(CNN) -Gov. Rick Perry was once a close ally of Democrat Al Gore, but the Texas Republican made clear Wednesday he and the former vice president no longer see eye-to-eye.
"I certainly got religion," Perry told the Dallas Morning News. "I think he's gone to hell."
Perry, once a Democrat, ran the Texas chapter of Gore's unsuccessful presidential bid in 1988. Then a member of the Texas Legislature, Perry announced a year later he was switching to the Republican Party.
Perry, a two-term governor who's up for re-election next year, is currently engaged a heated Republican primary battle with Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.
With the Copenhagen climate change conference underway, it's the season of Gore bashing for some Republicans. The former vice president also took heat last week from Sarah Palin, who declared Gore was pushing "doomsday scenarios."

Al Gore is one of the biggest hypocrites on the face of the planet. His carbon footprint is significantly larger than the average American. If he wants to help the environment he should stay home in his huge house in Nashville and keep his mouth shut.

I wonder if conservatives would have a different outlook on global warming if Al Gore weren't the face of the movement. These people just hate him with a fervor I don't understand and will oppose anything he stands for, for what seems like a grudge more than a rational belief. I think if Al Gore said the sky was blue, there would be tea parties organized to declare it was green.

But I don't think Rick Perry cares much about religion, policy, or party labels. He cares about maintaining his office.

So because he found religion that means he's capable of saying who goes to hell. I recall one of the 10 commandments is not to bear false witness. It seems to me that there is a controversy in Texas where many people, including people in law enforcement believe an innocent man was executed recently in Texas. And apparently Gov. Perry nixed a commission that was about to find out that an innocent man was executed. And he says Gore's going to hell? Once you become a Repub, you must embrace hypocrisy, it's a requirement

Al Gore is starting to show his true colors. He refuses to discuss any opposing points of view or his blatant "errors" in his movie that we should all wonder about the global warming hype he is pushing so hard. He has alot of personal money invested in the success of getting this crammed through...............follow the money, NOT the hypocrite flying around on his private jet.

A pea has better judgement than Governor Perry. He turned down
unemployment stimulus money, then asked the US Government
for a loan to cover same. We have one of the highest rates of
uninsured children in the country. Highest, on average, of property
taxes, and don't even look at our education rankings. So if anybody
"went to hell", it just might be what he has, or has not done, for
Texas. Thank you.

Perry should know, he tried to give away Texas to line his pockets with French road and rail money. He didn't even seem to mind the heat, just the exposure for what he is.

Up here in Minneapolis, our city ranks 15th in poorest air/water pollution. I can't even begin to imagine what is like in the southern most cities.
I'm not sure about most of you, but I certainly don't enjoy breathing toxic air, drinking toxic water, or eating toxic food. If fact, I would prefer not to have to do so at all. I'm absolutely certain these toxins are NOT caused naturally.
