trying to go incognito? Just can't buy that.

Second, just buy a new hat!

If the woman had any sense (which she doesn't), she would have worn a different hat. On this issue I don't doubt her word, but I doubt she is so poor that she couldn't have picked up another hat somewhere. She's such a loser. And as far as I am concerned, giving up her governorship makes her a super-loser and quitter. I wouldn't even vote for her for school board.

Palin...what a loser. She has a following of about 30%. That's not getting her anywhere.

You people are pathetic !!!!!! You complain about being tired of seeing her in the news but just can't resist bashing her one more time for giggles. This woman has twice the intelligence than the average person posting comments on this site. And twice the governing experience and accomplishments as our President. What's the biggest hurdle you had to deal with today ??? Probably trying to figure out what picture of yourself to put on facebook or myspace. Pathetic ........just pathetic. Retards pointing their finger at others calling them stupid. God save America.

maybe it was just a mistake...again
But why she makes so much mistakes?!!

It was so cheap for her to use this blacked out cup.
Her excuse was "exceptional", too – good for fools...

She is SO ridiculously lame. Most normal people who wanted to go incognito would simply have bought a visor that said Hawaii on it....this was an intentional slap at McCain pure and simple.

Every time Palin opens her mouth, the pool of remaining people who are dumb enough to believe her becomes smaller. The average IQ of her supporters must be under 90 by now.

Bwahaha! All those free clothes she got from the GOP, couldn't they have given her a decent hat?

I've been to Hawaii many times. There are ABC convenience stores on every corner...literally! Stop in one, Sarah, and pick up a box of macadamia nut chocolates and a new hat. While you are there see if they have any common sense or manners you could take with you. Mahalo!

Oh really.....this is just another stunt to keep her name in the news! Palin is a "total NITWIT!" This lady needs to hide in the back woods of Alaksa (near where she can see Russia!) CNN is just reporting the news and not making up the stories.....Palin gets a A+ for all her stories, actually she's quite Pathetic!

Like many, I'm starting to get the picture: She's not at all as simple-minded as some think. With so many knuckleheads clamoring to be famous by having done nothing (e.g., Balloon boy parents, Salahi trash couple), Palin manages to somehow campaign by simply wearing a hat, essentially... by doing nothing. Hats off to the new age we increasingly seem to deserve! Political discourse is now stuck in the shallow end of the pool.

Okay but couldn't you have just dropped 20 bucks on another hat that you did not have to black out someone's name. Sarah, Sarah, Sarah.....that is why 90% of us dispise you.
