Tell these Republican critics to call and cry to Dick Cheney.

When was it put into law that the POTUS has to clear with the Republicans on how and when he is going to pass gas? You people need to get a life.

This is a joke, right? Not sure where this particular White House Correspondent came from - the Bush personal press corp? He says Bush would have been out there immediately - does he mean like he was after Katrina?? Or like he immediately sprang into action afrter the 9/11 attacks??? (recall the dumbfounded look and continuing to read a children's book). It would have been nice if Bush had paid attention to the warnings he was provided before 9/11 but we know what happened there. So after all of that, a foiled attempt by one person should require a personal appearance by the president??? I think the republicans are stretching this one a bit too far... But not a surprise for the party of no and objections, and "we want the country to fail for political reasons..."

Well, of course he is. At least by the right. He'd only get a good response if he blindly started bombing places without any intelligence reports. That's the Republican way.

I am confident President Obama takes this situation very seriously. He does not need to stoke people's fears by making a statement.

Personally, I don't see why he needed to comment on the event at DIA on Christmas Day. He is being critized for not speaking out publically on TV and had he done just that he would have been critized for over reacting. He would have been critized as trying to make the issue a political issue. I wish the media would take a seat for a week and let things flow without them trying to steer them.

Republicans need to sit down and shut up and Democrats need to star doing what they were elected to do and that was govern. It' time to stop all the talk about what the last administration left and time to start fixing it. If Republicans want to be of assistance bring them in the fold. If they do not then waste no time begging them to join. When it is time for the bus to leave the station you are either on board or you get left. Republicans can make up their own minds if they want to come along for the ride or be left by the way side.

Another example of our weak President regarding terrorism. What a stupid statement made by the Homeland security person. No one got hurt. I guess it is ok if nobody gets hurt.

    Nonsense, pure nonsense.

Remember these are the same folks the cranked up the hysteria based on lies and exaggerations, and then invaded the wrong country.

Their opinions should be taken with a hefty load of salt.

After eight years of bush hyperbolic fear mongering we finally have an adult in the white house who understands that it's just plain wrong to play the terrorism card in the media in order to politicicize an averted tragedy to bump your poll numbers

Of course the republican’s criticized the president, that is ALL THEY KNOW TO DO. What has he done they have not criticized? They complained about his choice of mustard on a hamburger, these are not rational people and we should not pretend that their criticism means anything other than they are political children invested in the failures of America for their own personal gain.

This from the party of "bring it on!" I still remember how our former president basically dared out enemies to attack us with his 'bring it on' speech. Smart, very classy to invite an attack on your own military. President Obama has done the smart thing; he is letting our security departments handle this. After all, isn't this why we pay these people?

Were not all the Obama followers expecting this. We knew it would only be a matter of time for their hate spewing on this matter.

Goodness gracious, a day w/o dissing our President just wouldn't be right for the nasty GOP, the Party of No, the party that simply will NOT be bi-partisian and help him help our country. No, siree not the GOP.

The republicans critisizing the president is no more a news story than Palin saying something stupid is. It is just what they do everyday!

President Obama could have single handedly taken this guy out with his bare hands and he would still be criticized. What else is new?

We don't know if this was part of a group plot, or a loner looking for his name in lights. Until then, let's not surmise, huh?

Of course, Republicans are giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States to try to weaken our president. Republicans would love nothing more than for Al Qaeda to murder U.S. citizens again, just like they did under Bush and Cheney in 2001. There is nothing like fear of terrorism and thinking your government can't protect you to promote the undermining of democracy in our country.

Tha';'s right, "could have been....." A diaster was averted and Pres Obama did NOT have to appear on TV himself.

The real problem is ,once we face up to it, is that political correctness is out of control. TSA etc. shake down old ladies with canes while letting 20 yr. old men with muslim names slide on through. Wouldn't want to offend anybody. This is just plain stupid. Time to start utilizing the limited resources available and place them where the odds of being successful are the best. If you have a muslim name, and are not a terrorist, I apologize to you in advance but your arse is on the line also when you are on a plane. Time to get real people.
