Perry says Gore 'gone to hell'

It appears Rick Perry is no longer friends with Al Gore.
It appears Rick Perry is no longer friends with Al Gore.

(CNN) -Gov. Rick Perry was once a close ally of Democrat Al Gore, but the Texas Republican made clear Wednesday he and the former vice president no longer see eye-to-eye.

"I certainly got religion," Perry told the Dallas Morning News. "I think he's gone to hell."

Perry, once a Democrat, ran the Texas chapter of Gore's unsuccessful presidential bid in 1988. Then a member of the Texas Legislature, Perry announced a year later he was switching to the Republican Party.

Perry, a two-term governor who's up for re-election next year, is currently engaged a heated Republican primary battle with Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

With the Copenhagen climate change conference underway, it's the season of Gore bashing for some Republicans. The former vice president also took heat last week from Sarah Palin, who declared Gore was pushing "doomsday scenarios."

Is this the same man who is doing EVERYTHING in his power to avoid that the highly possible chance of having EXECUTED AN INNOCENT MAN becomes a proven fact? And he calls himself a religious man?
    Hypocrite.

Of course! Global Warming is the "New Religion" that Al Gore and so many others worship. I agree with Perry for once.

With the exposure of how contrived the Global Cooling/Global Warming/Climate Change "science" has been, we must seriously consider the judgement of any politician who continues to support Climate Change or related legislation. We have more than enough problems to deal with in this country without passing Trillion-Dollar legislation based on junk science. As for Mr. Gore, well, we've understood for a LONG time that listening to Mr. "I invented the Internet" may be entertaining at times, but otherwise is a waste of time.

I wish Perry would just go to Mexico.

"The former vice president also took heat last week from Sarah Palin, who declared Gore was pushing "doomsday scenarios."

Would it help you GOPers believe the science if we blamed it all on brown people? I mean, that truly appears to be a pre-requisite for any of you to believe that there's danger in the world from a certain issue.

I think the one that is going to hell is the very same Perry that has killed thru death penalty more souls than any governor in US. And also he blocked the commission on arsenic to bring to light the horrible mistake of sending an innocent person to death. Some of the most evil souls have the face of religious leaders.

Legislation to combat global warming is not in the interest of Republicans or the corporations that fund them. Enough said.

Governor Perry loves playing politics, just like all these other Republicans jumping at their chance to discredit global warming. He's distorting the truth now, and he distorted the truth before when he killed an innocent man by halting discussion by an appeals committee on an inaccurately-prosecuted case. Governor Perry will never git it right.

This coming from a guy in charge of a state that has one of the worst offenders of justice in the world. I lived there for 4 years and am so glad to be gone. Harris County is the leading county in the country at executing innocent people. The lab used in Harris County is a joke, much like Perry himself.

Gore is a liar and a fabricator. Here's a question...did Gore fly on a commercial jetliner, or did he fly his own private jet to Copenhagen? Is he taking public transportation that has been set up in COpenhagen, or did he take his own group of cars?

Gore was in Phoenix recently, and there were 5 or 6 suburbans driving his "group" everywhere, and they were not hybrids. And he flew in on his private plane.

He has used everyone to make himself hundreds of millions of dollars. He is the environmental version of Jimmy Swagert.

From a progressive's point of view, Perry is the governor of hell.

Sometimes I think that if I owned a house in Texas and an half acre in hell, I'd rent the house.

Not sure how close an ally Perry and Gore were, can't imagine it was really all that much. On a different note, he is trying to get re-elected and going up against Kay Bailey, so not surprised he is invoking religion to rally his base.

Gore is such a lying phony. Apparently, lying and weirdness has become necessary to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

So, that "Judge not, lest ye be judged...." thing is not really relevant to Perry?

Being a good steward of the Earthly gifts God gave us may just count for something with God. Who really cares what counts with Perry? Sanctimonious Republicans frequently trip over their own judgments, just ask Gov. Sanford-SC.

Governor Perry is an unabashed politician in the worst way. He caters to special interest groups here in Texas in such a blatant manner it would turn the stomach of a real governor. His brand of self- agrandizement is a snap-shot of what is wrong with govenrment. So, it is not surprising that he has turned on his one-time friend. Had the current political climate been different, I'm certain Rick Perry would have been willing to jump on the Al Gore bandwagon just as quickly.

    Perry speaking of Gore:

"I certainly got religion," Perry told the Dallas Morning News. "I think he's gone to hell."

I think that's the other way around. Any Governor that would talk about the possibility of secession from the union is.... Well, it sounds treasonous to me.
