    Those of you Republicans against this bill and mentioning that Medicare and Social Security are not right, you will only be taking enough benefits when you retire up until you get back what you paid in, right????????
    __________

    Medicare trust fund is exhausted at the end on 2019. That's in the same CBO report that claims the Reid bill reduces the deficit 130 billion.

    So NO, I won’t be taking Medicare benefits....in any amount.

    Harry "The War Is Lost" Reid ! This is just another example of Reid not knowing what he is doing.

    There is probably no one commenting here who hasn't misspoken, ever, not ever - let alone after working as many hours as these people have. There are many things about this bill to criticize but for heaven's sake, look how long it took Congress even to GET one. And it's supposedly something the American people have wanted for decades. Frankly, I haven't read the bill, so cannot comment intelligently about the provisions, but to get your petticoats in a bunch about someone making a mistake like this means you really need to get a life.

    What a travesty our country's political climate has become. Forcing through a completely unneeded and costly bill just to one up the republicans...is this 3rd grade? If this wasn't so horrible for our future debt and future generations it might be funny.

    "Many more people who have found themselves without any coverage since they lost their jobs or because the greedy insurance companies have found a way to disqualified them know reform is needed."

    Wait until you see how expensive health insurance is once it covers pre-existing. People DO NOT realize what this bill will do.

    IL has an ICHIP program that will cover anyone regardless of health or pre-existing....for a mere $400-700/month for an individual depending on the size of the deductible.

    Any guess what? You have to buy insurance now....from the same "greedy" insurance co......good luck.

    Do you think he is just a little bit tired! What a great day for America – though it could have been a little bit better if only the Republicans had actually engaged in the debate....

    Freudian slip, as they call it. Knows he should vote no, so that's what came out.

    Just another way Reid had of making fun of the Republicans. He is a real piece of work. I hope the voters of NV take care of their big joke in the U. S. Senate.

    Everyone is for healthcare reform...but not this bill. When are they going to pass a bill that really fixes the healthcare problems?

    Looks like the insurance companies are going to like this bill.
    Here's a quick breakdown of major health insurance company stock performance from Oct. 27 to Friday's market close:

    •Coventry Health Care, Inc. is up 31.6 percent;

    •CIGNA Corp. is up 29.1 percent;

    •Aetna Inc. is up 27.1 percent;

    •WellPoint, Inc. is up 26.6 percent;

    •UnitedHealth Group Inc. is up 20.5 percent;

    •And Humana Inc. is up 13.6 percent.

    Way to go Dems................................

    I have to hand it to the republicans. They have media manipulation of the masses mastered. If your a republican just stop and think for one moment. They lost the house, the senate and the presidency. Does anyone think for a second they would help the democrats to have a victory. At this point obstructionism is their policy. It's a scorched earth policy. Stonewall everything and try to blame it on the democrats so the republicans can recover in the next election.

    I hope all of you for this are happy. You will get what you asked for. No more insurance companies padding their pockets - they will be bankrupted. Welcome to government health care. By the way, when my wife blew out her knee, the government doctor said "You don't look like you need an ACL. Therefore, we won't replace it." I don't think you are getting what you think you are, but what do I know. I've just been there.

    Boy he sure is funny. What a comedian. The really sad part is that he and his pals have no idea how much damage they have just done to this great country.

    Obstructionism December 24th, 2009 3:43 pm ET

    You can ALSO thank the obstructionist GOP for the earmarks required to pass this bill. Their filibustering created the atmosphere for Nelson, Lieberman, and other Conservative Dems to ask for special earmarks to pass the reforms most Americans want and need. 60% is not a Democracy!
    _____________

    What filibuster? It never got to that point. Could it be that you have no clue what a filibuster means?

    As far as earmarks....you're saying it's the GOP's fault Reid had to bribe his own people to get them to vote for his bill? lol!

    That's good stuff. Keep it coming.

    What I have learned out of all of this is never have the same party control the house, senate and whitehouse at the same time.

    The other thing I learned is we need term limits. If you are in now, I am voting for the new kid on the block.

    Finally, I really believe the payoffs have created a total mistrust in the government.

    Yes we need health care reform but this process is not the way to do.

    Does anyone really believe that the congress will cut medicare by 500 billion in the end?

    I was told no pork last year. God I should have know better. Never, ever trust someonefrom Washington.

    "Republican Senators flush with their taxpayer paid Cadillac health insurance plan and pockets filled with health insurance and big pharmaceutic lobby dollars think and act that American voters won't remember what they did come election day and they are wrong."

    If the republicans were being paid by the insurance industry, would they stop a bill requiring everyone in the country to buy insurance?

    Big Pharm supports the bill the Republicans tried to stop.....why?

    Can any of you libs put two and two together or do I have to draw you a map?

    "The republicans line up side by side with the Insurance Industry in an attempt to preserve excessive profits at the expense of the Americans peoples health."

    So THAT's why the tried to stop a bill where everyone has to buy insurance from the insurance indusrty!

    You libs need to update your talking points.
